PLACENTIA 500 CLUB MEETS
The Placentia Five Hundred club met Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Arthur Edwards for their regular meeting. The playing of Five Hundred was the pleasant diversion for the early evening hours, while at midnight the hostess served a splendid four-course supper.
High score was won by Mrs. O. H. Schumacher, second by Mrs. Geooge Annin, and the consolation by Mrs. Cobb. For the gentlemen, Mr. Chas. Stone won high score, Chas. Hansen second, and the consolation to Mr. John Lemke.
The members present were Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Schumacher, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. George Annin, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Annin, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. John Heteebrink, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. John Lemke, Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner, Mrs. Hattie Hetebrink, and Miss Lucy Adams.
AHLBORNS ENTERTAIN
Mr. and Mrs. J. Frederick Ahlborn were host and hostess on Saturday evening to a number of friends at their home, Cypress Villa. The affair was a courtesy for their consin; Mr. Darrell Roberts of Omaha, Neb., who is a house guest in the Ahlborn home. The guests included Elks and their wives and there were about 20 present.
Dancing formed the chief amusement of the evening. Refreshments were served during the hours of entertainment.

YORKERS ENTERTAIN
Mr. and Mrs. A.J.Yorker entertained a number of friends at their home on Sunkist-ave Sunday at a turkey dinner. The usual good things which accompany the fowl on such an occasion were on the table, of course, and the guests did ample justice to the menu.
A pleasant afternoon was spent in a social manner.
The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Louis Alnsley of Travers City, Mich., and Mrs. George Carrigan of Detroit, Mich., who have been spending the winter months in California, and Mr. and Mrs.A.W.Black of East Anaheim.
ENJOYABLE AFFAIR
The apron and overall dance given in the I.O.O.F.hall last evening by the Yeoman lodge was a very enjoyable affair. The festivities of the evening were indulged in by about 75 couples, who enjoyed the dancing to the good music furnished by Heffner's orchestra. During the evening refreshments were served.
These dances are being given regularly for the purpose of raising money to defray the expenses of sending the ladies' drill team of the lodge to Sacramento very soon, where they will compete with teams from other Yeoman lodges for a large cash prize.

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED
Mrs. F. H. Garrison was pleasantly surprised Saturday afternoon when a number of her intimate friends gathered at her home and surprised her, the occasion being her birthday anniversary.
The ladies brought their fancy work, and while the fingers were kept busy, they chatted and visited. Late in the afternoon refreshments, prepared by the guests were enjoyed. Those enjoying this delightful informal affair were Mesdames E. H.

NEBRASKA PICNIC THURSDAY
Former Nebraskaans now living in Orange county were apprised today that the annual picnic reunion of the Nebraskans of Southern California was postponed from last Saturday until Thursday, March 17. The afair will be held in Sycamore Grove park, Los Angeles, as planned. Col. F. M. Ruble, Col. Frank H. True and George E. Cryer will be speak-ers.
ONE O'CLOCK LUNCHEON
Mrs. A. H. Witman was hostess today at a one o'clock luncheon at her home 707 N. Los Angeles-st.
The rooms of the Witman home had been prettily decorated with spring blossoms and these were also used in the decorations for the dining room table. A dainty luncheon menu was served and the afternoon spent socially.
STAR WHIST CLUB MEETS FRI.
The members of the Star Whist club will meet Friday afternoon, March 17, at two o'clock at the Macsic Temple, Mrs. Henry Hansen and Mrs. Wm. Webb, Sr., will act as hostesses. The members who will be unable to attend he club meeting are requested to inform the president.
PLAN ALL-DAY MEETING
The Ladies' Aid society of the Presbyterian church will hold an all-day meeting in the church parlors on Friday, March 18th. The hostesses for the day will provide co-friends.

Miss Betz has been suffering from an attack of influenza and has had a trained nurse in attendance.
Miss L.Meyer and daughter, Miss guirite, arrived last Friday from their home in San Antonio, Tex., for an extended visit in the E.Wisse home, 150 S.Lemon-st., The ladies are sisters-in-law.
Mr.Walter Revelv, who is attending the Palmer school of chiropractic at Davonport, Iowa, has been a visitor in Anaheim for several days.Hwas on a flying business trip, starting back east today.
Mrs.Martha Whitney of Pollock S.D., who has been the guest of Mrs.H.Brisco, 147 I.E.Sycamore-st., has gone to Long Beach for a visit with relatives.Miss Whitney has spent two months in Oregon and California.Mrs.Maidh and Mrs.J.W.Wallop were in Los Angeles Monday evening, where they attended the fashion show at the Ana-bassador hotel. They report a most enjoyable time and glimpses of very beautiful spring costumes.

At the annual meeting of the American Berkshire Congress, held at Philadelphia,D.J.Bastanchury,ofLaHa br,a was elected president and it was decided that the 1922 congress meeting will be held at Riverside. This is the first time that the American Berkshire Congress has met in the west and it expected that the Western Berkshire Congress will co-operate in the main argument of the event.

A large number of local Knights of Columbus attended an open meeting of the Santa Ana K. C. lodge last evening, and heard an interesting address delivered by Atty. Joseph Scott of Los Angeles on his experiences during the war.

WASHINGTON, March 15.—Robert Wood Bliss has been named third assistant secretary of state, it was learned today. Bliss has spent a number of years in the American diplomatic service and is head of western European affairs in the state department.

FORMER MINISTER OF TURKEY KILLED
BERLIN, March 15—Talaat Pasha, former minister in the Turkish government, long a power in the Turkish national affairs, was assassinated at noon today.
He was killed at his residence in Hardenburgstrasse by an Armenian.
