NEWS OF FULLERTON
FRENCH BUSY WITH SPEED CASES TODAY
Judge French was again kept busy this morning with speeders, having "laid off" the hoboes for a little season and "sat down" on the traffic violators.
William E. Berry, arrested by Deputy Marshal Ashley, on the charge of speeding, was fined $10. Mr. Ashley declared he was going more than 50 miles an hour but being unable to positively prove it in court, Berry was saved the fate of Bebe Daniels.
H. R. Mahoney of San Diego was fined $10 for speeding.
N. D. Prosser of Pasadena was fined $10 for speeding.
G. G. Clark of Anaheim was fined $5 for running without a tail light.
Judge French apparently is trying to cop the pinion of fame of "death to speeders" from Judge Cox of Santa Ana.

CLASS ELECTS OFFICERS
The King's Daughters, the woman's Bible class of the Christian church, have elected officers as follows: president, Mrs. George L. Story; secretary, Mrs. John P. Houser; guest secretary, Dr. Beatrice McMullen; treasurer, Mrs. Charles Hutchinson.
The King's Daughters is the largest woman's Bible class in Southern California, it is believed, and the ladies have ambitions to rival the men's class, both as to numbers and work accomplished.
INFORM PUBLIC OF NEED
The city trustees of Fullerton are going to start a campaign of education and sentiment right away concerning the forthcoming bond issue for enlarging the city water works, reservoir, and repairs to water pipes. Considerable sentiment has been discovered against the bond issue and a further outlay of money at this time, but this expression, it is contended, results from the fact that the general public is not acquainted with the actual conditions.

Are you Loaded for Bear?
THERE was once a Hunter whose Enthusiasm exceeded his Caution. He used his Last Cartridge to Get a Deer. But—on the Way Back to Camp, with his Rifle Empty, he met a Bear!
There are motorists who start out with a battery that has no reserve power. They pull the battery down with frequent starts. And when they must have one more start to avert an embarrassing engine-stall, the battery whispers: "That's all there is—there isn't any more."
The Prest-O-Lite Battery uses less than one four-hundredth of its power-reserve for a single start—and the generator quickly replaces that.

PLACENTI AGROWERS' SEASON UNDERWAY
The valencia season at the Fullerton plant of the Placentia Orange Growers' assn. got under way Tuesday and is gathering headway.
The working force numbers from 50 to 60 at present and will be increased to 65 or more as they get warmed up to their work. They are getting out three cars a day now, but within a week or two the average will be around four cars. There are about 700 cars of valencias to go from here and a like number from the company's plant at Placentia.
The fruit is of excellent size, quality and condition and the packers have no trouble in maintaining an average of 75 boxes per day. It is expected that the run will keep them going until the middle of November or possibly later.
A car of Fullerton fruit will go out from San Pedro harbor next Sunday in a freight vessel carrying a mixed cargoe to the eastern seaboard.
WILL DIG FOR GOLD
D. E. Hartman is leaving Fullerton with his family the first of the month to take up his residence in Plumas-co, up in the Feather river country, where he will engage in gold mining and lumbering.
He is associated with men from Fullerton, Berkeley and Chicago in a corporation which owns 1400 acres of redwood and pine timber land, on which is located also a well developed and tested placer mining plant which it is proposed to operate.
A portable saw mill has already been shipped north and will be on the ground to install when he gets there.
During the summer W. H. Hendrix and Dr. D. C. Cowles, other Fullerton men who are interested in the deal, will go up to help with the work.

GRUNION FAIL TO APPEAR
A party of about 15 employees of the Central and Sitton garages went to the seashore last night to fish for grunion, a fish which for three nights out of a month during the full moon, for three months in the year, comes up on the sand to lay their eggs. However, they did not come up last night because of the fact that clouds hid the moon. A party from Anaheim also went grunion fishing with like luck. The Fullerton party, not to be outdone, enjoyed a weinie roast.
