ANNUAL CONVENTION OF COUNTY Y. M. C. A.
The annual convention of the Orange County Y. M. C. A. will be held in Santa Ana, at the First Methodist church, on Monday, May 16th, at 4:30 o'clock. The gathering this year planned not only for the men but for the women as well, and arrangements are being made to care for all who desire to attend. The seating capacity runs about 300 or 400, and while it is not expected to pack the meeting, a goodly attendance is promised.
The committee has secured Rev. Roy Campbell, pastor of the First Congregational church of San Diego, formerly of the Western District, United War Work Council, for the speaker of the evening. His topic will be "Coming—His New Day." Mr. Campbell is highly recommended as a speaker with plenty of enthusiasm, who will bring a real inspiration to all who are fortunate enough to hear him.
Dinner at 5:30 by the ladies of the Methodist church, following which the program for the evening will be presented around the table. This will include 4 minute talks on "The County Y. M. C. A., as a Community Argency" by Rev. Houser of Fullerton; "Why I Am Interested in the County Y. M. C. A." by M. E. Bebee of Anaheim; demonstration of group work by Malcom Finley and his group of boys from the United Presbyterian church, Santa Ana; "What the Y. M. C. A. has meant to me and to our High School" by Lloyd Hessel of Orange; and "Compensations of a Leader" by Paul E. Wright of Santa Ana. The address of Rev. Campbell will wind up the meeting. Special music will be rendered—Darrol Myers with a whistling solo and other numbers.
All those desiring reservations for the dinner may secure them thru the Association men in their community or by phoning the county office, Santa Ana 615-M.

The Keck Drilling Co. is to be congratulated on the masterly manner in which the well was drilled, and marks Keck one of the most successful drilling contractors in the field. The job was a long and hard one but was well done in record time.
The National Exploration Co. is still having pipe troubles at Chino No. 1, the depth being only about 1300 feet. The complexion of Olinda No. 1 changed for the better considerably when the formation commenced to show some real brown sandy shade that shows color.

CHAPMAN No. 2 BIG-GEST RICHFIELD WELL
The Union Oil Co.'s Chapman No. 2 is now the greatest producer in the Richfield district. The well came in last Friday at the rate of 2000 barrels. The big well has not settled down to 1700 and is flowing with hardly any effort. Chapman No. 2 was completed at 4100 feet and shows what the Union can expect of more wells completed at this depth and deeper. Three more wells on the Chapman lease are in the oil sand and will be completed soon. No. 5 at 4065, No. 6 at 4150 and No. 7 at 4255.
On the Thompson-Goodwin property No. 2 in the oil sand at 3225 looks good. McFadden No. 2 is near production, being in the oil sand at 3180. Coyle-Bogue No. 1 at 4035 is in the oil sand and looks promising. Two wells on the Coyle property stand cemented, No. 2 at 3057, and No. 4 at 2895. Ester Newell No. 2 drilled to 3810 is cleaning out and balling at 3295, water trouble has prevented this well from being a commercial producer. Stern No. 1 is in the oil sand at 3420, but a fishing job is delaying the completion of the well. Stern No. 2 started drilling and is 600 feet deep. Pulling on pipe wrecked the rig at Dorsey No. 1.
The Wonder Oil Co. is now a producing company in the Richfield district, breaking into the producers ranks with a 1400 barrel well at No. 1. Drilled to 4384 this new well began showing lots of good sand at 4100. The amount increased as the hole deepened. The big well came in early Tuesday morning and is TIPTON & OAILOR LAWYERS

