Saturday, May 21, 1921. WOMEN'S CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE TIME BUENA PARK, May 21—(Sp.)—A very interesting meeting of the Women's club was held at the home of Mrs. Teagarden with Mrs. Teagarden and Mrs. J. W. Wilson as hostess. Mrs. E. Warren will be a delegate from the club at the State Federation to be held at Yosemite from May 23 to 27. Mrs. W. D. McDowell read an article urging the necessity of funds for keeping the Pacific fleet intact on this coast. A telegram was sent to our Bonator at Washington indorsing this measure. Mrs. F. Label gave a very interesting reading from a book written by her uncle on the Origin and Proclamation of California Name. The next reading will be on Los Angeles. The next meeting will be held June 2 at the home of Mrs. J. P. Simpson with Mendames Shaw-Calloway and label as hostesses. Prudence Penny of the Los Angeles Examiner will lecture to the ladies and an invitation is extended to all ladies in the town to attend. The meeting after the Prudence Penny meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. N. D. McDowell. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Shaw and sons, Bob and Bailey, and Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Calloway and daughter Emmeeline motored to Laguna Beach on Sunday. Miss Gertrude Nelson was a Norwalk visitor on Thursday. Mr. Claude Lovett is driving a new Ford Roadster. Mrs. W. B. Shaw and Mrs. L. J. Robeson entertained on Thursday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Cole, a bride and groom of last Wednesday. A vory enjoyable evening was passed with music, dancing and games. At a late hour delicious refreshments of strawberry ice cream, cake, candy and coffee were served. The guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thrasher, Miss Catherine Uttenweller, Mrs. R. C. Cauthon, Mr. Dick Dano, Mr. Kilgore, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Robeson. Mr. N. D. McDowell with Mr. Peck of Anaheim left on Sunday by auto for Yosemite. Mr. Uttenweller of Chicago arrived on Tuesday for a few months visit with his wife and daughter, Mrs. M. Uttenweller and Miss Catherine. Dave Lemke has returned home after an operation for the removal of his tonsils at the Anaheim Sanitarium. He is feeling a little stronger but is still suffering. Bers expressing their delight at the program arranged for. Mrs. Charles Hansen led a most interesting discussion on vacation suggestions by telling of her trip through Yosemite by motor last summer. She had many beautiful photos taken enroute which she showed. Mrs. Charles Fuller then told of her trip through Oregon and Washington telling most especially of her stay at Crater Lake and vicinity. She also accompanied her talk with interesting pictures. Following this Mrs. Frank M. Dowling gave an interesting account of her trip to Honolulu and a wonderful description of the life and scenes of that beautiful place. Miss Ada Sturdevant then entertained the ladies with a few old-time songs, accompanying herself on the harp. The Dress Budget was then discussed by Miss Brawley of Fullerton and many things of value were learned by her listeners. Mrs. Carrie Ford gave a report of the recollection meeting at La Habra. She told also of the wonderful work of Miss Mackey and also of the work among the Chinese of Miss Billy who has affy Chinamen in her Sunday school class. Miss McColloch then gave a beautiful piano solo. The Placentia Quartet composed of Mrs. J. E. Scott, Charles Shammer, Mrs. Arthur Mann and Mrs. Frank M. Dowling sang a delightful song, accompanied by Mrs. Percy Bradford. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mrs. P. L. Bradford took her little daughter into Los Angeles to the hospital Friday. The speaker advertised for the Better Mother's club on Thursday afternoon was suddenly taken ill and was unable to come; She Shepardson of the Fullerton Union high school very kindly consented to speak to the mothers, and gave a mighty interesting talk, considering the extremely short notice. McClellan's Garage on Main-street has changed hands, having been bought by J.W.Keate and George Marshall of Los Angeles. C.M.Clellan is on a two weeks library on-land and seven o'clock Board of Trustees Mrs.Jake Edwards week in Pasadena Placentia News PLAGENTIA MAY 21.—(Spl.)—Mrs. W. Krick was hostess on Monday afternoon to the Missionary Society of the local Presbyterian church. Mr. and Mrs. John Taffree entertained the H. C. L. club at the East Newport Yacht club on Tuesday evening. They started the pleasant evening with a motor ride from here to the beach and continued with boating and other pursuits. Then all gathered on the beach and enjoyed a weiner roast. Those participating in the enjoyable evening were: Mrs. Gage, Mr. and Mrs. Skiles, Mrs. Olive Snell, Miss Helen Lucy, Miss Alyce Kesey, Miss Elsa Raffi, Miss Marie Robertson, Mary Head, Marile Key, Thelma Summers, Helen McCool, Mabel Ipsen, Bettey Clark, Ruth Rowerton, Eva Salter, Jesse Sallor, Louise Kesey, Irene Beasonet, Rachel Tramenell, Ruth Ferguson, Ollie Shunke, Melba Ferguson, Ola Shotwell, Mabel Kelly, Elemar Lozer, Myrtle Warner, Ruby Gelly, and Miss Easton. Mrs. Cham L. Hannon spent Tuesday afternoon at Long Beach. The Round Table club held its closing meeting Wednesday afternoon.
