20 NEW WELLS STARTED
Oil field operations reported the week ending Feb. 5, show 20 new wells started, compared with 22 the previous week; total new wells this year is 146 as compared with 104 the same date last year.
Tests for water shut off 35, compared with 22 the previous week; yearly total to date 168, total to same date last year 150.
Deepening or redrilling jobs 9, compared with 18 the preceding week; total to date this year 96, total to same date last year 103.
Wells abandoned 7, compared with 2 the preceding week; total to date this year 27, total to same date last year 34.

YORBA LINDA, Feb. 11.—Special. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Calkins and their house guests who are visiting here from the east, spent the week-end at Riverside and Alhambra.
Mrs. Francisco, who is the wife of Mr. Francisco, the Italian pruner, and who have resided here some time, became violently insane on Wednesday and will have to be confined in the future. Her actions have been peculiar since the death of a small son two years ago, but she was never violent until Wednesday, when she broke the windows and glass doors in a neighbors house and threw glass at the children. Officials think she may get better if she undergoes treatment at the county farm, but at any rate it is thought advisable to take her away, and Mr. Francisco has the sympathy of the community in his trouble.
Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Bridge entertained delightfully with a dancing party at their home on Tuesday evening. Light refreshments were served to the following invited guests: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Garrett, Myrtia Scott, Hale Milfred and Marie foot, Mr. and Mrs. A. Thelrington, Mr. and M. Bosworth, Miss Eva Kran, Willard Kenan and Leon Singleton.

GARDEN GROVE, Feb. 11.—The Garden Grove Walnut Growers association distributed another ten percent of the amount of walnuts shipped, among the growers here last week.

Mrs. Joe Robinson spent Tuesday evening at her home here, but returned to the Huntington Park hospital on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Robinson has been staying with her daughter, Irma, for the past three weeks. Mrs. Robinson states that Irma is improving very slowly, but is now able to eat a little which will help her gain strength. Irma has to be fed by others, not being able to use her hands. Mr. Arch Osborne has a sore arm and is carrying it in a sling.
Mr. McGee has moved the cottage recently purchased from Oscar West, to his lot on Whittaker-ave, and will improve it for a residence.
A sprinkling system is being installed in the lawn at the library. Miss Lubkeman has had ferns, bridal wreath and wisteria planted around the library.
Mrs. D. D. Lusier, of Richfield, spent Wednesday with Mrs. P. H. Lusier, Mrs. E. O. Hiscroft and daughter Lorna Marie, were also guests during the day.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sowles left Saturday night for their home at Kalamazoo, Michigan, after a two months' visit with Mr. and Mrs. George Rolfe. Mrs. Sowles is a sister to Mr. Rolfe.
Mr. Edmund Chaffee arrived here Saturday from Valpariso, Indiana, for a visit with Mrs. Susan Chaffee and other relatives located here.
Mrs. S. J. Carroll left Thursday for her home in Kansas City, Missouri after spending nearly one and one-half years with her mother, Mrs. Aronhalt, and sisters, Miss Maud Aronhalt and Mrs. Edward Schweitzer.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. DeVaul are expected home Wednesday after a week's visit with their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ira Devault, at Corona, who will accompany them home for a short visit here.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hayes and family expect to move into their new house this week, which is now being completed.

PLACENTIA, Feb. 11—C. L. Coulson, proprietors of one of the biggest hatcheries in the state, was transacting business in Placentia Wednesday. He says he has 14,000 eggs incubating and chickens scattered all over his place.
Mrs. B. Penn has figured in two transactions during the past week, selling one of her rooming houses—over the Rexall drug store—to Mrs. Minnie Fronk, and buying the Crepín property at Main and Center. She expects to build a dwelling on this property.

At a regular meeting of the Business Men's Assn, held Tuesday evening, Rev. H. P. Gage was elected president; Dan A. New, vice-president, and E. B. Pinseeth, secretary and treasurer. The incorporation question was considered at some length and Itland Thompson was authorized to procure a number of maps, showing the extent of territory which it is proposed to include in the incorporation.
