News of Fullerton Sharpen's Judges Razor To Remain Out of Jail You have heard of a man's life hanging by a hair, but did you ever hear of a man's fate hanging on a razor blade? Well, that is just what happened in Judge French's court this morning. Whether D. H. Lucrec, of Los Angeles, should or should not go to jail depended upon his ability to sharpen the judge's razor. He had been picked up yesterday by a member of the Fullerton police department when he ran on sight without Bessica F. Raiche, M. D. TRIP The San Bernardino high school, the Sherman Indians and other baseball teams in So Calif., will have an opportunity this spring to cross bats with the local baseball team if plans now being made by Coach "Shorty" Smith do not fall thru. The trip will be made during the spring at "Earlier" vacation, which will extend from April 2 to 11. The league season begins March 15 when Huntington Beach plays at Fullerton. Analecim plays at Fullerton March 25. Fullerton plays at Orange April 15. The league pennant will be played for by the two teams which stand highest at the end of the league season. It will be a case of two out of three, the game already played by the two teams to count as one of the three games. ENTERTAIN H. S. FACULTY. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Marsden, entertained members of the high school faculty with a "Destiny" party Monday night. This was very different from the usual run of parties. The invitations, written by Mrs. Marsden were in the form of old English poems. At seven o'clock about ten machines loaded with teachers, dressed in different costumes and masked, set out from the high school with Mr. Marsden's cay in the lead, carrying red lights. The machines wound in and out among the various streets of Fullerton and vicinity, and finally ended up in the hills. A very enjoyable evening was spent and toward the end of the party, the guests were presented with "gold bricks." These bricks contained daily refreshments in the form of ice cream and cake. EVANGELIST WILL SPEAK. Miss Millie Lawhead, an evangelist in the Friends' church, now holding meetings at Yorba Linda, has been seared as the morning speaker for the all-day meeting to be held at the Methodist church in Fullerton. Friday she will have her pianist and possibly her solist. The meetings being held under the leadership of the Rev. Joseph H. Smith continue in Dierest. The attendance has been encouraging. All are invited to profit by these services without regard to church or creed. Services every afternoon at 7:30 except Saturday night. M. E. CHOIR ENTERTAINED. The choir of the First Methodist church of Fullerton was entertained Saturday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lewis, the occasion being one of unusual pleasure. BET $25 IT WASN'T ALIVE. Jess Hardy, Fullerton druggist, has been having some amusing experiences as the result of a window act he recently put on entitled "Is It Alive?" An actor, made up as an automaton, appeared in the window and there were many speculations as to whether or not it was a real man. It was a finished piece of acting. One man wanted to bet $25 it was not a man and others criticized it for not being life-like enough. It was a man who makes a business of acting such parts and he has trained himself to go two hours without winking his eyes. INCREASE SHIPMENTS. The Placeenta Orange Growers' Assn., which has been shipping from one to two cars a day over the Pacific Electric, has made arrangement to ship from three to four cars a day as long as the present good weather lasts. H. W. Warburton, Fullerton agent of the railway, stated this morning. The oranges now being shipped are navels and of good size and quality, it was stated. MEMBERSHIP CONTEST The membership contest between the Greeks and the Romans of the Houser Bible class of the First Christian church of Fullerton is progressing. The contest will last about five weeks. The losing team will be forced to set up a banquet for the winners or give them a theatre party. W. A. Moore is leader of the Greeks and G. W. Finch is leader of the Romans. "BETTER BABIES" LECTURE. "Better Babies" will be the subject of a lecture which will be delivered at the grammar school auditorium Friday, Feb. 25, at 2:30, and again at 8:30 Sata K. Wise, M. I., of San Francisco. CHICAGO BOYS GO TO JAIL. Frank Becker and J.W. Palton, boys from Chicago, seeing the country via the side-door mailman, were arrested near the Santa Fe station in Fullerton yesterday afternoon and halted before Judge French on the charge of trespassing. The judge declared their sightseeing tour would not be complete without a 20 days' vacation at the Orange-co jail, and gave each of them this sentence. They were picked up by Joe Marillo, of the Fullerton police force, and Fred Volmer, of Los Angeles. CONVERSIES WITH LOWDEN. J. Charles Thamer attended the Iowa picnic in Los Angeles Tuesday and says it was impossible to find a place to park within four blocks of Lincoln park. Mr. Thamer had a short talk with Governor Lowden, whom he knew in Chicago in "the good old days." He congratulated Mr. Lowden on side-stepping the cabinet and taking a vacation. The governor replied that he is feeling for from well and a cabinet job in the new administration would probably be too strenuous for him. Mr. and Mrs. George Esmay also attended. PLAN BUSINESS BUILDING. Several applicants for office and retail space for a proposed new block on E Amerige-st. Fullerton were in evidence yesterday. DEFEAT SHERMANN INDIANS The Fullerton High School girls' team defeated the Sherman Indians in a return basketball game yesterday afternoon by a score of 22 to 9.
