REFUSE TO ACCEPT STATOM RESIGNATION
The annual supper of the First Presbyterian church of Fullerton was held at the Gymn arena just back of the church last night, there being about 250 persons present. The meeting was devoted exclusively to business, C. R. Allen and Dr. Golbar being elected elders; Angus McAulay, trustee, and E. W. Dean, treasurer. Rev. E. J. Statom explained that he had tendered his resignation because of ill health, and did not feel that he should continue as pastor while unable to give the church the service it should have. P. E. Moll acted as moderator when Rev.

Sebastian Bros. Put On Big Red Letter Sale
One of the big events in the Anaheim retail world the coming month is the Red Letter Sale of Sebastian Brothers. Besides local advertising, this firm has distributed thousands of Red Letter large circulars. In the circular, under the head of "Notions," J. P. Coat's mercerized crochet cotton is listed per ball 2 for 15c; this should have read "15c." Also, "100 yards spool of sewing silk thread 15c each;" this should read 2 spools for 25c. In the glove section is a leather palm 8-ounce white cannon flannel cloth, fingers and thumb of yellow muleskin, guaranteed knit wrist listed at 37c; the price should read 29c.
The people of the Anaheim district will be and should be greatly interested in this mammoth Red Letter Sale of Sebastian Brothers. There are real bargains in the announcement, which goes to prove the great value of shopping in Anaheim.

DISCUSS FLOOD PROTECTION
Protection from storm waters overflowing from Santiago creek will be the main topic for discussion at the Tustin farm center meeting at the school house there next Friday area.
He proposed the organization of an Orange co Harbor Assn, which met a quick response about half of those present becoming members. The purpose of the association is to foster harbor improvement and to do everything possible to get trade for the new harbor, as it is a better natural harbor than that at San Pedro or Long Beach. There is an opportunity to obtain a naval base in the new harbor, he declared. He stated also that it will be possible to ship citrus fruits thru the new harbor to eastern ports at an expense of more than $200 a car less than required to salp by rail.
Chas. A. Eygabroad, of Anaheim, added emphasis to this by telling of a recent shipment of lemons to Savannah which netted the grower 6 cents more on the box than a like shipment sent by rail, due to the lower cost of shipment by water.
William T. Wallop, chairman of the committee from the Anaheim C. o. C. to investigate the county engineering department, read the report of the committee, which stated that it is impossible to tell the cost of the building of roads by the figures from the office of the county engineer, since many of them, the report declared, are not credited, and the books are kept in a haphazard manner. It printed out specifically certain drafts which were not credited to any expenditure. The report charged wilful negligence, and stated that if the county engineer's office gives out any figures purported to be exact on the cost of building the roads of the county, these figures are "patched up to suit the occasion" and are not correct or else the county engineer has a secretive method of keeping books.
The report further recommends that the office of county engineer be declared vacant; that the "gross overhead expense of the engineering department" be cut down; that the legality of increases in the salary of members of the engineering department be investigated and also the legality of some payments made, and, if found to be illegal, steps be taken to recover this of the county engi-
