DAIRY MANURE $4.50 per Ton Delivered RED FOX ORCHARDS Orange, Calif. Office, South Cypress, off Chapman Phone 86 THREE NEW RIGS AT HUNTINGTON BEACH (Huntington Beach Field) There are three new rigs in the field, being those of the Eden's Syndicate, located on block 911, east side of Main street, between Thirteenth and Loma; the Bolsa Chica Oil Co., northwest corner Wesley and Nineteenth streets, and the Callowa Oil Co., on block 813, west side Main street, between Thirteenth and Edgeware, north of the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Taylor. This brings the total number of rigs to 62. The Eden's Syndicate is being financed by persons subscribing for units, being sold for $250 each. It is expected that drilling will start in ten days of two weeks. The syndicate is being promoted by R. W. Edens and W. N. Miller, the men in charge of the Orange County Drilling Co. The well drilled on the original lease taken from the Huntington Beach Co. by the Standard Oil Co., and designated as A-6, about 600 feet southwest of the Discovery well, shifted from the drilling column to that of the producing, the flow being estimated at from 600 to 1000 barrels per day. This well appears to be about the same as A-2, the second well to come in in this field, which is only about 200 feet away. A-2 gushed at the rate of 1000 barrels to start with, but dropped to about 250 per day. A-6 flows by heads, but does not produce as much gas and oil as A-4, which came in last week, and B-1, which came in a month ago. A-4 cleaned itself of water and mud very satisfactorily, and is now one of the profitable wells of So. Calif., making close to 900 barrels. This brings the total daily production of the field up to about 2,500 barrels, and from present indications it will not be many months until it will be 10 to 20 times that output. There are many who do not understand why the Standard Oil Co. continues to have all the producing wells when there are so many others being drilled. The Standard Oil Co. explored the territory, which gave them a big lead over other companies to start with. Another reason is that the Standard Oil Co. at this time appears to have most of the land under which lies the shallow oil-bearing sands of this field. Had the Union Oil Co. been fortunate to find profitable sands at the depth found in the Standard wells, except the Surf, that company would no doubt have had one or more producing wells on the Newland lease before this time, and so would the Mid-Central Oil Co. on the McFarland lease, and the Venture Oil Co. on the Russell lease. Had it not been for a long run of hard luck, the wells being drilled by the Amalgamated Oil Co., West Whittier Oil Co., Refining Co., would producing instead time. THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Plain Dealer Wants Bring Sunny Place Your Wants Before the Greatest Number of Days Whittier Oil Co. and Tercal Oil and Refining Co. would also have been producing instead of drilling at this time. Standard Oil Co.: The work of bringing in A-5, about 500 feet southwest of the Discovery well, is under way, the screen casing having been run in and the well washed out and it is expected to be flowing most any time now. This well is expected to be a light producer, as compared with A-4, A-6 or B-1. The stage is about set for a return engagement of the old head-liner, Bolsa Chica No. 1. However, Supt. J.W. Barrett and his assistants have decided that Bolso will not tool her own horn on this occasion as she did on her first appearance here, and she will be bound and gagged with some of the most powerful fittings known, and the flow probably held down to 2000 to 4000 barrels per day. The hole has been reamed and the well will probably come in sometime this week. B-2, at Thirty-eighth and Palm, has been spudded in and the derrick for B-3, an offset to the Mille-Keck Oil Co. well, has been completed. D-1 at Twenty-third and Manson, was spudded in and E-1 is about ready to go. The Jones community well, southeast of Bolsa No. 1, is drilling at 2200. A-8, southwest of Bolsa No. 1, was being cemented, at about 2000. Bolso No. 3 passed a successful water test and is being drilled in with rotary tools. Bolsa No. 2 is drilling at about 1200. The Surf well, on the low ground, east of the city limits, continues to produce water. Friday of last week the well produced about 50 barrels of oil, and began to look as though the water was disappearing, but Saturday the production dropped to about ten barrels, and to practically nothing Sunday. However, there is hope yet that the water may be pumped out and the well become a good producer. The valves are being changed today, which, it is believed, may improve the situation. Work was started on the derrick of A-9 Thursday morning. Well No. 1 on the Torrance lease, near the Bolsa Chica club house, is being redrilled, and is about 2400 feet. LIVE STOCK MILES FOR RENT—Have on hand DEMONSTRATIONS IN MUSIC FOR EBELL BREA, March 8.—Special. The regular Ebell club met Friday afternoon at the club rooms in Fullerton. It was well attended. Mrs. Bush gave several demonstrations in music. She is very clever. She told us about Indians, negroes and Kentucky mountainers, the way-back wooders, as she expressed it. She played pieces to show the difference in this day and time and in the time of the civil war. A little play was put on by the dramatic section, which was sure rich. One of our Brea ladies was dressed like an Irish indy and she made a swell one. The little play made quite a hit. Several from Brea attended, including Mrs. Schweitzer, Mrs. Burquist, Mrs. Gurley, Mrs. C. C. Jarvis, Mrs. J. E. Reynolds, Mrs. Wollin, of Olinda; Mrs. Chambers, of the West Coast. The C.E. met as usual at 6:30 Sunday evening. The young men led the meeting. It was certainly fine, and the young people deserve great credit. Services at 7:20 as usual at the Brea Christian church. Bro. Clifford Hensen will make a short talk before the church services, after which Rev. Spicer will conduct the services. Mrs. Frank Schweitzer is reported as being on the sick list for the last few days. Miss Benlah Danielly is the proud possessor of a beautiful Wellington piano. The pl nsocial held at the Christian church at Brea last Friday night was a great success. Prizes were given to those who wore the largest variety of pins of various kinds. The Honor Knights worked Saturday on their log cabin in the rear of the Christian church. They are very enthusiastic over it. They took a lunch and enjoyed themselves at the noon hour.
