Tuesday, January 25, 1921 GARDEN GROVE, Jan. 25—Officers of the Junior B. Y. P. U. were installed by the pastor, Rev. Walter F. Grigg, of the Baptist church, Sunday. A very interesting talk was given to the young people. The following officers were installed: President, Reva vice-president, Charles Blissett; Secretary, Howell Grigg; organist, Ruth Allen; assistant organist, Mildred Bissett; choreographer, Lawrence Allen; chairman of Sunshine committee, Emma Lehardt. Two of the boys' classes of the M. E. Sunday school gave a supper to two of the girls' classes last Friday night in the league room of the church. The supper was given as the result of a contest between the boys and girls. After the "dandy feed" the rest of the evening was enjoyed by playing out-door games. Another contest has been planned and the boys are hoping the treat will be given by the girls. The W. C. T. U. held a very enthusiastic meeting at the home of Mrs. J. T. Watson Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Chaffee led the devotions and members responded to roll call with New Year thoughts. Mrs. Cora Hale, of Fullerton, county president, gave a good report of the executive meeting held in Santa Anna. The hostess served dauny refreshments at the close of the meeting. The Queen Eather society of the M. E. church held their regular meeting and supper at the home of Mrs. Frank Winters Tu day evening. John Dicekman, who for the last two years was assistant cashier in the First National bank, will leave for Pasadena, Feb. 1, where he will make his home. F. L. Doepke, of Santa Ana, will take Mr. Dicekman's place and entered upon his duties on Monday. F. D. Wakefield and wife, of Los Angeles, moved to Garden Grove Tuesday, where they will make their home. Mr. Wakefield being interested in oil development in this locality. He has had 32 years of practical experience in oil drilling and will probably be engaged to oversee the building of the Garden Grove Oil company's deep test well. George Tourant has traded his Overland car for a new Willys-Knight. Mrs. Gene Colfitt returned Sunday from a visit with relatives in Arcadia. Miss Vanhove, a nurse of Los Angeles, returned Sunday after a week's visit at the W. W. Dungan home. Miss Vanhove is a cousin of Mrs. Dungan. Mrs. Margaret Gunther resumed her duties as nurse at the local hospital after being ill for a week. Charles Stevens, of David City, town, arrived Friday for a visit with Mr.-and-Mrs. Harry Elmore. Other week-end visitors at the Elmore home were Mrs. Elmore's sister, Mrs. W.H.Packard, and son, of Venice. Miss Helen Barnes has left for her home in Sacramento after a ten days' visit at the Chas, Holt ranch. Mrs. A. C. Itelm, of Pasadena, visited at the home of Mrs. Susan A. Chaffee. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Spain entertained the following relatives Sunday: Willard Spain, Mr. and Mrs. George Spain, of Los Angeles, and Mr. and Mrs. J.Castleman, of Huntington Park. Edward Ryan, of Olinda, was a visitor in Garden Grove Wednesday. Roswell Jacques has returned from a visit with his uncle at Santa Susanna. Mr. and Mrs. C.Benson, of Anaheim, visited with friends her Wednesday. D. L.Tyler and son, Hugh Tyler, made a business trip to Los Angeles Tuesday. (Special) Last Friday was a delightful day for Mrs. Reynolds and her sister, Mrs. Chambers of West Coast. They motored to Los Angeles and Mrs. Reynolds attended an old club meeting at Mrs. Geo. Donaghy's on 5713 and Moneda Ave., meeting many old friends. Mrs. Chambers spent most of the day with her son, Mr. E. F. James and wife, of Holldwood; met Mrs. Mabee, her daughter, of Whittier, also making a grand day for all concerned. Don't forget choir practice next Friday night at the home of Mrs. Girley.
