TO DRILL TEST WELL ON EMERSON TRACT
GARDEN GROVE, June 4.—R. W. Edens of Fullerton, representative of the Orange County Drilling Co., was in Garden Grove this week, and made the declaration that it had been decided to put a test well on the C. A. Emerson ten acre tract north of Garden Grove.
The material has been ordered and is to be on the grounds this week.
The Reeks' three zero tract on Sunnford and sixth-st., was sold this week to Kogler brothers of Orange, and the Grews one acre tract, south of the depot, was sold to Orange parties this week by the C. A. Emerson agony.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Edmunds, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Buller and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pearson spent Sunday and Monday fishing at Black canyon.
W. M. Kelsey and sons, Ernest and Dolph, and Lynn Tattill of Los Angeles spent Sunday night fishing at Newport Beach. Mackerei were running good and Ernest Kelsey caught a 20 pound mawkerol.
Larne Clark, who is working in Santa Ana, spent Sunday and Monday with his mother, Mrs. Hattie Clark.
William Guest, of Detroit, Mich., was a caller at the E. Beardsley home Tuesday. He is a brother of Mrs. R. E. Beardalay.
Mrs. Browlee and daughter, Miss Hattie, and Miss Marie Bodenhamer spent Monday at Huntington Beach.

Sweet penil and carnations adorned the copy bungalow of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Bishop on Saturday evening, when they were hosts to the Valuada "560" club, Dalny baskets of candy, and boutonnieres, were the favors. The flower concealed prizes were won by Mrs. E. H. Little, and F. J. Lightfoot, first; and Mrs. Claud Ridgeway and Ray Frantz, who won second. A delicious collation served at the close of the game.
Those present-were the Messrs, and Mesdames Frantz, Espolt, Leuhim, A. O. Launer, N. M. Launer, Leutwiler, Little, Ridgeway, and Lightfoot.
The Farm Burcan meeting will be held at the social hall, Thursday evening. Dr. I. G. McBath, well known citrus expert will address the bureau. His topic will be "The Value of Spoiled Hay to be Used as Fertilizer." A good musical program will be given, and refreshments served.

LA HABRA S. S. HAS COMMUNITY PICNIC
LA HABRA, June 4—The Methodist Sunday school held its annual picnic at the Orange-co, Park today.
A splendid program was provided.
Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Shirkey are enjoying a delightful vacation trip. They are en route to Oregon where they will visit Mrs. Shirkey's sister.
The L. J. Western have returned from a five days' trip to the central part of the state. While away they visited old-time La Habra residents, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Dyer, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith, of Turlock.
Practically all of the lots in the Walnut park addition, of Wester and Young, have been sold. Miss Katy Cross has begun the erection of a cozy bungalow, and C. R. St. Clair, of Whittler, will improve his property at once.
Mrs. Anna Brookhouser, who has been in Los Angeles for some time, was a visitor at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. C. Crumrine, for a few days. She left Tuesday afternoon for San Diego, for the summer, to visit another daughter, Mrs. C. L. Moore.
If there is any thing that C. L. Crumrine would rather do than fish, it is fish some more it is said and he has made some famous catches. Monday the Crumrine family, with Mrs. Brookhouser, and T. E. Hodkins, of Los Angeles, were tempting the finny tribe from their haunts at San Onofre.

BUENA PARK, June 4, (Spl.)—The Woman's club met at the home of Mrs. J. F. Simpson on Thursday afternoon with Mesdames Shaw, Calleway and label as hostesses. Prudene Penny of the Los Angeles Examiner, who was to lecture to the ladies was met at the stage by Mrs. Ben Callo-way and Mrs. L. Blatz. Prudence Penny talked on "Home Economics" under which were the electric washer, pressure cooker and other electric conveniences. The lecture was very much enjoyed and was very helpful to many Mrs. E. E. Thurman presented Prudence Penny with a beautiful bouquet of red sweet peas.
Delicious refreshments of brick ice cream, lady fingers, macaroons, and punch were served. There were 49 ladies present at this meeting.
The club will meet in two weeks at the home of Mrs. N. D. McDowell Mrs. H. E. Warren will give her report on the Yosemite convention at this meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Horn and chilren left on Friday for Lodi for a visit with Mrs. Horn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Thurman.
Mrs. Hattie A. Allen has rented the J. W. Goss home to Mrs. J. R. Thomas of Texas.
