FEDERATED CLUBS MEET
The ninth annual convention of Orange County Federation of Women's Clubs was held at Fullerton yesterday in the LO.O.F., Hall. The morning session opened at ten o'clock with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and America by the audience, led by Mrs. M. H. Sammis of Tustin, county chairman of music; Rev. H. B. Clark, pastor of the Fullerton Methodist Church, gave the invocation, which was followed by the address of welcome by Mrs. W. A. Moore, president of the hostess club; Mrs. Murray Horne of Huntington Beach responded.
A short business session was then held and afterwards Mrs. W. E. Tedford of Santa Ana, county chairman of social welfare, gave an interesting talk on the work of the parental school and what is being done for the delinquent boys and girls. She spoke of the hope that is being fostered for the establishing in the not distant future of an industrial school, where delinquent charges may be taught a trade.
Under the direction of Miss Brown of the music department of the Fullerton grammar schools, the pupils of the kindergarten gave a demonstration in music, which proved very interesting. Mrs. J. E. Gowan of Santa Ana, district chairman of conservation, read a paper on the preservation of natural resources, especially of the forests, which must be protected from fires, and which can only be done by the co-operation of the individual.
Adjournment was then taken for luncheon, which was served at long tables in the dining room, pretty decorated with bouquets of roses. Before the afternoon session the ladies visited the exhibition of foreign arts and crafts under the direction of Miss Minnie Childs of Tustin, county chairman of arts.
Each club donated to this exhibition, in which each country was represented.
The afternoon session opened at 1:30 with singing. Report of credentials and nominating committees and election of officers was then in order which resulted in the follow-

MISSIONARY SOCIETIES MEET
The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church met in the church parlor on Friday afternoon with a goodly number in attendance. The church had been prettily decorated with ferns and gallinaria.
The president and secretary of the society were the committee in charge of the program and also acted as hostesses. The executive of the society at the meeting last week laid out the plans for the work for the year, apportioning to each member her part. The devotional topic chosen for the year was "The Consecration of All Our God-given Powers in Service." The motto for this month was prayer, especially for the work and workers in the society, Mrs. W. T. Wallop, who had charge of the devotional hour, gave a most beautiful and helpful thought on prevailing prayer.
After the roll call, responded to by suitable replies, a beautiful letter from the missionary from this society, Mrs. Hockins, of Syria, was read, as were also several other missionary letters.
"Africa," the foreign topic, was in charge of Mrs. T. S. Grimshaw, who gave some very interesting items of the work in the different fields.
The home topic, "The Freedman," was presented by some excellent papers read by Mrs. Sloop and Mrs. S. Collins.
The meeting closed with a prayer by Miss Nettie Aubert and after the collection had been taken, dainty refreshments were served.
PICNIC AT COUNTY PARK
Members of the 8A class of the Fremont school spent a most enjoyable day today when they picnicked at Orange county park. The class, accompanied by their teacher, Miss Seward, and a number of the parents of the pupil and some friends, met at the school at 9 o'clock and went from there in autos. A picnic dinner was one of the features of the affair, of course, and the usual picnic sports indulged in.
FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED
This morning about eight o'clock the fire department was called to the house.

HENGER-DE WITT NUPTIALS
Miss Nellie Henger and Mr. Theodore DeWitt of Yorba Linda were quietly married on Thursday afternoon. The marriage took place in San Bernardino. Mrs. DeWitt is the daughter of E. Hunger of Yorba Linda and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Martin. The young people will spend a short honeymoon in San Diego after which they will return to Yorba Linda where they will make their future home. The bride was the honoree at a miscellaneous shower on Wednesday afternoon at which Mrs. Martin presided as hostess.
"The Off-Shore Pirate," starring Viola Dana, will be seen at the Fairyland tonight. It is a typical Viola Dana picture, bubbling with a mixture of humor and drama.
"The Greatest Question" will be the feature at the Grand again tonight, starring Dorothy Glish with Robert Harron and the Griffith players. It is a play for a thinker and a wonderful entertainment for all.
"Way Down East" will be seen at the Grand tomorrow and Monday.

A Good Anaheim Creed
—Loyal people in this territory should have a creed, based on the justice of the appeal the home merchants make for a 100 per cent home spirit.

The Creed
Might Be
—I believe in Anaheim. I believe that my pride in the present and my hope for the future should prompt me to buy my goods here and boost for the home people first.
—The above is not an unreasonable creed. The business concerns whose names appear on this page will do their part. It is worth while for you to do yours.
—There is real sound reason why people should buy here. It is not fair for the profit of the business men alone, that the money be spent away from home. This money, if spent here, would employ many more families, who would in turn spend their wealth here again.
