Thursday, March 10, 1921 AMAL. BREEN NO. 2 WILL DRILL SOON Placentia-Richfield The Amalgamated Oil Co. has Breen No. 2 rigged up and will start drilling in a few days. Mann No. 1 is now standing with the cement setting at 3100 feet. Page No. 1, drilling at 550 is in the conglomerate and is going a little slow. Potter No. 1 is in the same digging at 2250. The Clark Oil Company's Hugo Wetzell No. 1 is now redrilling at close to 3300 feet and is getting down to the original bottom rapidly and will soon be in a position to make new hole. Redrilling on iron is slow work, nevertheless, some fast work is being done on this well. The Fullerton Oil Company is now drilling at Anaheim Union No. 1 at a depth of 4050 feet. At this depth the formation is hard sand which may be expected to shade off into a rich oil sand most any time now. The Fullerton has made exceptionally good time drilling the well. Not more than a 75-barrel well was looked for at Group 4-2. This well, drilled 3225, sprung a surprise by starting off at 150 barrels. Group 4-3 is rigging up to go ahead with the rotary at 3150. Brown No. 1 is in the conglomerate at 1050. Marshburn No. 1 is drilling in sandy shale at 3100. The Osman well shows 2-400 feet in tough shale. Thompson No. 4 was not put on production as reported last week, but is still drilling at 3200. Thomas No. 1, a new well, is rigging up. Davis No. 1 at 2600 is in sandy shale. Hugo No. 2 is building rig and Hugo No. 1 is being cleaned out with the intention of drilling deeper and getting a heavier production. Some good consistent drilling is being done at Heffernan No. 2. With the hole now at 2050 feet in the hard sand the drilling is going nicely. Drilling on the Long Beach Consolidated's No. 1 is now at 2500 feet. The formation is sandy shale and the drilling is going good. At the National Security Company's well the log this week shows 1250 feet of hole in the blue shale. The 12-inch pipe was successfully landed at 1200 and now 10-inch is going in the hole. At 3170 feet an oil sand was struck in the Harrington-Dumas well that makes it look like the next big producer in the Richfield district. In order to keep the well from blowing it has been necessary to keep it full of water, and even with the hole full of the heavy fluid considerable oil is flowing over the casing head. A string of 4-1-2 carrying 170 feet of perforation is being run in now. It is the intention to drill into the oil sand 200 feet or so and bring the well in. Judging from the depth of the sand and the showing the well has made it should make 250 barrels when it goes on the beam. The oil that has escaped so far tests 23 gravity, and is clean. On account of having to wait on pipe no progress was made on the Olive Petroleum Company's well or the Orange County Petroleum Company's wild cat at Orange County Park. The Olive shows 3300 feet of hole and the Orange County Petroleum 1100. At 2850 feet the Placentia-Pacific Oil Company's No. 1 is drilling in a conglomerate so hard and tough that a foot of hole is all that a fish tail will drill. The conglomerate is the hardest struck in the field. The Placentia Oil Company has recovered a string of drill pipe that required three months and a half of fishing to get out. The twist-off came in the conglomerate at 2655. The hole is now clean and the drilling is going nicely at 2675 feet. The Petroleum Development Company has been producing high pressure gas of oil and some rather hard to plan now to carry further down, drill the well in away sand, area struck on fishing the trunk is good, and this to start drilling days. The Richfield-is still continuing work of trying to duce under the compressed To have been made is not oil enough the sand comes in and completely r rethe compressor, that under the that the air can prove successful ion now that th enough. On drilling out 705 in the Richfield Company's that the water has permission was given with the drilling and attempt deep for thirty days. Big things are Ridge Oil Co. on next week. The twist-off came in the conglomerate at 2655. The hole is now clean and the drilling is going nicely at 2675 feet. The Petroleum Development Company is having good success in regaining a 100 feet of hole lost in its B-1 and is now redrilling at 4055 feet. This well is only a few feet from the deep sand and is looking extremely good. Drilling at B-3 is at 3860 in the hard sand. B-4 is in the hard shale 1700 feet and B-5 is 3628 in tough shale. Bradford Broos No. 1 is redrilling at 3450 with the intention of going deeper and increasing the production. Bradford Broos No. 3 at 2925 is in shale and boulders. Community No. 1 is now one of the deep wells of the field, drilling at 4300 feet in sandy shale and shell. Richfield No. 2 is making fast time with 1450 feet drilled. The Petroleum-Midway