BREA, Feb. 15—Special—The Brea grammar school entertained with a valentine party Monday afternoon. Each room furnished cakes, etc.
The P.-T. A. had an all-day open meeting at the Bren school house yesterday.
Brea Local, No. 27, in spite of bad weather, was well attended by its members as well as non-unionists. The Label League was well represented, Mr. C. M. Freider also made a very fine talk. He showed how the large factories hoisted flags when they were looking for the inspector and how quickly they came down when the inspector left. When he reported every thing K., then the children were set to work again—or babies, as he put it.
There was an excellent repast of coffee, salads, olives, pickles, etc. The music was from Santa Ana. Old and young were dancing still, when most or the crowd dispersed. They were enjoying themselves hugely. A large flat cake was auctioned off for the L. U. L. L. for $6.00 to Charles Kinser. He will have to call in all his neighbors and friends to help him eat. Brea will long remember the occasion.
Mr. George Schupert's brother, Mr. Edward Schupert, of Iowa City, Iowa, who has been visiting here for two months, left for home Sunday. He was uncleasy about the ducks, all he thinks the ice is over and hunting ducks is great sport. His friends hope he gets many birds.
Mrs. R. Smith is very much improved. She was very sick after her son's accident. Mr. Smith's sister, Mrs. Edna Miller, will spend several days in their home and give Mrs. Smith a chance to recuperate.
Mr. J. A. Thompson and wife, Mr. L. S. Hines and mother! Mr. Walter Simons, wife and daughter, Blanch, went Long Beach visitors Sunday. They had a delightful trip.
Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Campbell, from Fortuna, Calif., who are stopping in Los Angeles this winter, were visitors.

CAR OF COAL Just Received
at the Brea co-operative store Saturday. Mr. Walter Sinamos and wife are old time friends. A very happy reunion took place. Mr. Campbell and wife are on their way to San Diego to inspect the store. They are heavy holders in the co-operative movement. They will have a new store in Humboldt-co soon. They will return in the near future and Mr. Sinamos hopes to see more of them.
Miss Francis Swope underwent an operation last Sunday morning at the Pullerton hospital. She is reported as resting as well as could be expected. When she grows a little stronger she will have another. Her many friends are praying for her speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Smith visited Mrs. B. H. Smith, Mr. Smith's mother, last Sunday at the Standard Murphy camp.

G. & L. LEASE, Feb. 15—Special—Mr. and Mrs. Ira Stone and family entertained a houseful of company at their home on this case. All enjoyed themselves when at the noon hour the hostess and one gorgeous dinner, with all the trimmings. Those who were fortunate enough to be guests this big day were: Mr. Stone's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Stone, and brother, Mr. Roy Stone, and his sweetheart, Miss Maud Weaver, all of Perris, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest O. Earl and little son, Carl Frederick, formerly of Hanning, but now residents of Pullerton.
Mr. Homer Coffey is building a garage on the rear of his lot and expects to build a large room on one end for housekeeping.
Mr. and Mrs. Clindgoss are driving a new Oakland six for a change.
Mrs. Harley Coffey is rejoicing over her new Eden electric washer that was presented to her by her husband for a birthday present.
Mrs. Fladding's sister-in-law who has been spending a few days with her has returned to aer home.
Mr. and Mrs. Richards and two children, Billie and Francis, attended the Orpheum in Los Angeles Sunday.
Little Mabel Selens is recovering from her recent operation.

YORBA LINDA, Feb. 15.—Special—Miss Fern Geissinger entertained her friend, Misa, Lena McKee, of Palms, from Friday until Sunday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Walker, Sr., motored to Pasadena Sunday for the day.
The Missae Cole spent the week-end at their home in Pasadena.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Walker entertained a number of friends at cards on Saturday evening. Decorations were in valentine colors of red and white, and delicious refreshments of ice cream, cake and coffee were served by the hostess at a late hour.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Vernon, of Santa Barbara, arrived on Saturday evening for a few days' visit with Mr. and Mrs. M. Vernon.
Mr. Stanley Charicbolis has gone to Taft to work for the General Petroleum there. Vernon Geissinger went with him and is at present in San Francisco.

SANTA ANA SEEKING $250,000 HOSPITAL
Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for an endowed hospital in Santa Ana is the goal of ambitious worker who will start March 1 on a big drive for that amount.
J. C. Metzgar, secretary of the Santa Ana C. of., is drive chairman.
A meeting of the membership committee and district chairmen who have accepted appointments was held this afternoon.
The territory to be canvassed is all that section cast and south of the Santa Ana river and west of the river south of a line that would be formed were Chapman street, Orange, extended west to the county line.
There is no time limit on the drive and it will continue until every district is completely canvassed.
