The Pacific fleet will not be reduced in numbers. It will be added to and made both larger and stronger. That is the opinion of Admiral Hugh Redman today. There was much rejoicing among the personnel of the fleet's officers this morning over President Harding's assurance that there is no possibility of the Pacific armada being recalled to the Atlantic. They accept the President's statement as giving the definite promise that the useful naval bases will be established on this coast, as the maintenance of the fleet in these waters without them is considered impossible.
