AMALGAMATED OIL CO. SPUDS BREEN 2
Placeitia-Richfield
The Amalgamated Oil Co. spudded in and started drilling on Breen No. 2 the beginning of the week. Drilling on Mann No. 1 is going good in the hard sand at 3200. The well is looking rather good. Page No. 1 is still in the hard conglomerate at 900, is going good but a little slow on account of the hard formation. Potter No. 2 shows 2600 feet of hole, drilling in shale.
-The Bixby Ranch Syndicate, at 3:450, got out of the long run of white water sand, struck at 3200, and is now drilling in a hard sand at 3500 feet.
Redrilling and cleaning out on the Clark Oil Co.'s Wetzell No. 1 continues to go good. At 3250 the drilling is getting by the pipe nicely, and barring mishaps the remaining 800 feet of hole should be recovered quickly. Chances to duplicate a Standard Kraconer are good on the Clark.
The Fullerton Oil Co. set pipe at the Anaheim well the first of the week at 4065 feet. The depth of the hole is 4206, and has been showing up very nicely. The Fullerton Oil Co. should get one of the big wells of the Richfield district on the Anaheim Union.
The General Petroleum continues to be one of the heavy operators in the Richfield district, and at present has 12 wells drilling. Group 2-1 at 4225 is in shale. Group 4-3 is rigging up the rotary to resume drilling at 3150. Group 4-4 is a new well with 700 feet of hole. Brown No. 1 at 1550 is in the conglomerate. Marshburn No. 1 at 3403 set 10-inch. Osman No. 1 at 2900 is drilling in shale and boulders. Stern No. 5 is testing water at 3005. Thompson No. 4 has settled down to a regular production of 600 barrels. Drilling at Davis No. 1 is at 3220. Argo No. 1 is rigging to deepen in the hope of making a better wet.
The Harrington-Dumas well started flowing last Saturday a little ahead of schedule. The pipe, perforated has not been put on bottom as yet and no real line on the well can be gotten until the pipe is down and production conditions made good. As far as can be ascertained now and from studying the well's action the figure is placed at about 400 barrels.
Henceforth the drilling operations formerly carried under the heading of Heffern No. 2 will appear listed the Richfield Giant. It seems that the old Heffern Co. and interests have been reorganized and the name of the above now at 2200 in hard sand.
Drilling on the Long solidated No. 1 is now at grey sand. The well has shown anything particular to the National Security Oil about 1300 feet of hole made.
At 2925 the Placentil still in the fool a tour harrane and sand. The harrane struck at 2825 and had with the exception of a fame harrane formation.
At 2850 feet the Place struck a sufficient show warrant the considerationing down and setting pipe. This is the first pipe of oil the well has had in a real surprise.
From all indications am Development Co. will produce at Bradford No. to 4077 feet the well having up exceptionally should make a 350 or well Bradford No. 2 drilling in grey sand. At 3650 stands cement Bros. No. 1 being built in at 3520; Indications bringing in of a 2000 Bradford Community Nemented at 4342, Drill field No. 2 is at 1200 sand.
The Petroleum Midway running nicely in the Harrienne and is now getting producers. Yarnell No back doing 500 barrel stands 1200 barrels regis drilling and shows o feet. Drilling on No. 350, No. 11, comple seems good for about Isaacs No. 1 at 2925 plenty of oil sand. St is waiting on the wa before going ahead I is now drilling at 1450 being rigged up.
It now appears that Consolidated will get out difficulty at No. 2 well producing in a sh string of six-inch is to tom. With this pipe in heaving sand trouble l

THE UNIVERSAL CAR
The Ford car can well be called the "peoples car," because there are more than 3,000,000 of them in daily operation. That is about four to one of the nearest follower in the motor car industry. This would not be so if the Ford car had not for sixteen years proven its superiority in service, in durability, and in the low cost for operation and maintenance; this would not be so if the Ford car was not so easy to understand, so simple in construction that anybody and everybody can safely drive it. Let us have your order for one now to avoid delay in delivery.

ARCADIA WASHING OVER, CUTTING PIPE
Montebello Field
Washing over a cutting off drill pipe lost in the Arcadia Oil well still continues. About 1000 feet more of pipe is in the hole.
The Columbia Oil Co. is rigging up to start drilling on the Scott Arnold No. 1. Adobe No. 4 is standing idle at 3250. Adobe No. 5 is drilling in hard sand at 2350, and is making good progress.
The General Petroleum is making preparations to bring in Cruz No. 3 at 3137 feet. It was the intention to go deeper on the well but mechanical troubles prevented. Indications warrant the prediction of a 200-barrate well.
The La Merced Oil Co.'s Manly No. 1 set a string of eight-inch at 2661. The results of this cementing will be known in a few days. If successful the well will be put on production. Some good showings have been noted.
The McGinley Oil Co. has redrilled No. 1 and put it back on the pump, doing 400 barrels. No. 5 also redrilled, went on production a 50-barrel well. No. 11 is drilling at 3165, and No. 12 is fishing at 2800. No. 13 is being rigged up for the rotary and will start in a few days.
The Montebello Crude Oil Co. is now drilling on the Walters No. 2 and at 2000 feet the drilling is going good in the shale. Walters No. 1 is down 3100 feet. The six-inch pipe is going in and drilling is going ahead.
The Pan American has a rather complicated fishing job with two strings of tools lost in the hole. This disaster happened at 3300 feet.
The Petroleum Midway is rigging up on Baldwin No. 7 with the intention of drilling the well deeper. Baldwin No. 11 is drilling at 2100 in shale and boulders. P & B. No. 2 is also drilling deeper and shows 2800 feet of hole. Prugh No. 9 is making hole at 1600 feet and is going good.
On the famous Temple property the Standard has located No. 14, a new well. Work on the new location begins at once. Drilling on No. 13

