AMAL. HAS SHOWING ON MANN AT 3250
(Placentia-Richfield.)
Drilling on the Amalgamated Oil Co.'s Mann No. 1 has reached 3250 feet and at this depth a nice showing of oil and gas is reported. Page No. 1 still continues in the hard conglomerate and shows 989 feet of hole. Potter No. 2 is drilling in the shale at 2750 and is going good.
The next company to operate extensively in the Placentia-Richfield district will be the Cal-Mex Oil & Reining Co. This new concern has a lease on 22 acres of property joining the Western Union's Robins on which it plans drilling 12 wells. The property is admirably situated, should the Ridge Oil Co.'s No. 1 come in a producer. The Ridge it is understood, is to stand cemented another week. Its drilling out will be watched with considerable interest as it will have a lot-to-do with extending the west side of the Richfield country.
Some real progress is being made by the United Oil Co. in the redrilling and cleaning out of the Clark Oil Co.'s Wetzelell No. 1. At 3400 feet the work is going nicely and it looks as though new hole will be made before very long.
The fullerton Oil Co. is making a casing test on the Anaheim Union at 4065. The cement will be drilled out and the oil sand drilled into before the end of the week. This is scheduled to be the biggest well the Fullerton Oil Co. ever brought in in the California field.
By drilling the Hugo No. 1 from 3200 to 3250, the General Petroleum changed a 60 barrel well to a 500 barrel producer. Hugo No. 1 was brought in a month ago and the best it would do on the pump was about 60 sbls. On cleaning out and drilling 50 feet deeper the production was multiplied by ten. The G. P.'s Group-1 is now drilling in the sand at 4356 and is looking good, good enough to warrant further search for what looks like a deep sand in the Yorba Linda district. The increased production of the Hugo No. 1 well hauled the General Petroleum to resume work on two wells and to
WILL DECIDE FATE OF MASCOTT GREGG
Whittier Field.
The fate of the Mascot Oil Co.'s Gregg No. 2 at Rideout Heights is to be decided this week. On putting the well on a pumping test it was found that a perfect shut-off on the water had been made, but the test would produce no oil. The well pumped dry for several days. A meeting of the Mascot officials is called for this week at which time the fate of the well will be decided. Drilled to 4280 feet, the well at no time showed an encouragement and in all probability it will be abandoned.
The Shell Co. of Calif., is staying with the Baldwin well in the hope of making something out of it. Drilled originally to 4560 the well developed bottom water and was plugged back 800 feet. Now the 4-1-2-inch is to be landed at 3865 and another attempt made at production. Hart No. 1 is 3750, drilling in sandy brown shale. Cole No. 1 in the same formation at 3200 feet.
On the Murphy-Coyote property the Standard has located and started drilling on Nos. 54 and 55, and building a rig for No. 85. No. 83 is standing cemented at 2895 and No. 78 is redrilling at 3535.
Drilling on the Whitley Oil Co.'s No. 5 is being held up at 2200 feet waiting on pipe. No. 6 is making hole in the sandy shale at 1950.
At Santa Fe Springs the Amalgamated Oil Co.'s McNally No. 1 is drilling in rock at 4150. The best that this well has shown is a little gas.
At 3450 feet the Bandinl Oil Co. had the misfortune to have a string of pipe part, and until the pipe can be recovered and put back the drilling will be held up.
The Wilshire Oil Co.'s 5100 foot well at Santa Fe Springs has been plugged back to 4920 and is now standing-cemented for the second time. The well has made a good showing and will be a producer as son as the water is shut off.
The Loheigh No. 1 well drilled on the old New England property is not

10 acres set to 6-year-old valenclas: 4 acres in barley seeded to alfalfa; Soil, Al, domestic well; All piped. Int. in pumping plant. Will house, garage home and us at once
2320 to 3250, the General Petroleum changed a 60 barrel well to a 500 barrel producer. Hugo No. 1 was brought in a month ago and the best it would do on the pump was about 60 bbls. On cleaning out and drilling 50 feet deeper the production was multiplied by ten. The G. P. Group 5-1 is now drilling in the sand at 4350 and is looking good, good enough to warrant further search for what looks like a deep sand in the Yorba Linda district. The increased production of the Hugo No. 1 well has scoured the General Petroleum to resume work on two wells and to start a new well in the Yorba Linda district.
From all indications and present performances the Harrington-Dunn Oil Co. has a big well. The well is flowing and at times produces as high as a thousand barrels a day. At no time does the rate of production drop below 50 barrels. As soon as the perforated pipe can be put in the bottom and the well put in the best production condition it should settle down to not less than 600 barrels.
