TENDER SHOWER TO VICTIMS OF BLAZE YORBA LINDA, April 19—(Special) Several members of the Friends church, together with friends and mollghbds, surprised Mr. 'and Mrs. Geo. Taylor and daughter Olive with a shower Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor recently lost their household articles by fire and their many friends conceived the idea of helping them in this way. Various games were played and a very enjoyable evening spent. Mrs. Chas. H. Selover has returned from a several days' visit with friends at Fillmore. Mrs. Selover's brother, Mr. Welch of Medford, Orc., who has been visiting here, returned by auto to his home last week and Mrs. Selover accompanied him as far as Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Alexander enter, tainted the Mut-na-wah club at their home Thursday evening. Various games were played during the evening and dainty refreshments were served by the hostess. Invited guests included Mr. and Mrs. Lester Burnison, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Theis, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoben, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gulhrie and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Beale. Mr. and Mrs. Hays Dool and son, Robert were out of town visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hazzard of Los Angeles motored out to the Bennick home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bennick and children accompanied them to the beach where they all spent the day. The fa'm bureau meets tonight (Tuesday) at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Day. A good program is assigned with two special speakers and it is hoped there will be a large attendance. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Gallord Page gave them a miscellaneous shower at their pretty home Thursday evening. They received numerous pretty gifts. Cypress News Items CYPRESS, April 19—(Spl.)—Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Norlan are the proud parents of a baby girl born Sunday, morning at six o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. H. LaRue had as their time is sure dragging these days. Mr. and Mrs. Sellers and daughter Mabel and Lois McElhany were all down to the Fullerton park Saturday taking pictures. Mrs. Himmore of Bren, mother of Mrs. Gilford Hammore of this lease was out and spent the day with her daughter Saturday. Mr. Stone killed Harley Coffey—a goal—Sunday morning but—Harley has two more to get so won't miss this one. Mr. Pete Kendflick motored off the lease Sunday in his new Sierldan. Mr. and Mrs. McElhany were visiting the Hollis family in Fullerton Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Cy Delnney were guests at the big Elk ball in Glendale Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Sellers and daughter Mabel were at Orange-co park on a picnic. Misses Axls and Agnes Coffey and Mr. Braton Philbrook were guests at the Wilshire Tea Room last week. MISSION SOCIETY TO MEET ALL DAY BREA, April 19—(Special)—The all day meeting of the United Missionary society meets at Mrs. Merrifield's on S. Pomona-blvd May 4. We want 100 ladies or more to be present. Everybody bring a basket. All-day meeting of P.T.A. at Bren grammar school Tuesday. Everybdy welcome. Little Mabel Wicker, the four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wicker, who has been suffering from an attack of pneumonia, is improving. Mrs. Wicker's mother, Mrs. Erickson, of Los Angeles has been helping care for her but will return to her home soon. Mr. Erickson suffered a paralytic stroke several months ago and is still far from well. & L. Lease G. & L. Lease, April 19.—(Special) Mr. and Mr. Philbrook and daughter, Helen, from Santa Cruz are spending a time in Los Angeles visiting important points of interest and visiting their son, Branton, geologist at the Union oil office in Brea. Miss Avis Coffey and Mr. Philbrook were up there and spent the week-end with the latter's parents. Miss Helen Philbrook expects to pay a call to the Coffey home before her return home. Miss Agnes Coffey and Walter Bonlin of Brea were at the auto show in Santa Ana last week. Mrs. Everett Murray's mother, Mrs. Wade from Missouri, has come to make this her future home. She is living at the home of Mrs. Murray. Miss Mona Clegg and Mr. Bill Outhoused motored off the lease Sunday. Mrs. McElhany was hostess to a farewell dinner last Thursday for her mother, Mrs. Winner, who has left to join Mr. Winner in the north. Her two sons, Kenneth and George, will stay in the south at the time but in the near future all expect to make Orland, where they have a ranch their future home. In the evening they all motored to Los Angeles to see their mother off on the S.P. at 7:30 Mrs. W.T. Wingert of Placentia accompanied them. Auto trains leave the church at 6:30, 7 an 7:30 p.m. A distinctive dish of each country served. The money will be used for the building fund. Countries to be visited are: Italy, Mrs. D.W.Hasson; Mexico, Mrs. Herbert Bixby; Ireland, Mrs. H.H.Haggarty; China, Mrs.B.A.Calloway; America, Mrs.Fred Bastady; Iceland, Mrs.C.L.Knight. A number of Buena Park people took in the Pennsylvania state picnic at Sycamore Grove Saturday, Among them wre Mr. Edwin Martin, Miss Margaret Martin, Mrs.H.H.Haggarty, Mrs.A.Stevenson, Mrs.Armstrong, Mrs.Caldwell, Mrs.L.J.Robeson and children and Miss Irma Robeson with Mr. and Mrs. Orin House of Vah Nays. Mr. and Mrs.J.K.Wymard and daughters of Pasadena who formerly resided here were also seen at the picnic. Mrs.Couta and daughter Lola were Los Angeles visitors Saturday. Miss Ellen Leary of Seattle is visiting with her cousin, Miss Rosg McCarthy and the young ladies have opened the past-week visiting in San Diego. Mrs.W.Shaw is engetaining Mrs.Mark B.Shaw and Miss Emily Shaw of San Bernardino this week Monday they went shopping in Los Angeles and had dinner with Mrs.Shaw's sister Mrs.Clarence Parker. There were 18 members of the Women's club at the federated meeting at Fullerton Friday. Mrs.J.W.Bishop was elected county auditor. Invitations are out for a big wedding that is soon to take place in Santa Ana. Albert Hunter of the boarding house is the man but the name of the young lady has not yet been learned. C. Ryan's last Sunday evening.
