DEHYDRATED CITRUS PULP MANUFACTURED
Walter Cadman of the newly incorporated Citricube Co., states that the business with which the corporation will be immediately concerned will be the manufacture and sale of a concentrated, dehydrated pulp from oranges and lemons which for various reasons are unsuitable for packing.
This is the solution of the cull fruit question, declared Mr. Cadman, and is of direct interest to all growers of citrus fruits.
The company will control the secret process for which patents are now pending and the product will be made in cube form, each cube of a size to make a certain quantity of jelly or marmalade, and designed for home or factory use after reaching its destination by the simple addition of sugar and water.
After the details of organization are completed, the company will erect a factory at some central point in the citrus belt and install specially designed apparatus of suitable capacity to use a ton of fruit per day, as the first unit, and enlarge later as needful.

NEW DEVICE TO CURB LOADS NOW IN USE
In addition to carrying stop watches with which to keep a check on speeding automobiles, Orange county traffic officers are now equipped with weighing jacks, or "loadometers" secured by County Purchasing Agent F. W. Shabaugh at the direction of the board of supervisors.
The device will be used by all of the traffic officers in testing the weight of trucks that appear to be overloaded. If the loadometer indicates that the truck is carrying a load in excess of 23,400 pounds the truck driver will then be ordered to the nearest public scale where the exact amount of the overload can be determined.
The loadometer is operated by slipping it under the truck axle. The truck is then jacked up by means of a screw-jack mounted on the plunger of the loadometer. The base of the instrument is an oil-filled cylinder in which the plunger operates, and the weight carried by the plunger is indicated on a high pressure gauge connected to the oil chamber.
By using a pair of the loadometers under the rear axle of a truck the maximum load per inch of tire width is easily determined, as the greatest weight is always carried by the rear axle of a loaded truck. The maximum weight fixed by the county ordinance is 23,400 pounds, or 650 pounds per inch of loaded tire width up to this maximum weight. The Matters pertaining to bee culture and honey producing were included in the talks. The principal speakers were members of the faculty of the college of agriculture, Berkeley.
More than 500 beekeepers attended the meeting. Pleasantia was the only representative from this section of So. Cal.
Dozen Attractions In City All Next Week
Every noon and every evening next week, starting Monday night, the Anaheim Elks band will have charge of the Groff trained animal show and aired attractions, shown here for the benefit of the band.
A dozen attractions make up the Groff company, chief of which is the trained animal show, presenting all features of a big circus. The circus slideshow is another worthwhile attraction. "Superba," the show beautiful, is said to be an attraction of an unusual merit.
The big thriller is the Captive Seaplane, newest and most sensational riding device ever constructed. The "planes," as they buzz thru the air give all the sensations of a trip thru the clouds. The machine dips and performs other maneuvers while in the air. Also there is the ever-popular merry-go-round and other rides devices for enjoyment of the little and grown-up kiddles.
During the 1920 orange show at San Bernardino, the Groff company furnished all the amusements, and a letter from orange show officials on regular rerun by the company is believed to serve water.
It was found that in nearly every instance private owners were willing to help out in an emergency. They are not willing at this time, however, to contract to supply the company with extra water when needed.
Many of the owners of private plants have been supplying their neighbors with pump water, but it is said that a great many of them have discontinued this practice thru fear of coming under the jurisdiction of the railroad commission as public utilities.
It is estimated that private plants produced 2500 inches at the park load of summer pumping. This is equivalent to 25 heads of ditch water.
A new plan of distributing water
By using a pair of the loadometers under the rear axle of a truck the maximum load per inch of tire width is easily determined, as the greatest weight is always carried by the rear axle of a loaded truck. The maximum weight fixed by the county ordinance is 23,400 pounds, or 650 pounds per inch of loaded tire width up to this maximum weight. The maximum load on pneumatic tires is 700 pounds to the inch; but few pneumatic tires will carry an overload without a blowout.
Forty dollars more in fines was collected by Justice of the Peace Cox, the fines being assessed on two truck drivers of the Union Motor Transportation company.
Complaints have been issued against six other drivers.
District Attorney A. P. Nelson stated today that he had heard from several more trucking concerns.
PLEASANTS REFUSES OFFICE IN BEE AS5N.

BEAUTIFUL SERVICE OVER ROBT. E. VAUGHN
CYPRESS, March 11—The brief, but beautiful services of the Elks marked our last respects to the body of Robert E. Vaughn. It seemed so little for us to be able to do, just some flowers, a song and the few words that could be said. How could such little services show our appreciation of the friendship of Robert Vaughn? He was a "Man's Man," an optimist, whose counsel was wise and encouraging, whose friendship extended to all, old and young, rich and poor.
R. E. Vaughn was born in Missouri fifty-five years ago. Early in life he learned the grain and milling business, which occupation he followed until some four years ago. He purchased the Anaheim mill about 1913 which he operated for several years. It was while living in Anaheim in 1915 that his loving wife Fanny Vaughn, passed on. With her passing, began the slow downward course of Mr. Vaughn's health. He was unable to overcome his great loss.
A brother and two sisters are left to mourn his death, John Vaughn of Torrance, Mrs. Kate Battis of Los Angeles and Mrs. Mollie Rowly of Texas. His friends are all those that were fortunate enough to know him. We all sympathize with the grief stricken brother and sisters, for we realize a part of their great loss, by our loss.

on regular runs, has been arranged by the company directors, and one it is believed will give general satisfaction and at the same time conserve water. In the past, water has been in one run, starting from the head of the ditch, with a stockholder having the privilege of using the water as his turn came or passing it and using it on the second run. Each run has averaged four to six weeks. Under this plan, owners of ranches with soils that required considerable water found that their crops suffered if they had to wait six weeks. On the other hand growers with heavy soil found that crops were damaged if they had to take the water every four weeks.
To meet the demands of each group, the directors have decided to make each run in two halves, under what is termed the four and six weeks' plan.
The stockholder must take all the water he is expecting to run and is entitled to either the first half or second half of the run, and must give notice to the secretary at the time of filling application as to which half of the run he wishes.