The Keeler Oil Co. is soon to be one of the Montclair No field producers. Drilling on No. 2 at 2850 is going nicely, and with only one more joint or pipe to get out of No. 1, the well will be ready to test out.
A defective string of casing caused the delay at No. 1, ready to bring in at 3010.
A bailer in the hole, lost at 3315, has slackened the fast pace of the Pan-American No. 2 drilling. Until the bailer can be recovered or drilled up no further progress can be made.
The Petroleum Midway on meeting with mechanical trouble at Baldwin No. 7 has moved the rig and will start a new well, Baldwin No. 9 is on a production test at 3064. Prugh No. 9 at 2500 is showing lots of gas and oil and will be a nice well without doubt.
The Potter Oil Co. was successful in shutting off water at 2666, and is now drilling ahead in the blue shale at 2850.
The Standard Oil Co. completed the rigging up work and drilled 1200 feet of hole during the past week at Temple No. 14. Shaft drive rotary and Standard speed were the combination. AMAL. DRILLS FOUR HOLES AT RICHFIELD
Placentia Richfield
Faith in the future of the Richfield district has kept development work up steadily since the discovery well came in two years ago. The Amalgamated was one of the first companies to get into the field and still has four wells drilling. Breen No. 2 in the conglomerate at 1025, Page No. 1 in the same formation at 2725, Potter No. 2 stands cemented at 3200, and Bayha No. 1 a new well is drilling at 400 clay.
Starting off with the intention of going deep if necessary the Dependable Oil Trust spudded in and started drilling a 20-inch hole. Located just across the road from the Petroleum-Midway's Richfield No. 2 the outlook for the Dependable is good.
The Fullerton Oil Co.'s Anaheim Unlah No. 1 is now drilling at 4500. At this depth the formation is a nice brown sandy shale, and is showing more oil and gas than at any time since the well started drilling. The Fullerton expected to finish at 42 or 4200 but did not get the rich sands found by the Standard on the Kraemer No. 2 property.
Drilled to 4527 the General Petroleum's group 2-1 failed to produce oil on a production test made early in the water. It is the plan now to plug back and test out showings that were noted on the way down. Group 3-1 is at 2150 in sticky shale, and 4-4 is making hole in shale at 3000. Davis No. 1 came in doing 160 barrels gross, about 50 per cent of the production seems to be water. Hugo No. 1 continues to hold up at 600 barrels and is the wonder well of the Olinda group-Preparations are being made to redrill and deepen Stern No. 3, now at 3475. Stern No. 4 is producing 340 barrels and shows no sign of falling off.
The Harrington-Dumas Oil Co. is not entirely satisfied with the ways its No. 1 is acting and has decided to drill the well deeper. It will be necessary to get out some 4 inch pipe before the redilling starts. Little difficulty is expected in getting the hole in shape.
Drilling at 3285 in sandy brown shale the Placentia-Pacific Oil No. 1 is showing lots of gas. Drilling is going nicely.
The Placentia Oil Co. is still tied up with a fishing job at 2550. However, some progress is being made.
490 barrel wells at Olinda. The new wells are Nos. 23 and 25. No. 22 is coming in at a depth of 2875, and No. 36 at 3200 feet. The coming in of these two wells gives the Columbia a nice production at Olinda.
The Fullerton Oil Co.is about to increase its Brea production with a new well at No. 6. In the oil sand at 3200 feet this well is looking good. No. 14 stands with the cement setting at 2400, No. 17 is a new well with the rig up.
The General Petroleum is getting ready to redrill Tonner No. 1 the discovery well in the Tonner field, Brea canyon. This well came in 18 months ago at 450 barrels and has decreased to about 75 barrels. It is thought that deepening will increase the production. The original well came in at 1552 feet. Tonner No. 5 is redrilling at 3220 and No. 6 the deep well is sidetracking some drill pipe at 3255. Tonner No. 3 continues to be the G.P.s big producer, doing better than 650 barrels.
The La Habra Midway Oil Co.at less than 900 feet has met with many of the difficulties common to the oil industry. Heaving sand held up the work last week, then a fishing job, and now hard formation has slowed the drilling, the hard shale started at 600 and continues.
The Olinda Land Co.'s No. 23 well that commenced to show light oil soon after the drilling started still continues the good showing, and sometimes startling is being predicted.Drilling is now at 745. No. 22 is drilling at 2850 and is showing lots of oil and gas.
The Petroleum Development Co.'s deep test well, a well that will determine future operations in the old Olinda field is now drilling at 4200 and is showing quite a bit of gas in the hard sand. No. $2 is making hole at 2850 in the shale and showing gas.No.$9 is at 2200 in brown shale.No.$95 is a new well with the rig completed.
The West Coast Oil Co.is about to add to its Olinda production with a well at No.49.Now drilling in the oil sand at 3150 it looks good for 300 barrels.Drilling on No.$83 a new well is at 775 in conglomerate.

