BOON TO ROTARY DRILLERS
L. S. Hamer, 302 E. Commonwealth-ave, an oil field worker, has just patented an expansible packing drub for oil well pumps, which is likely to prove a great boon to rotary well drillers and place Mr. Hamer in the millionaire class.
The packing in the old style drum lasts only from one to five shifts, and a demonstration with the Hamer drum indicates that a single packing will suffice from 20 to 30 shifts.
Associated with Mr. Hamer in the invention are G. C. Deakins and Bud McAlvay of Anaheim, Arranbements have been made with Wilson & Willard, manufacturers of Los Angeles, to manufacture the drum on a royalty basis.
