The card games were played at

spending the winter, and who will leave on Monday for their home in Prescott, Wash.
The Fender home will be tastefully decorated with Valentines and other symbols of the valentine season. Mrs. Fender will serve a four-course dinner at 12 o'clock and will be assisted in the serving by Miss Martha Stolte.
The after dinner hours will be spent in visiting and in other pleasing diversions.
The guest list will include L. H. Hailey and family of Riverside, Frank Fender and family of San Diego, J. B. Fender and family of Long Beach, and the H. F. Fender family of Los Angeles.
VALENTINE PARTY FOR PUPILS
Miss Dorothy Garrison entertained last evening with a valentine party for her class of piano pupils. Red hearts and other decorations suggestive of the valentine season were used. Games were played and a most delightful time was spent by the children.
The three prizes, which Miss Garrison gives every four months, for the pupils making the best grades, were won this time by Vivian Franz, Eva Berry and Constance Randall. These three furnished the music for the evening, giving some very delightful numbers.
Refreshments were served later in the evening. There were about 15 present.

The West Orangethorpe Five Hundred Club was delightfully entertained on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. Spencer. The afternoon was very pleasant spent about the card tables, while at the close of the games the hostess served a two course luncheon.
The high score was won by Mrs. R. I. Lovering, while Mrs. E. Strain was awarded the consolation. For decorations the hostess used hyacinths and ferns. The score cards were clever valentine hearts.

There will be a big double bill at the New Fairland theatre tonight including four acts of vaudeville from the best circuits and Viola Dana in "Cinderella's Twin." In this Miss Dana is just the spirit of girl you would like for a sister, or better still, for a sweetheart. Tomorrow afternoon and night Tom Moore will be seen in "Hold Your Horsees."
"Sex," starring Louise Glaum, will be seen tonight and tomorrow night at the New Grand Theatre.
It is a great play giving an insight into the heart of a woman who destined to pay for despoiling the happiness of others.
PUBERCULAR CLINIC
HELD AT S.A.FEB.21
A clinic for the physicians of Orange-co is to be conducted in Santa Ana Feb. 21 by the California Tuberculosis Assn., it was announced today.
The course will be a post graduate course in chest diagnosis.
A moving picture film on diagnosis prepared by the surgeon general of the U.S. army, will be shown at 4:30 o'clock at the West End theatre.
In the evening, starting at 8 o'clock, the physicians will be divided into groups of six, and to them points in diagnosis will be shown on living models.
These groups will meet at the offices of Dr. R. A. Cushman and Dr. G.M.Traile in the Spurgeon-bldg.

The Woman's Missionary society of the Presbyterian church held a social meeting yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. M. Wickett, E. Broadway. There were about 40 ladies present, and a very pleasant and profitable afternoon was enjoyed by all.
Mrs. Recres pleased her hearers with a vocal solo, and Mrs. A. A. Mills read a very interesting story. This was followed by a game, after which the hostesses, Mesdames H. A. Johnston, W. M. Wickett, F. K. Day, W. T. Wallop and F. N. Gibbs served dainty sandwiches, cake and tea.
This meeting was also the annual mite box opening, and the amount derived from them was about $55.

The Chat 'N Seau Club met last evening at the home of Mrs. R. C. Boyd, S. Philadelphia-st. The evening was pleasantly passed in visiting and needlework. At ten o'clock the hostess served a two-course luncheon.
The members present were Misses Viola Elliott, Vera O'Rourke, Evelyn Degryse, Lillian Degryse, Frances Schumacher, Mesdames J. Lloyd Moore, Welcome M. Ward, Norbert Anderson, E. Voss Herrington and the hostess. For refreshments the ladies were joined by J. Lloyd Moore, Fred Scott, Welcome M. Ward, E. Voss Herrington, Mr. Boyd and James Boyd.

Mrs. L. E. Garretson was hostess on Thursday evening at an informal six o'clock dinner at her home on Olive-bldd. The guest of honor on this occasion was Mr. Garretson who was celebrating his birthday anniversary.
Mrs.' Garretson served a delightful two-course dinner, a color scheme of brown and white being carried out. Of course, there was a birthday cake though Mr. Garretson had asked that the "torch light procession" of candles be omitted.
The after dinner hours were spent in visiting.
The out-of-town guests who enjoyed the affair were Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Carter of Yorba Linda and Mr. R. W. Hull of Orange.

LADIES' AID SOCIETIES MEET
The ladies' societies of the Methodist White Temple held the regular February meeting in the church yesterday, beginning at 10 a.m., when the Ladies' Aid met.
At noon the ladies enjoyed lunch together and in the afternoon the Woman's Home Missionary society and the Wouan's Foreign Missionary society met.
There was a good attendance of members and friends and a very enjoyable day was spent. There were several items of business brot up before the Ladies' Aid.
POSTPONE EBELL MEETING
The regular executive board meeting of the Arnheim Ebell club, which was to have been held Monday, Feb. 14, has been postponed to Thursday, Feb. 17, when the members will meet at the home of Mrs. F. A. Backs, Sr., on Claudina-st at two o'clock p.m. All members are urged to be present.
SPANISH CLASS ENJOYS EVE.
The Spanish Class of the high school gave a party last evening in the art rooms at the school. There was a short program, consisting of a Spanish play, and the rest of the evening was given over to a social time. There were a number present and a very pleasant evening spent.

HOUSEWIVES JOYOUS AS EGGS TAKE DROP
"Ham and" will once more come into its own.
That is, if the price of ham comes down. Eggs, the necessary adjunct to the famous breakfast delicacy, have hit a new low level.
This cheerful news to the nation's housewives enmanated today from the Dairy and Produce Exchange markets in all parts of the country.
Over production early in the season is said to be responsible for the sudden drop, which occurred earlier this year than usual.
The belief here today was that prices would remain low, for some time, as the situation created by demands for incubation and storage does not start before April.
Eggs for storage are usually taken from April production, as are also many of those used for hatching.
Local grocers have been taking a loss on eggs for the past few days, since the prices started to drop, buy-

DR. GEISSINGER WILL TEACH CHILD STUDY
A class in child study and religious education has been organized with 25 enrolled to start. The class will meet in the church parlor Monday nights from 7 to 8 and will be led by the pastor, Dr. J. A. Geissinger. The work will be of a peculiar character and will be given credit for by the S. S. board of the denomination. The class will be open for two weeks more for those who may yet wish to enroll. After that, the membership will be closed.
