MRS TIMME HOSTESS
Mrs. Herbert Timme was hostess on Friday afternoon to a number of children and their mothers, the occasion being the birthday anniversary of her children, Helen Lucile and Richard Carl. Miss Helen Lucille in two years old and her brother is one.
The hours of entertainment were from three to five. The Timme home had been prettily decorated in a color scheme of pink and white and white lilies were the flowers used.
The afternoon was spent in visiting among the mothers, and games for the children who were old enough to play. The honorees of the occasion received a number of birthday gifts.
Mrs. Timme served ice cream and cake for refreshments. There were two splendid birthday cakes. The guests were all seated at one long table.
Those who enjoyed the affair were: Mrs. L. C. Flippen and children, Travis and Virginia; Mrs. M. Flippen and children, Thomas, Doris and Rosemary; Mrs. Orio Hobbs and children, Vernalee, Charles and William; Mrs. Henry Luchau and children, Josephine and Howard; Mrs. Donald Smiley and son, Donald Edwin; Mrs. Walter Timme and son, Donald Walter; Mrs. Carl Timme, grandmother of the birthday babies; Mrs. M. J. Flippen, a great aunt, and Mrs. Fred Braun, an especial friend.
An interesting fact concerning the little guests is that the children present were all cousins.
CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY
Mrs. A. C. Holmes, east of Annelheim, gave a great deal of pleasure to a number of little folks Wednesday afternoon when she entertained in honor of her nephew, Melvin Crijes. The occasion was Master Melvin's fifth birthday anniversary and the little guests spent the hours from three until five in merry games and with other amusements.
A color scheme of pink and white was carried out in the decorations which were all along Easter lines. Dainty refreshments of ice cream,

punch and cake were served, the cake being a splendid birthday cake with five candles for the honoree.
The guests present were: Arvilla Abbott, Gerard Abbot, Helen Greeley, Louis Evelyn and Marguerite Henthorne, Newell and Dudley Christensen, Overton Sperling and Hilliard Holmes.
LIVE WIRE CLUB MEETS
Mr. and Mr. Wm. Ulland were host and hostess on Friday evening at their home in Fullerton to the members of "The Live Wire" club.
The affair was in the nature of a "hayseed" party and varied and grotesque were the costumes in which the members game arrayed.
There were about thirty present to enjoy the evening. The first part of the evening was devoted to a business meeting after which games and other jollifications were indulged in. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served at the close of the games.

AN APPEAL FOR MISSIONS
A missionary dramatization entitled "A Far Child's Cry" is to be presented at the Sunday school hour, 9:30, tomorrow at the Methodist White Temple by members of the City Briefs.

R. E. Campbell has joined the sales force of Harry D. Riley, Studebaker distributor.
Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Grimm and Mr., and Mrs. F. Bentgen will spend Sunday at Catalina Island.
Mr. and Mrs. George W. Hamler and Mrs. Basquin went to Los Angeles today to spend the week-end.
Robert and Herbert Johnson, who have been quite ill, are getting better at their home, 505 E. Adele-st.

If they fail to find a suitable location in the north they may return here all they are very favorably impressed with Anaheim.
Mr. and Mrs.J.McDuell.of Orange chalet,near Brookhurst-rd.were agreeably surprised yesterday afternoon when Mr.Mr.David McCahill.of Pittsburg,Pa.,stopped to pay them a visit while motoring from San Diego to Los Angeleswhere they will be guests in the home of Mr.McCahill's brother.J.A.McCahill,misstreet railway magnate of Pittsburghand is thoroughly enjoying this trip to sunny California.They also thoroughly enjoyed,the fine fruits from the McDuell grove.

A missionary dramatization entitled "A Far Child's Cry" is to be presented at the Sunday school hour, 9:30, tomorrow at the Methodist White Temple by members of the three departments, junior, adults and Young People's.
The cast will be made up of four young ladies, a young man and a baby. Mrs. E. A. Collins, missionary superintendent, is in charge and has been coaching the play.
S. S. DEPT. OFFICERS MEET
A meeting of the chairmen and officers of the Young People's Department of the Methodist White Temple Sunday school was held last evening at the home of Cortex Hookins. S. Los Angeles-st. There were about 11 present, and the evening was devoted to a business session. Following the meeting refreshments were served.

D. H. Van Meter, of Phoenix, Ark., where he was associated with the Ford agency, has accepted a position as salesman with the George Dunton Ford and Fordson agency.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goodrich will be members of a party which will spend Sunday at Laguna Beach. Mr. and Mrs. F. Davis will also be in the party and a number from Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas Wheaton of Sunbury, Ohio, who are spending the winter in Los Angeles, were guests Friday and Saturday morning. At the home of their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Sidnmur.
Mrs. Harplet Perry, Mrs. Joe Waterberry and daughter, Hakele, will come today from Monrovia and will be guests over Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hess, 919 W. Center-st. Mr. Waterberry and son Leonard, will come tomorrow and accompany them home.
Mr. and Mrs. G. Spingath, of S.Clementine-st, returned Thursday from a week's visit with relatives and friends at Wasco, Lodi, and Sacramento. They were accompanied on the trip by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D. Marshall, and family.
The Western Union downtown office is fixed up nicely now with plenty of office furniture and everything, A.E.Loomis stated today. He added that they were able to handle money orders of any denomination and anywhere.
Mr. and Mrs.Wilbur D.Smith and little daughter Wilburdlen, of Brookton, Ind., who are spending the winter in Los Angeles and at other points in southern California, are guests in the home of Mrs.Smith's aunt,Mrs.A.Nagel,andfamily.Mr.andMrs.
