Rejnolds has moved a house on its lot recently purchased from Mr. Anderson on Walnut-st. He expects to occupy same within a week. Mrs. Suttiff on Laurel Heights has seen on the sick list for several days. Mr. Bergman and son are able to be out again after several days illness. West Coast Lease Just south of the Pantages-Huntington, The Miller Snydicate has taken over the interests of the Venture Oil Co. No. 2. Huntington Central No. 1 is now on a settled production and is making about 400 barrels. The Huntington National is under the same management and will be put over next. Drilling is to start on Huntington-National soon. A recent test made on the formation shut off on the Moser Special is showing considerable water and some doubt is being expressed on the success of the shut off. As this report was being typed, balling out to bring in had just started on the Pantages-Huntington. Indications warrant the prediction of a 450 barrel well. The Peerless Petroleum Co. drilling at 2200 feet has struck a number of showings of oil, some of them running for several hours and looking good. It is planned to set pipe at 2300 or 2400 feet. Next to the Standard the Petroleum Midway is the heaviest developer at Huntington Beach, Bray No. 1 is drilling at 1100 feet, Columbia 1-1 is testing water at 3100, Columbia 2-1 is rigging up, Columbia 3-1 is pulling pipe and will test out at 3007, Thornton No. 1 is building rig, Ray Walker No. 1 is standing cement at 2456, Vollmer-Meyer No. 1 is testing for water at 3078, V. M. No. 2 is building rig, Towers No. 1 is drilling at 1500, and Smythe No. 1 is building rig and rigging up. The cement plug is to be drilled out at the Republic Petroleum's well and a production test made early this week. Drilled to 3685 looked rather good before setting pipe. Its success will mean immediate development by Paramount, Bell of Montebello, and Placentia-Richfield Central. The Sandberg Petroleum Co., spudded in and started drilling early on Monday. The Sandberg Petroleum Co., holds some 20 acres on Signal Hill and should the Shell bring in a well this company's stock would probably be one of the best speculative buys on the market. Standard Oil success goes right ahead on the Huntington property: A-7 came in a 700 barrel well at 2800 feet. A-8 started off at 1800 barrels, after being drilled to 2600 feet. A-3, the big well brought in last week, is showing quite a variable production, the output running drill another test well on the Newlands lease before abandoning the property, the well probably to be drilled on the north side. At between 1700 and 1750 the Westminster Oil Co. struck quite a showing of gas. The gas seemed to carry a peculiar odor not like that of petroleum. The formation as near as can be learned is a hard lime stone. Drilling is going nicely and the progress is very interesting. The Standard Oil Vo. is setting boilers and rigging up on Chafee No. 1 at Garden Grove. Drilling will be under way in a week. It will be only a few days until the Petroleum Midway will be drilling on its test well at Buena Park. The boilers are set and the rigging up is pretty well completed. The Petroleum Midway is entitled to success on the venture. Any company is that will go out several miles from production and start a wild cat. ORANGE-CO. FORENSIC CONTEST SATURDAY The Orange-co forensic contest will be held Saturday all day at the Santa Ana high school auditorium, the freshmen and sophomores competing in the forenoon and the juniors and seniors in the afternoon. Anhelm will be represented as follows: Romia Tedford, freshmen; Mildred Lucas, sophomores; Mary Kane, Juniors; Martin Leuschner, seniors. ATTENDS PRINCIPALS MEETING J. A. Wheatley of La Habra has formed the habit of following out this saying in his daily pursuit of success, both in growing lemons and more recently in raising children. Holding the 1921 production record for lemons with 44,854 pounds to the acre, he now has the record for quantity and quality of births at the Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles and throughout this section. Western, Winton and William, three fine boys weighing between four and five pounds, were born at noon Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Wheatley of Russell street, La Habra, at the Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles. Coming into the world just 17 and 2 hours ahead of the opening for patients of the Whittier hospital means the loss of a gift of a college education for each one, the first born in the new hospital to receive a college education and in this case three lifts would be forthcoming. 10,000 BBLS. DAY AT HUNTINGTON BEACH Huntington Beach Huntington Beach has taken a place now as one of the established fields of California. One hundred digs are up, three companies have The Sandberg Petroleum Co., spudded in and started drilling early on Monday. The Sandberg Petroleum Co. holds some 20 acres on Signal Hill and should the Shell bring in a well this company's stock would probably be one of the best speculative buys on the market. Standard Oil success goes right ahead on the Huntington property. A-7 came in a 700' barrel well at 2800 feet. A-S started off at 1800 barrels, after being drilled to 2600 feet. A-3, the big well brought in last week, is showing quite a variable production, the output running all the way from 600 to 2000 barrels, and at times the well makes some emulsion. The Standard has located A-13, A-14, E-2. B-3 is bailing to bring in at 2175, and looks like a good well. Surf No. 1 is cleaning out at 3760 and Torrance No. 1 is redrilling at 3870. Jones Community No. 1 is drilling in shale at 3445. The Sun Oil Co. failed to get a shut off on well No. 1 at 2436, and preparations are being made to go in with cable tools and drill ahead to another suitable place to try for a shut off, and the location for No. 4 is staked. Texcal No. 2 brought in a week ago is averaging about 500 barrels daily. For the benefit of the stockholders the well was allowed to flow over the crown Sunday. Later it sanded up and will have to be cleaned out before it will make any more production. No. 1-A is drilling at 2777 and pipe will be set at 2800 or 2825. A nice well is looked for at No. 2. A definite decision has been reached by the Texas Holding Co. on its well No. 1 and pipe was set at 3290 feet. The Eddistone's Ashton No. 1 is holding up nicely, the production is running around 900 barrels every day. Ashton No. 2 is building rig and will start drilling soon. The Union Oil Co. is busy starting new wells on the north side of the field. Copeland No. 1 is being deepened, the work now making progress after fishing out a liner. Lumber is on the ground for Copeland No. 2 and S. Copeland No. 3 is building rig. On the Newlands No. 1 fishing is on after 3800 feet of drill pipe. One hundred rigs are up, three companies have become producers and the daily output of the 11 producing wells is ten thousand barrels. The Amalgamated Oil Co. added two new rigs to the field, building one at Fowler No. 2 and one at Scarce No. 1. Huntington A-1 is drilling out the cement and will be production in a few days. Located near the S. O. Co.'s A-4 it should prove a big well. Huntington 2-A is to be deepened. Fowler No. 1 is making some water tests. The Argonaut Oil Co., seemingly pleased with the good showing Turkey No. 1 is making is going ahead with the drilling, and now is at 3045 at sandy shale and oil sand. The well is showing lots of oil. The cement will be drilled out and a water test made at Bolsa Chica No. 1 about Thursday of this week. Expectations are set for a big well. The pipe was set at 2132, where some very good showings were struck. The field shows a number of wells standing cemented, most of them scheduled to drill out this week. The wells are Blue Shale No. 1, Edens Syndicate No. 1, Huntington Central No. 2, Moser Special No. 1, Vista Del Mar Nos 1 and 2, and Miley-Keck No. 1, also State Consolidated No. 1.
