Wednesday, January 19, 1921 AMALGAMATED HAS SPLENDID SHOWING Placeria-Richfield District. The Amalgamated Oil Co. struck a splendid showing of oil and gas in Breen No. 1-A at 3100 feet. The showing continues at 3140, where the drilling is making rapid progress. The Breen should be the best well the Amalgamated has thus far in the Richfield district. At 3100 feet Mann No. 1 showed its first enco urgement with a nile showing of gas and colors. Page No. 1 is setting boilers and rigging up and will be the next well to start drilling. The Blixby ranch syndicate has recovered from formation trouble and is ready to resume the drilling of new hole at 3185. To date this well has not shown any encouragement, to speak of, but may prove a surprise as a deep test well. At Anghelm Union Water No. 1 the Dr. C. S. O'Toole Physician & Surgeon Phones: Residence 548 Office 569. Fullerton Oil Co. is making good progress cleaning out and will soon be making new hole; Cleaning out is now at 3235, the bottom of the hole measures 3345. Travis No. 4 still stands awaiting neighboring developments. Because no showings warranted further work and satisfied that to drill further would be only a waste of money, the General Petroleum has abandoned three wells in the Richfield district. Group 1-1 or Treydie No. 1 drilled to 3241 feet, at no time showed any oil indications and is now being abandoned. Group 5-1, or Boughner No. 1, drilled to 4014 feet, at no time showed any indications of production and is being pulled out. The third well to be abandoned is Vejar No. 1. This one drilled to 4425 feet ended up in hard shale with not as much as a color of oil. Group 4-2 is now a deep well, drilling in hard shell at 4150. Davis No. 1 is drilling at 1860 feet in shale and boulders. Hugo No. 1, now at 3150 feet, is in the oil sand and will be the G.-P.'s next producer. The Osmah well is making hole at 680 in the conglomerate. Marshburn No. 1, at 1000 feet, is in clay. On the Stern property No. 4 is 600, and No. 5 at 2400 feet. Thompson No. 4 is drilling at 2400 and No. 5 redrilling at 3100. Walker No. 1 is drilling in the oil sand at 3225 and will be brought in soon. A rather good well is looked for on the Walker. Indications are now encouraging LOUIS DANZ "THINK OF MUSIC" The Second The Second Week Of Falkenstein's Annual Clearance Now On Now On Every Article Reduced Falkenstein's Anaheim THE ORANGE COUNTY PLAIN DEALER, ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA 2 NEW COMPANIES ENTER BEACH FIELD Huntington Beach Field The entrance of two new companies into the Huntington Beach oil field brings the number of operating companies up to 23, and the number of wells under way 42. Old "hard luck" took a heavy toll at Huntington Beach the last week. The Amalgamated, drilling at Huntington No. 1 at 2440, had the drill pipe "freeze" and twist off and leave 2100 feet in the hole. A liner is to be set at 500 feet as a protection against caving. With the liner set the washing over the stuck drill pipe will be started. Just as the West Whittier was getting ready to set pipe, with only eight feet more of hole to ream, the drill pipe froze, leaving a four-way bit in the hole. The bit will be shot off, and the pipe set above at about 2800 feet. On drilling out the cement and going ahead the lost four-way will be sidetracked and drilled by. The Texcal is not entirely out of its difficulties yet, although the condition of the hole is better, and drilling new hole is about to start at 2450. Drilling at 3500 feet in brown shale the Mid-Central well is looking quite favorable and gives encouragement to the development work on the northwest side of the field. The Petroleum-Midway is ready to spud in and start drilling on Columbia No. 1-1, a new well, and also on the Vollmer-Meyers where the rig is up and everything in readiness to start drilling. At 2200 feet the Republic Petroleum Co. struck quite a showing of oil in the tar sand. At 2425 the drilling is going right ahead with the intention of setting pipe now at 3000 feet. The Standard is making preparations to bring in Huntington B-1. The new producer is better than 2100 feet deep and has been showing up very good. On the Huntington A property No. 4 has set a string of pipe at 2850 and is standing cemented. This well, offsetting the Texcal, showed up very nicely before the pipe was set. Bolsa No. 1 is still We Buy Liberty Bonds Market Value BURNED WELL TURNS INTO RICH GASSER Union Stearns No. 57, the well that created a lot of excitement by blowing out, catching fire and burning for a number of days, has turned into a big and valuable gasser. A few days ago the debris was cleaned away the well put under control and the escaping gas diverted into the gas main. On measuring the output of the gas the meter showed the surprising figure of two million feet per day. This amount of gas under a pressure of 200 pounds and coming from a well only 1300 feet deep is rather remarkable. A new rig is being built and the real condition of the hole will be learned soon. The tremendous amount of gas must be coming from a live oil sand, and when completed Stearns 57 should be one of the biggest wells ever completed in Brea Canyon. The Brea Canyon Oil Co.'s No. 32 now drilling at 3650 is in brown sandy shale and is not looking very good for the depth. Aside from showing a little gas, the well looks as tho it will have to go much deeper before getting into something good. No. 33 is redrilling at 1350 feet and No. 2-A, an old producer, is also redrilling. Not satisfied with the showing Menchego No. 2 made at 2850 the Columbia Oil Producing Co. is going on and now the well is drilling in the sandy shale at 3000 feet. Menchego No. 2 is also at 3000 and is in the same formation. On the Pico property No. 2 is making hole at 3010 in hard sand and No. 3 is now standing with the cement setting at 600 feet. The Fullerton Oil Co.'s No. 16 at Brea drilling at 2565 is showing a lot of gas and is beginning to look rattlegood. Redrilling with the rotary is to start as soon as the rigging up work is completed at 2700 feet. No. 14 is standing at 1400 feet. This was gradually modified, till separations could be obtained for cause. The hearing of cases came to be a function of the courts, and laws grew and adapted themselves till a special code of divorce laws was formed, with a special court to handle the cases. In England, in 1857, the first real divorce court was established by act of parliament. CALIFORNIA PAGE THREE —A Want A0 in The Clear Dealer —Job Printing at The Plain Dealer.
