OIL SAND PASSED AT BREEN NO. 1
Placentia-Richfield
At Breen No. 1, where a fine showing of oil sand was discovered at 2100 feet and continued to 3170, the sand disappeared. The drilling is going ahead in the hope of finding another sand. Mann No. 1 at 3100 feet is beginning to show some colors. Page No. 1 is rigging up and will start drilling in a few days. On the Anaheim Union lease, rea No. 5 got its first showing of oil at 3384 in the brown shale. This is the only work the Amalgamated is doing in the rea field.
Drilling at 2375 feet the Fullerion Oil Co. is now making new hole at Anaheim Union No. 1. The formation is hard sand. It is the intention of the Fullerton Co. to go deep on this well. Travis No. 4 still stands idle.
The General Petroleum has taken up the deep drilling at Richfield and has a number of wells making hole around the 4000 mark. Group 2-1 is now at 4200 drilling in shell. Group 4-3 at 3500 is in hard shell. Davis No. 1 is making good progress, the log shows 2000 feet drilled. Hugo No. 1 drilled to 3100 feet is setting pipe and will be ready for a production test in a few weeks. Mechanical trouble at McKraken No. 1 led to the substitution of cable tools for the rotary. Osman No. 1 is at 1800 in the conglomerate. The General Petroleum's next producer will be Walker No. 1 now being completed at 3225 feet. Indications point to a two hundred barrel well here.
The Harrington-Dumas Oil Co.'s No. 1 is now drilling in the shale at 3100 feet. At this depth the well has been showing a few colors, the first encouragement. Drilling is going right ahead nicely.
Announcement has just been made that Heffern No. 2 is to start up in a few days. General repairs on the machinery and equipment necessitated the shut down. Drilling resumes at 1150, where a string of 1 inch pipe was set. The management also stated that later on an effort would be made to rejuvenate old No. 1, drilled a year ago to 4500 feet. It seems that the new company has faith in the old well and believe that if it is carried to 5000 or 5200 feet a producer will result.
Drilling on the Long Bench Consolidated is now at 2075 feet. The formation is hard sand, but the drilling is going good.
Failing to get a shut off on the water at 3150 the Olive Petroleum Co., put in a string of 6 inch pipe and is going ahead with the drilling. It is believed that at a deeper point a more suitable formation will be struck that will facilitate a complete water shut off. The well is looking rather good and gives all the promise of a wild cat project needs.
Every foot drilled now seems to show the Placentia-Pacific Oil Co. well on the Went property at Richfield up better. At 2200 the formation is sandy shale that shows a lot of colors and gas bubbles.
The Petroleum Development Co.(Santa Pe) is getting ready to start drilling at Richfield No. 2. The new well will start with the rotary, Bradford Bros. No. 3 is drilling at 2200 in hard sand. Bradford Bros. No. 2 is doing about a hundred barrels at 3500 feet. Bradford Bos. No. 1 has been suspended, also Bradford No. 2, Bradford Community No. 1 is redrilling at 3783, the original depth of the hole being 3800 feet.
The Petroleum Midway's Yarnell No. 4-A got a complete shut off on the water at 2950, drilled on to 3025 and struck an excellent looking oil sand. No. 9 is rigging up with the intention of starting drilling soon. No. 11 failed to come up to expectation as to getting a shut off at 3200 and will be re-cemented.
Yarnell No. 12 is drill ing at 2950 in shafting hole at 1200, 2200 feet. Drilling 1 the Petroleum is at 400 and is time.
The Richfield Company has rig built hopes to have this few weeks. Progd. Almost all has been fished out and deepening wi continues to produce at 350 barrels, field's good well Consolidated is to on the good record the management.
The management Yorba is not settling their well he will probably drill that will facilitate a complete water shut off. The well is looking rather good and gives all the promise of a wild cat project needs.

THREE NEW WELLS ON CHAPMAN SOON
Richfield-PUlacentia Field
It will only be a matter of a short time now until the Union Oil Co. will have a lot of new production on the Chapman property, three wells are now drilling in the oil sand. No. 5 at 4055 is in the sand. No. 7 at 4-277 is in the sand, and also No. 8 at 3500 feet. The Union has started drilling on Towell No. 4, and is rigging up on J.W. Newell No. 3, both new wells. The difficulty of the pipe at Shepard No. 1 has been overcome and drilling is now going ahead again at 4580, the formation is hard brown shale, but is not showing any oil. Coyle and Bogue No. 1 is now a 4015 foot well drilling in the oil sand.
With the Union Co. getting a little showing of oil in the Gregg well and the Whitley Oil Co. making preparations to start two wells drilling the Ridout Heights field at Whitter is looking up to speak. At 3450 feet the Union's Gregg No. 1 is drilling in hard shell. Previous to the striking of the hard shell the well showed a few colors the first and only encouragement since the drilling started.
The Whitley Oil Co. has the lumber on the ground for Nos. 6 and 7, and will start drilling the cement out of No. 5 in a few days. As this well has stood for a number of months the work will be a little difficult.
Success is smiling now on the So. Cal. Oil Co.; after fishing for months and having about all the troubles akin to the oil industry new hole is now being made at 1095 and the drilling is going nicely.
The Standard Oil Co. continues its development of the famous Murphy-Whittier lease where some of the biggest wells in the state have been brot in. No. 81 is in the oil sand at 3000 feet and will be the next proFOR SALE—Three burner Domestic gas stove; also wood heating stove, 552-J.

Success is smiling now on the So. Cal. Oil Co. After fishing for months and having about all the troubles akin to the oil industry new hole is now being made at 1095 and the drilling is going nicely.
The Standard Oil Co. continues its development of the famous Murphy-Whittier lease where some of the biggest wells in the state have been brot in. No. 81 is in the oil sand at 3000 feet and will be the next producer. No. 82 stands cemented at 2800, and No. 83 is drilling at 1000 feet.
The Wilshire Oil Co. is setting a string of six-inch pipe in its 5100-foot well at Santa Fe Springs. This well struck a nice showing of oil at 5025 and bids fair to become one of the big wells of the southern field.
Drilling on the Bandini Petroleum Co.'s No. 1 is now at 3300 feet. With the hard sand formation now showing the indications are that the Bandini will have to go deeper to get the sand. The condition of the hole is good.
The Union Oil Co. is rigged up and ready to start drilling on Meyer No. 4 at Santa Fe Springs. Meyer No. 5 is at 3500 in coarse sand.
BOHON BLOWS OUT AND WRECKS
The Standard Oil Co.'s Bohon No. 1 at Hawthorne blew out late last Sunday afternoon and made a tremendous demonstration of the pressure gas is under when entrapped under the earth. Drilled to 1151 feet the well had been cemented and some preparatory work was being done to resume drilling when the blow out took place. The force of the escaping gas was so great that the derrick was practically wrecked, the tools greatly damaged and the heavy pipe connections in the rig destroyed. Bohon No. 1 is located near the Milwaukee Fountain Trust No. 1 the well that made the first blow out and created so much excitement. It seems that this is regular blow out territory and may be very difficult to drill on that account. The Standard is going right ahead repairing the rig and will be drilling again in a few days.
