This committee, which was named by the state market director, Gilbert B. Daniels, following a state wide conference of producers' associations and shippers called at the suggestion of Governor Wm. D. Stephens, is composed of the following named: C. Harold Powell of Los Angeles, general manager of the California Fruit Growers' Exchange. J. F. The governor also stated that the burden imposed upon the people of the state was so great that he felt it the duty of the state government to look into the matter and ascertain if California was being fairly and justly subjected to this great tax on everything that is shipped by railroad in a rout of the state. A quotation from at recent communication of Governor Stephens, to this committee of growers, reads: AMAL. H. B. WELL IS FLOWING 300 BBLS. Huntington Beach The Amalgamated Oil Co.'s Huntington 2-A completed at 2564, is now on production. The well is flowing about 300 barrels a day. Huntington No. 1-A set 10 inch at 2900 feet. Huntington No. 3 is building rig. The Bolsa Chica Oil Co.'s Augur No. 1 now drilling at 1950 feet continues to encounter gas pockets in the hard shell and shale, and makes the drilling a little different from the surrounding wells. The Hurst Syndicate well has now been on production for the third week and the amount of gas, oil and water produced remains about the same. About 800 barrels of fluid is being produced. Of this amount 50 per cent is water. The oil is 17 gravity and is being sold on the ground to the operating companies. The General Petroleum, one of the leading oil companies in the state, has seen fit to enter the Huntington Beach field. The G. P. has leased community property and is building a rig for what will be known as community N. I. Numerous reports had it that the Huntington Central was a 4000 bbl well a few days ago. Such is far from being the case and probably never will be the case. The truth of the matter is that the Huntington Central No. 1 is to go on a pro-destruction test to find out whether or not Central, 4256 feet, drilling showing gas. CANYON WELL OIL SHOWING The Brea Field now at 4035 feet the of oil struck in the Brea Oil Co.'s deep test well No. finished. As the well is now a three inch hole the test carried much further. In deeper sand is not struck it is possible to go back to 3900 make a small producer at drilling on No. 2-A is now at the sandy shale, and No. 33 is in brown shale showing oils and oil. Columbia Oil Producing Co. deleted the cleaning out of No. 2 and is about ready A fishing job at 850 feet set the La Habra Midway Oil back almost a week, and allowed only four feet of new hole to be made. The drill line since starting has been in a very hard and tough shale. The showings of light oil struck by the Olinda Land Co. at the shallow dept of 600 feet still continue and give as much promise at 675 feet as at 600 ft. in Well No. 23. Drilling at No. 22 is at 2475 in hard shale. The deep test well of the Petroleum Development Co. now drilling at 4200 is showing up nicely and the outlook is more promising that it has been at any other time. The hard sand is carrying lots of gas at the 4200 mark. The West Coast Oil Co. is scheduled to bring in another 300 barrel well at No. 49. Now drilling at 3000 feet this well has been in the oil sand for three hundred feet. Drilling on No. 83 is going a little slow in the conglomerate at 550. No. 88 is sidetracking pipe at 1900 feet and is about ready to start drilling on new hole. One of the nicest wells brought in in the old Olinda field has recently been completed by the Columbia Oil Producing Co. at well No. 35. Drilled to 3500 feet this well came in a 500 barrel well and has been holding up very good. This is perhaps the biggest encouragement the Olinda field has received this year. Drilling on the Bastanchury the Standard made something over 1300 feet of hole, bringing the depth of Bastanchury No. 1 down to 1750 ft. The formation continues blue shale. K. of C.