boosted the production of the Richfield district close to 2000 barrels more daily by the addition of three wells. Yarnell No. 4-A proved the big well for the Petroleum Midway. Drilled to 3250 feet this well is making 1200 barrels and is flowing nicely and easily. Yarnell No.11 is a nice well also, drilled to 3450 feet it is doing close to 300 barrels, and shows signs of improving as it cleans up and gets in better shape. Success has crowned the work of recovering and getting No.1 back on production. This well has just been put on production and looks god for 500 barrels.Yarnell No.12 looks like the next producer, now drilling at 3200 at looking very good.Splendid progress is being made on Richfield-Yorba Nolara Krug No.1.At the Yorba well 2750 feet of hole has been made and Krugg No.1 is close to 500 feet.A location on which the rig is going up has been made for Krug No.2.Superintendent Thompson is making a fine showing for the Petroleum Midway, his handling of some of the most difficult wells in the field is worth of notice. From all indications and judging from what the well has already done the Richfield-Consolidated No.2 is a big well. The proposition of the proper handling of the well to insure its safe arrival is proving something At C. & B.No dittions for a big exceptionally good work.Sand at 3750.Mented at 2900 started on Ayersen.in the week.Sand and in the oil s fishing job.At the rig has been thing is in reading a new well.lost in fishing a Yorba Linda O about ready to p is predicted. Oil Co. got in to a fishing job on Wardman No. 1. Three joints of pipe and a bit are in the hole. The Standard Oil Co. is leading the deep drilling development work in the Placentia-Richfield district, with five wells over the 6500 foot mark. On the Kraemer No. 1 property No. 5 is drilling in gray sand at 4025. As yet this well has not shown a great deal of promise. K-1-12 is in the hard sand at 3200, and 1-13 is in sandy shale at 1550. Kraemer 2-10 completed at 4000 feet was put on production early in the week and looks like it will settle down to a nice well. No. 2-12 is drilling in hard sand at 2900, No. 13 in sandy shale at 800, and No. 14 is rigging up to start drilling. Work on the deepening of Collins No. 1, drilled to 4635 has been started. Cuff No. 1 at 4550 shows brown shale and some colors. Kelly No. 1 at 3450 is standing cemented, as is Loftus & O'Bryan at 4519. Drilling on the Vejar No. 1 is at 4500 feet, the formation showing a grey sand with little or no indications of oil. The Wonder Oil Co.'s Kraemer No. 1, now drilling in tough clay at 3-650, is showing considerable oil and is looking real good. Drilling is going ahead rapidly with a four-inch string and has to be carried rather carefully. That the Union Oil Co. is maintaining its heavy development program thrived the year at Richfield was evidenced today when six new wells were located. The new wells, five of them on the Chapman, are Chapman No. 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17, and Thompson-Goodwin No. 4. Yorba Linda Group No. 2 is also a new location. On the Chapman lease No. 2 is now in the brown shale at 3250. No. 3 is in the oil sand at 3300 but is held up with a fishing job. No. 4 is to be deepened from 3570, and No. 5 is being made ready for production at 4056 feet. No. 6 at 3300 is in the hard sand; and No. 7 at 4260 is in the oil sand. No. 12 is down close to 1900 and is in very hard digging. At C. & B. No. 1 just as the conditions for a big well were looking exceptionally god a fishing job halted the work. Yorba No. 1 is in grey sand at 3750. Colley No. 4 was cemented at 2900 feet. Drilling was started on Ayers-Parsons No. 2 early in the week. Stern No. 1 at 3418 and in the oil sand, is held with a fishing job. At Placentia-Orchard the rig has been moved and everything is in readiness to start drilling a new well. Three months was lost in fishing at Placentia-Orchard. Yorba Linda Group No. 1 at 2980 is about ready to produce. A nice well is predicted. A Good Record Talk about business being good. A.W. Thomas, the Electrician, says it has been fine, and in proof of same here is a list of the electrical jobs he has either completed or has under course of construction. NO DROP IN CARS; NO RAISE IN GAS There will be no reduction in care in this section for some time to come, says the Auto Club of So.Calif. "In regard to the price and supply of gasoline for the summer months, we can only say that in our opinion it is the same old question of supply and demand. We cannot anticipate a reduction in price as long as the rapid growing use of motor vehicles increases the proportionate demand for gasoline." Motorists of Calif., use $30,000,000 gallons of gasoline a month; therefore, an increase of even one cent a gallon would throw an extra financial burden.
