STANDARD BRINGS IN 3 WELLS AT BEACH
Huntington Beach Field.
The Standard will increase its Huntington Beach production with three wells this week. At Huntington A-4 preparations are being completed to bring in what looks like one of the biggest wells in the field. This well was drilled to 3120 feet. At Huntington A-4 the Standard will bring in this well at 2500 feet, and indications are pointing to something good. Surf No. 1 is balling and getting ready to put on the beam at about 4000 feet. Indications are good for a fair producer. Bolsa No. 1 was redrilled and put on production again at 2550, but is not making much of a showing.
The Union Oil Co.'s Newland No. 1 has passed the 4400 mark and is not showing any oil. At this depth the formation being drilled thru is a nice sand, but the sand contains no oil whatever. It begins to look as though the Newland well is off the producing belt. At Copeland No. 1 the Union has made 2528 feet of hole in the sandy sands with no appreciable showing.
Getting a nice showing of oil at 1850 feet the Huntington-Central sprung something of a surprise in getting the showing at such a comparative shallow depth. The well has been cemented at 1900 and is now standing. Rigging up work is well under way on No. 2.
Irving J. Auger, for five years deputy state oil and gas supervisor, heads a new concern that will operate extensively at Huntington Beach. Mr. Auger is of the opinion that the best part of the field lies along the ocean front and has secured 165 acres of tideland property, on which wells will be drilled. The new concern headed by Auger is known as the Bolsa Chica Oil Co. and is backed by a number of the leading business men of Los Angeles.
Among the new companies that have put lumber on the ground during the past week the writer noticed the following: The Fidelity Oil Corporation, the Guaranty Oil Co., the Globe Petro-

The companies that have rigged up during the last week and are about ready to start drilling are Blue Shale Oil & Mining Assn. Hurst Oil Co., the Huntington Central No. 2, National Exploration Co., Peerless Oil & Refining Co., Petroleum Co., and Sun Oil Co.
Drilling at 3100 feet in sandy shale the Amalgamated's Fowler No. 1 is beginning to cause comment as it is getting deep and now showing any oil in a locality where it is expected at 2500 at the most.
The Mid-Central and Venture No. 1 are still standing cemented at 4100 and 3300 feet respectively. Interest is somewhat centered in the outcrops of the Mid-Central, being a deep well on the north side of the field.
Miley & Keck will make an effort to locate the water that so suddenly and unexpectedly broke into their No. 1 and spotted what looked like a 1000 barrel producer. It is understood that the shutting off of the water will practically mean the redrilling of the well. Miley & Keck have the lumber on the ground for No. 2 and will start at once.
Litigation due to the promoters of the Motor Oil & Refining Co., not paying their bills has caused the revocation of the state's permit for the company and the retirement of the Motor Oil Co. as a developing concern from the field.
Republic Petroleum failed to get a shut off and was re-cemented at 2900.
Amalgamated No. 1
250-Barrel Well
Rieheld-Plaentin.
The Amalgamated Oil Co.'s Breen No. 1 is a 230 barrel well. Completed at 2525 feet the well is flowing and has settled down to the above production. The oil is 20 gravity and is coming free from sand and water. Encouraged by this success, the Amalgamated is rigging up on Breen No. 2. Mann No. 1 is standing with the cement setting at 2100, it being necessary to receiment. Potter No. 2 continues drilling in the conglomerate at 1965. Page No. 1 is 225 feet in shale and boulders.
The water sand struck in the Bixby syndicate well at 3200 still continues at 3300 unchanged, and does not give Beach Consolidated is drill shale at 2425.
The Olive Petroleum Co. make hole at its wild cat land and is now at 3225 in sand formation is carrying ene showing of oil and gas to couraging.
Drilling on the Placewell is making splendid pits at 2775 the formation is mixed with conglomerate gas and oil colors in profuse.
The Petroleum Develop deep wells on the Bradford are all looking good. No. in the oil sand at 4110 oil and gas in quantity. No. 5 is at 3400 in saidy a Ford Bros. No. 3 is in hat Community No. 1 is 2950 redrilling at 50 feet Richfield No. 2 is going down two weeks.
The Petroleum Midway down at Steiner No. 1 and ready to bring the well ing at 3480 the showing Isaac No. 1 at 2900 also should make a nice wedge A is down 3225 and is in oil sand. Yarnell No. The oil sand, drilling at 321 Carter well is standing waiting on developments No. I is going down in rec depth now being 2200 feet.
One of the nicest products smaller companies at Richfield-Consolidated's Flowing at an average rate dels daily. The lost tubule is about all faded out and will be ready to deepen in The rig for No. 3 is up.
The air compressor has ed for the pumping of the Torba and a test to get it the well will do be week. Already considered been forced out of the hot management feel confident method of pumping the w some production.
On account of the go struck by the Harrington Co.it is understood that United will open up its ahead with the drilling m days.
Vern Dumas is proving very successful operator in the drilling record being Ridge well at Placentia.
The new concern headed by Auger is known as the Bolas Chica Oil Co. and is backed by a number of the leading business men of Los Angeles.

THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA
On account of the good showing struck by the Harrington-Dumas Oil Co. it is understood that the Richfield-United will open up its well and go ahead with the drilling now in a few days.
Vern Dumas is proving himself a very successful operator as shown by the drilling record being made on the Ridge well at Placentia. The drill is now cutting in clay and boulders at 2750 and is going very nicely. The sand should be reached inside of 200 feet.
Drilling on the Wardman lease by Selby-Iloot-Hogue Oil Co. is now at 3225 in conglomerate. On the Dominiqua property No. 1 is drilling on iron and going a little slow at 2895.
The Standard Oil Co. is about to quit drilling on Kraemer No. 2-11 and bring the well in at a depth of 4300 feet. The well has shown more than 100 feet of good oil sand and indication points to another 2000 barrel well. 2-9 is standing cemented at 3550 and 2-10 at 3800. K. 2-12 is drilling at 2300 and 2-13 is building rig; also Kraemer 2-14.
Collins No. 2, one of the deepest wells drilled by the Standard at Richfield, turned out a disappointment. Drilled to 4635 feet and exhibiting for some little time good showings it is now on the pump doing only about 100 harrels. Cuff No. 1 is standing cemented at 4360. Loftus & O'Bryan No. 1 is also standing with the cement setting at 4300. Velar No. 1 is still drilling and at the latest reported depth of 4425 is not showing any oil.
The Wonder Oil Co. has drilled out the cement at Kraemer No. 1 and is getting ready to make a test on water at 3297. Previous to the cementing the well showed up very good and should not be far off production right now.
Drilling oil wells is not proving any easy task for any of the operators in the Richfield district. The Union leading for the number of wells drilling has an opportunity to show others some of the obstacles to be contended with. At Chapman No. 10 a twist off has left some pipe and a bit in the hole to fish out. Failure to get circulation at T. & G. No. 2 is calling for a cleaning out job at 50 feet off bottom. Yorba No. 1 drilled to 3735 is back drilling at 3300. The tools were successfully drilled out of the 4675 foot Shepard well, and drilling is going ahead again. Coyle No. 1 drilled to 3050 is held up with a fishing job Stern No. 1, just as it entered the oil sands and looking good at $420, met with a fishing job that may tie the well up for a few days. Shanklin No. 1 at $150 is held up fishing for some drill pipe. At Placentia-Orchard about five months were consumed in a fishing job that did not accomplish anything and now preparations are being made to skid the rig and start a new well. Chapman No. 1, the famed gusher, still averages its 700 barrels daily.
WANTED—Men to cut wood. Eaton's ranch. East end Ball road.

able tools to resume drilling on the Walters No. 1 at 3000 feet. Walters No. 2 is rigging up for the drill. Estrada No. 1 (Montebello Crude) is drilling at 2550.
The Pan-American Petroleum Co.'s Pasadena No. 2 is still being held up with a fishing job at 3300 feet. The tools are stuck in the hole.
One of the nicest little walls in the Montebello field for the month was brought in by the Petroleum Midway at P. & B. No. 1 This well drilled to 2550 is making 350 barrels of oil and flowing thru 6-inch casing. Baldwin No. is also a nice well, doing 150 barrels of 27 gravity oil. Germain I-B drilled to something over 3700 feet being redrilled.
Mechanical troubles caused the Standard to abandon Baldwin No. 57 and start a new well. No. 57-A.In ten days Walter Black moved the rig and drilled 850 ft of hole at the new location.Temple No.13 now drilling at 2400 is in the oil sand, showing up strong.
At 2900 feet the St Helen's Petroleum Well Nutt No.1 struck a deep oil sand that makes the well look very promising.Pinna-Briana No.3 at 3375 is showing lots of oil and gas and has all the indications of being capable of duplicating the famous P. & B.No.1 of the St Helen's.Prepartitions are about complete for the redrilling of Monterey No.5 deeper. The Western Pacific Oil Co.is rigging up and completing the building of the rig at No.2.No.2 will be a deep sand test well that will be drilled with the rotary.No.1 continues to produce at about 50 and 60 barrels daily. Some water is coming with the production."
The Union Oil Co.is noot slowling down its development work at Montebello by any means. This week witnessed the location of a new well La Merced No.24.No.9 is held up with a fishing job at 2700.No.11 is redrilling at 2300.No.16 at 2450 is making a water test.No.21 is drilling out cement and testing water at 2800 feet.No.22 is drilling at 2300 and No.23 has just been cemented at 2300 feet.
The Whiteside Oil Co.is showing some signs of renewed activity and about to resume work on No.1 with the intention of making something out

ARCADIA FISHING
JOB IS DIFFICULT
Montebelle Field.
The fishing job encountered by the Arcadia Oil Co. at 2765 is proving a rather difficult matter and has extended now into the third week. About 300 feet more of drill pipe is in the hole.
The Columbia Oil Producing Co. has completed rigging up work on Adobe No. 5 and starts drilling early in the week. Scott No. 2 is building rig.
The General Petroleum has about recovered at Cruz No. 3 and is now drilling at 3080 feet and in 60 feet more will be drilling new hole.
The La Merced Oil Co. has decided to let Calkins No. 1 stand idle until Manly No. 1 is completed and put on production.
Calkins No. 1 has been producing hot salt water for a week and seemingly the water could not be exhausted by pumping. Manly No. 1 is standing cemented at 2000 feet but will be drilled cut and tested for a shut off in a few days.
The McGinley Oil Co. is making a showing both in the redrilling and deepening of old producers and the drilling of new wells. No. 1, an old time producer, is now at 3150 deepening. No. 5, also an old producer, is redrilling at 3000 feet. The advent of the Standard Oil Co.'s Temple No. 12, doing 1200 barrels, cut down the production of McGinley No. 1 from 1000 to 200 barrels. No. 10 is side-tracking and drilling with the rotary at 2175. No. 11 is standing cemented at 2350, and No. 12 is standing with the cement setting at 2200 feet.
The Keeler Oil Co. is rigging up ca-