Richfield Giant, formerly Heern No. 1 is having its share of the hard sand drilling. Striking the hard formation at 800 feet it has continued almost unbroken to the present depth of 2355.
The Orange County Petroleum Co.'s No. 1 drilling at Orange-co park is now making hole at 1125 feet. The formation is hard shale.
At 3000 feet the Placentia Pacific Oil Co. got out of the hard conglomerate that has made a lot of slow drilling and struck the blue shale. At 3060 feet, the present depth off the well, the blue shale is still continuing and the considerable oil and gas are showing.
At 2850 feet, just where the formation commenced showing a good sand that carried considerable oil and gas the drill pipe twisted off, leaving a drill collar and bit in the hole. As the fishing goes on the showing in the well seems to increase giving it a very promising outlook.
The Petroleum Development Co. have been delayed somewhat in the bringing of Bradford No. 1, a well that looks like the P. D.'s best bet in the field. On account of sand heaving it has been necessary to go back to 4077 and clean out the 4100 foot before finally putting it on the pump, Bradford No. 3 is drilling in grey sand at 3975, and No. 4 in conglomerate at 2000. Bradford Bros. No. 1 has settled down to a 200 bbl well. Bradford Community is standing cemented at 4342. Richfield No. 2 is drilling in the conglomerate at 2000 feet.
The Petroleum Midway brought into one of the big wells of the week at Richfield by putting Isaacs No. 1 on the pump at 450 barrels. Drilled to 2940 feet the Isaacs spring something of a surprise and came in a little better than expected. At Yarrell No. 2 the Petroleum Midway has decided to go deeper and dupli-
At 3450 feet the Bandin, Oil Co. had the misfortune to have a string of pipe part, and until the pipe can be recovered and put back the drilling will be held up.
The Wilshire Oil Co.'s 5160 foot well at Santa Fe Springs has been plugged back to 4920 and is now standing re-cemented for the second time. The well has made a good showing and will be a producer as son as the water is shut off.
The Loheigh No. 1 well drilled on the old New England property is not making much more than 15 barrels a day. It came some months age at 50 barrels, but dropped quickly. It will probably be redrilled.
The Pasadena-Puente Oil Co. is now drilling and late reports from the well has it that 200 feet has been drilled. Cable tools are being used.
The Union Oil Co.'s Gregg No. 1 at Rideout Helights is now making hole at 3550. At this depth the formation is blue shale with no oil indications. Meyer No. 4 is 3765 in the hard sand and No. 5 is standing cemented at 2000.
at 4600 and is not showing any more oil indications. Collins No. 2 put on the pump at 4635 is making 215 barrels.
The Standard's deep test well at Kraemer 1-5 is held up with a fishing bat jab 4110 feet. On the Kraemer No. property No. 9 looks like the next big one. Now drilling at 4235 No. 9 is in the oil sand and showing up strong. K. 2-10 is drilling deeper at 4050. K. 2-12 is standing cemented at 3165. Z-13 is in the hard sand at 1550 and J-14 is drilling at 700 feet. Kraemer-2-15 is a new well rigging up.
The Wonder Oil Co.'s No. 1 is now drilling at 3875 and showing lots of oil and gas, in fact the formation for more than a hundred feet has been showing great quantities of oil. Keck, the contract driller, has made a fine record drilling this deep well.
The present indications at Chapman No. 2 substantiates the prediction that it is the location of the Union Oil Co.'s next big well in the Richfield district. At 2635 the formation is a nexcellent oil sand and the well is very gassy. No. 5 is in the oil sand at 4056 and cleaned out. No. 7 is in the oil sand at 4260. No.9 shows 3275 feet of hole and No.10 is making hole at 3000 feet. No.11 is a new well started to drill, and No12 shows 2500 feet of hole. Thompson-Godwin No. 2 is now at 3100 and looking very good. McFadden N.2 is in the oil sand at 3-200 and should make a nice well. On the Morse lease No. 5 is the next producer, now the well is standing cemented at 3135. Coyles & Bogue No.1 in the oil sand at 4032 has all the carmarks of a god well. Placentia Orchard No.1 moved the rig and is 600 feet down on the new hole. Norba Linda Group No.1 failed to stand up to its initial production of 550 barrels and is being re-used.
At 3450 feet the Bandin, Oil Co., had the misfortune to have a string of pipe part, and until the pipe can be recovered and put back the drilling will be held up.
The Wilshire Oil Co.'s 5160 foot wall at Santa Fe Springs has been plugged back to 4920 and is now standing re-cemented for the second time. The well has made a good showing and will be a producer as son as the water is shut off.
The Loheigh No.1 well drilled on the old New England property is not making much more than 15 barrels a day. It came some months age at 50 barrels, but dropped quickly. It will probably be redrilled.
