PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH NOTES
Much interest has been taken by the pupils of the Presbyterian Sunday school in the system of keeping the names of those who know the golden text of the Sunday school lessons perfectly for a month on the honor roll. During the past month the Easter services somewhat interfered with the program but there were eight earnest workers who were thus rewarded. They were Merlin Tobin, George Sloop, Rector Coons, Marguerite and Idaline Schlosser, Mabel White, Ellen Gibbs and Josephine Cook.
Preparations are being made for the Children's Day program which will be given some time in June. The music, which seems uncommonly pleasing, has been received and some little practice was had on last Sunday on abs. Mr. George Ross has been appointed as head of affairs for the program and will appoint the various committees and assign the work. It is believed that this year's program will be very interesting and entertaining.
Next Sunday the regular communion services will be held and on Wednesday evening Dr. Wallace will give a preparatory service at the regular prayer meeting services. As Dr. Wallace expressed it, the members are not only urged to be present, but they are expected to be present.
Miss Anna Crawford has been compelled to give up the pleasures of teaching her Sunday school class for some time on account of the serious trouble she has been having with her eyes.
Mrs. Z. Bruce, who for some time has been compelled to give up some of the active work in the Sunday school, has not been able to leave her home for several days. Her many friends hope for the speedy return of her usual good health and energy.
BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. George Moebius, east of this city, were host and hostess on Sunday to a number of relatives and friends. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Moebius and the affair was in the nature of a fine turkey dinner with all the trimings. Dinner was served at 2 o'clock at a table which was prettily decorated with red and white roses and bits of green. The centerpiece was the 20-pound turkey which was done to exactly the right turn by the careful cook. Three courses were served.
A very pleasant social afternoon was spent by the host, hostess, and their guests. The honoree of the occasion was remembered with a number of fine gifts.
Those who enjoyed the day were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rowe of East Whittier, Mr. and Mrs. Moebius' daughter; Mrs. H. H. Strathmore and family of near Anaheim, and another daughter, Mrs. Bassett R. Robertson and husband of San Diego. The visit of the latter was a pleasant surprise for Mr. and Mrs. Moebius.

The New Piston Ring
that puts power in your motor without reboring and really stops the oil trouble.
This ring is a war time invention which has made good in three years of hard and unusual service, and is now being placed on the market in all sizes.
Its construction is unique and is an achievement in mechanics long thought impossible.
The inner lining ring is of steel formed by a machine developed in California which is capable of making a steel channel of remarkable accuracy at a speed beyond the possibility of any known process.
Owing to the difficulty of getting delivery on these rings we will for the next month confine our efforts to getting samples in the hands of dealers and garage owners, after which we expect to be able to supply the trade.
