SOCIETY: Clubs : Lodges : Churches SHOWER MISS DeWITT On Thursday evening the ladies of the Anaheim Citrus Fruit Asan gave a very pleasant surprise shower for Miss Ethel DeWitt at the home of the Misses Aubert; 559 S. Los Angeles-st. Miss DeWitt's marriage will be an event of the early summer. The first part of the evening was devoted to jolly games and conversation. These were followed by the bringing in of a large basket of parcels which Miss Ethel was requested to open. After examining and admiring the contents and exclaiming over the pretty gifts, an elaborate luncheon was served, prepared by the ladies of the association. Those present were: Mesdames George Jackson, Nyland, Stull, McKinley, Lenz, Vivian Mercher and daughter, Olive, West, DeWitt, Lopez, and the Misses Ethel DeWitt, Lucille Fox; Cathie Bell, Pauline Vetter, May Betzold, Martha Schwartz, and the hostesses, the Misses Aubert. Also a number of friends, unable to be present in person were represented by gifts. MRS. TURCK ENTERTAINS Mrs. E. R. Turck of N. Lemon-st. was the hostess on Thursday afternoon to the members of the Thursday Euchre Club. Spring blossoms were used for decorations, making the rooms very pretty. At the close of the games when scores were counted, it was found that Mrs. G. W. Sandilands held high score, Mrs. Wegner, second and Miss Dora Zayn, consolation. Late in the afternoon the hostess served a luncheon to the guests including Mesdames Joe Carroll, C. F. Grim, Frank Tauisch, M. J. Bradley, Frank Shanley, F. A. Broadway, charmingly entertained yesterday afternoon the Golden West Club. The decorations were all in keeping with St. Patrick's day, with fresias and daisies as the flowers. In the center of the dining table, at which a delicious three course luncheon was served late in the afternoon, was a large basket filled with grevillea, resting on the handle and about the sides of the basket were butterflies made of filmy paper, hand painted. The place cards represented roses done in green, and on each of these was a butterfly. The afternoon was spent about the card tables with the first prize awarded to Mrs. John Cook, second to Mrs. Gene Adams. The ladies present were Mmes. John Cook, Gene Adams, Henry Hansen, Nellie Wagner, Wm. Selmann, Frank Borth, Frank Frost, William Houts, Ben Houts, Sr., E. L. Barmes, Hattie Pearson. ONE O'CLOCK LUNCHEON A very pleasant affair of yesterday was the one o'clock luncheon given by Mrs. Eliza Mills at her home on N. Philadelphia-st, for a small company of friends. The luncheon table which was prettily laid was centered with a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses. The afternoon was spent in social chat and fancy work. The invited guests included Mrs. Jeanette Johnston, Mrs. H. A. Johnston, Mrs. W. M. Wickett, Mrs. Norman Withrow, Mrs. George Ross and son, Donald, Miss Florence Balfour. ENTERTAINS O. E. S. 500 CLUB Mrs. E. Wents, of Orangethorpe-ave, Fullerton, entertained the members of the Star Five Hundred Club at her home Friday afternoon. The time was spent in the usual way, about the card tables, with prizes for high score to Mrs. J. A. Clayes, Mrs. Walters and Mrs. H. O. Henderson. During a social hour which followed, the hostess served a very dainty luncheon to the guests who included Mesdames J. A. Clayes, H. O. Henderson, Walters of Fullerton, C. H. Mann, J.Kellenberger, E.H.Metcalf, A.E.Schumacher, McKee of Fullerton, Gardiner of Fullerton, G.M.Simpson, W.P.Qarton and the hostess. MISS FULWIDER HONORED Miss Blanche Fulwider was the honored guest yesterday at two very delightful social affairs given by her mother, Mrs.J.M.Casey, in honor of her birthday anniversary. In the afternoon a very pleasant time was spent with Mrs.Renner,Mrs.C.W Martin,Mrs.R.H.Seale,Miss Fulwider and Mrs.Casey present, while in the evening a splendid dinner was served, the guests including members of the family,and other relatives. The table decorations were in yellow and green,yellow jonguls being the flowers used ,while the favors were pretty affairs in yellow. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs.O.H.Renner,Russell Renner,Mr and Mrs.R.H.Seale,Mr and Mrs.J.M.Casey,Miss Blanche Fulwider and Mr.Bert Morley.Following the dinner the evening was spent in visiting,and enjoying some good music. PLEASANT AFTERNOON A very pleasant afternoon was spent on Thursday at the home of Mrs.J.H.Solls ,when the members of the Placentia Country Club were entertained.Cards were enjoyed with the prize for high score going to Mrs.Eric Lamhoffer,and the consolation to Mrs.V.H.Robertson.At the close of the games delicious refreshments were served.