Drilling on No. 2 is now at 350. No. 11 completed at 3450, seems good for about 300 barrels. Isaacs No. 1 at 2925 is showing plenty of oil sand. Steimer No. 1 is waiting on the water situation before going ahead. Krugg No. 1 is now drilling at 1450 and No. 2 is being rigged up.
It now appears that the Richfield Consolidated will get out of its present difficulty at No. 2 and have the well producing in a short time. A string of six-inch in to be set on bottom. With this pipe in position the hauling sand trouble is supposed to be ended. Milling on lost tubing at No. 1 is about completed, and with its completion redrilling and deepening will start.
It does not seem possible perhaps but the Richfield-Yorba made a flow early this week and produced at the rate of 95 barrels a day. Work on the experiments with an air compressor still continues with but little success as yet.
The Richfield-United is putting in six-inch pipe and expects to re-cement at 3197 and shut off all intermediate water. Drilling will resume as soon as the water troubles are taken care of.
Superintendent Johnson has things going good on the Richfield Union Petroleum Co. Drilling is now at 3050 with an occasional gas showing that makes the outlook encouraging.
The Ridge Oil Co.'s No. 1 is to stand cemented for another week. In the meantime a cellar is being dug and general repairs made.
Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Co.'s No. 1 Wardman at 3045 feet struck a nice showing of oil. The water string will probably be set before further drilling is done. Dominguez No. 1 is close to 3400 in hard sand.
Not satisfied with the way Kraemer 2-10 is performing the Standard is getting ready to drill the well deeper. At 4000 feet this well was brought in about ten days ago and made only about 2000 barrels initial production. The drilling deeper is expected to produce a 1000-barrel well. Kraemer 2-9 is now at 4000 feet in shale. No. 12 set 10-inch at 3170. No. 13 is drilling at 1300 feet and No. 14 at 600 feet. On the Kraemer No. 1 property No. 5 is deepening at 4100 feet, and No. 13 is reaming to set pipe at 1500 feet. Collins No. 2 is back on the beam, its production being raised by cementing and shutting off water from 100 to 200 barrels. Drilling on Vejar No. 1 continues at close to 4,600 feet, the formation a hard sand, shows little indications of oil.
The Wonder Oil Co.'s well on the Kraemer home place at 3650 feet is looking good and will make one of the big wells of the Richfield district. It is the intention to go to 3900 or 4000 before stopping the drilling.
Chapman No. 1, the discovery well, is two years old this month and since it came in has averaged 1700 barrels a day and made more than a million and a quarter barrels of oil. No. 5 is in the oil sand clean-

head of Newport Bay. It is understood that the work on this test well is to commence at once.
The H.T. & K.Syndicate well No. 1 has been on the beam pumping wafer for about ten days. The outlook to date for a well is not very encouraging. It is that that the water is coming in from above the oil sands.
At the Interstate Oil Co.'s Mesa No. 1 the Interstate Oil Co.' got a nice showing of oil at 3280 feet, making the well look rather promising. Norris No. 1 is to be cemented at 2150, the lost pipe to be side-tracked later and the drilling resumed. Newport Heights No. 1 stands cemented at 87 feet and also Irvine No. 1 at 270 feet.
The Long Beach Consolidated Oil Co.' got the tar sand at 330 feet and put in a liner to protect from caving sands. It is the intention of the Consolidated to produce this heavy tar and manufacture asphaltum for the trade. The heavy fluid in the well is to be artificially heated so it can be pumped from the hole.

No. 5 is in the oil sand cleaning out at 4056. No. 6 is in the hard sand drilling at 3400. No. 7, at 4.260, is about ready to bring in and looks good. Drilling on No. 9 is at 2250.. No. 10 shows 3000 feet of hole and No. 12, 2250 feet drilled.
Drilling on Thompson-Goodwin No. 2 is now at 3075 with the cement drilled out and drilling going right ahead. Rigging up with the intention of starting immediate drilling on No. 5 is about completed. Coyle & Bogue No. 1 is in the oil sand at 4035 and locks like a good well. Yorba No. 1 is drilling in gray sand at 3750. Stern No. 1 is in the oil sand but is held up on account of a fishing job. Placentia Orchard No. 1-A spudded in and shows 200 feet of hole. Yorba Linda Group No. 1 finished at 2975, looks good for a 200-barrel well.
TEST OUT 5100-FOOT WELL (Santa Fe Springs District)
Drilling on the Analkamated Oil Co.'s MacNally No. 1 has reached 4100 feet. The shale formations at this depth show some gas.
The Wilshire Oil Co.'s deep test well drilled to 5100 feet is ready to test out for a second attempt at shutting off water at 4985. Bailing and tests made to date look like the water shut off had been successfully accomplished.
CLAM BROTH