Drilling at 3285 in sandy brown shale the Placentia-Pacific Oil No. 1 is showing lots of gas. Drilling is going nicely.
The Placentia Oil Co. is still tied up with a fishing job at 2850. However, some progress is being made and it is believed that the hole will be cleared in a few days.
The Petroleum Development Co. re-drilled, cleaned out and have Bradford No. 1 back producing at 500 barrels. The well was redrilled and cleaned out to 4117. Bradford No. 3 is showing oil in the shale at 4150. Bradford No. 4 is drilling in the conglomerate at 2700. No. 5 is testing water at 3107. Community still stands cemented at 4342. Richfield No. 2 at 2900 is in shale and sand.
Drilling on the Richfield-Torba No. 2 is now at 3342, and a production string. 8-inch pipe is going in. With 200 feet of oil sand drilled through a nice well is expected. Yarnell No. 9 is going ahead at 1850, and No. 1 is making hole in brown shale at 3000. Lumber is going on the ground for Isaaca No. 2. On the Krug property No. 1 is held up temporarily with a fishing job at 2760. No. 2 is drilling in shale at 2500. No. 3 at 1675 is in black shale and No. 5 just started shows 1000 feet of hole. No. 6 is built, and No. 6 is getting the material on the ground for the rig. Consolidated No. 1 is fishing out lost tubing and Consolidated No. 2 is pump-making a temporary production of 45 barrels.
At 3600 feet the Richfield-Giant No. 1 is drilling in hard shale and for several days has been showing good strong oil colors and considerable gas.
The Richfield United Oil Co. put No. 1 on the beam a few days ago. The new well started off with an initial production of about 300 barrels. The well is flowing through 6-inch and would probably do better through tubing. The depth of this well is 3240.
The Ridge Oil Co.'s No. 1 is now drilling at 3100 feet. The formation a brown sandy shale is showing some gas and colors that increase as the well grows deeper. A "with stick" locators predict a good well at 3200.
Completed at 3257 the Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Co.'s Claxton-Warman No.1 went on production today, a 400 barrel well. The oil is 19 gravity product and is comparatively free from water. No. 2 is being rigged up, and No. 3 has been located.
Today the deepest well drilled in the Richfield district is the Standard Oil Co.'s Loftus O'Bryan No.1 now drilling at 4920. The formation is hard sand with only small oil indications. Drilling on Vejar is also going deep, almost 4800 having been reached, without getting any satisfactory showing of oil. Cuff No.1 developed some water.
The West Coast Oil Co. is about to add to its Olinda production with a well at No. 49. Now drilling in the oil sand at 3150 it looks good for 300 barrels. Drilling on No. $2 a new well is at 775 in conglomerate.

On the Kramer property the Standard's next producer will be No.12 now drilling in hard sand at 2800. No.13 is at 2100, and No.14 is at 2400 feet. BREA CANYON TEST WELL SHOWS COLOR
The Brea Canyon Oil Co's test well No.22 is now drilling at 4125 feet and is showing some colors of oil in the sand shale. The present showing does not warrant the prediction of more than a two or three hundred barrel well, and does not look good for a deep production at Brea. No.33 is in the oil sand at 3200 and looks like a nice well. No.2-A at 2445 is in the shale, and drilling.
The Columbia Oil Co. has No.7 on the famous Orange lease in the oil sand drilling at 3425 and is in the off sand. Pico No.2 on adjoining property is also in the oil sand and drilling at 3125. Pico No.3 stands cemented at 2800. Pico No.4 is drilling at 1075 in the conglomerate. On the Menchego property No.1 is making progress cleaning out and drilling at 2200.
