CELEBRATES 16TH BIRTHDAY OF SON CYPRESS, March 31.—(SpL.)—Mrs. Wm. Abplannip entertained Wednesday evening in honor of the 16th birthday anniversary of her son, Wilton, the guests being a number of high school students. Not all who were invited were able to come but those who were present report a very enjoyable evening spent in games and with music. Refreshments consisting of baled custard, cake, home-made candy and punch were served. The honoree received a number of nice gifts among them being a fountain pen, ties, handkerchiefs and a sum of money to invest in a wireless outfit. Those who enjoyed the event were Elmer McWilliams, Louis Lee, Ed Seims, Helen Hollingsworth, Milfred Lucas, the young honoree and his father and mother. Mrs. Wm. Abplannip is expecting the return of her mother, Mrs. Goodrich, her sister, Mrs. Sproule and husband, from their cottage at Ocean-side where they have been enrolling location. They will arrive Brides and Mr. and Mrs. Soroule will remain until Sunday when they will go to their home in Hemet. Mrs. Goodrich will remain for a lot of visit. Mr. and Mrs. Cutter spent the day last Sunday at Huntington Beach, where they are very much interested in the progress of the new well in which they have an interest. The well has been cemented the second time. Some people at Cypress sold their homes and others contemplated selling but owing to pretty good prospects for oil in this locality those having property for sale have taken it off the market. Considerable adrège has been signed up in a community lease and drilling is expected to begin in the near future. Jim Jeffries of prize fighting renown, has recently purchased a tract of over 200 acres of land southwest of Cypress with a view to its being a good oil prospect. Land with oil gravel has been located three miles cross-country from Cypress. —If it's from Witman's, it's good! A Mighty Valuable Booklet just issued by the Ford Motor Company.
