PAGE TWO Society: Clubs: Lodges: Churches HONORED WITH SHOWER Mrs. Deta Pratt, whose marriage to George Cheatham was an affair of today, was honored with a miscellaneous shower last evening at the home of Miss Mary Hurtado, West Broadway, by the proprietors and clerks of the S. Q. R. store, where Mrs. Pratt has been employed in the ready-to-wear department. Each guest was dressed in comical costume to represent a noted character. After the guests had all arrived, a mock marriage ceremony was performed, with Miss Marle Dep weg, as the bride, Miss Goodrun as the groom, dressed in full evening dress, Miss Carrie Peterson as the bridesmaid, Sam Adams as the best man, Mr. Braunlilch as the ring bearer, and Mr. David Swanson as the minister. With Mrs. Swenson at the piano rendering the wedding march, the bridal party entered the living room. Immediately following them, cane Mr. Hunt and Mrs. Wilson, dressed as children, and carrying a large clothes basket willed with packages, which they said contained groceries. Chtatham, E. S. Roberts, Braunlich. PRIZE PARROT ENTERTAINS Mrs. W. C. Brumagim, Garden Grove-rd, was hostess yesterday afternoon when she entertained the members of the "A.O." club. Ten members responded to the invitations for the afternoon and Mrs. E. L. Fergus and Miss Mildred Idlor were guests of the club. A part of the afternoon was devoted to a business meeting, the members responding to roll call with a current event. Election of officers was also held and the officers who will serve during the coming term are: President, Mrs. John Kelly; vice president, Mrs. Little; secretary, Mrs. J. Idlor. An entertainment, a little out of the ordinary, but highly pleasing to the audience, was given by "Polly Ann," Mrs. Brumagim's pet parrot Polly Anna gave a program of varied and amusing "stunts." Fancy work took up a part of the time also. Mrs. Brumagim served a dainty two-course tray supper at the close of the afternoon. The members present were: Mesdames J. B. McKinley, J. Reves, J. Idlor, Little, E. C. Chamberlain, Ida Dutton, W. N. Thompson, John Kelly, A. C. Pearson, John Cook. ENTERTAIN AT DINNER first prize to Miss Marie Rimpau, sevcond to Mrs. C. F. Grim, and the consolation to Mrs. C. S. O'Toole. At the close of the afternoon the hostess served a dalinity two-course luncheon. The guests of the afternoon were Mesdames G. Raymond Franklin, W. A. RECEPTION TO PASTOR, WIFE Despite the inclement weather,a large crowd was in attendance last evening at the reception in the parlors of the Methodist White Temple in honor of the pastor and sis wife, Dr., and Mrs.James Allen Geissinger. A program was given consisting of selections by a male quartet composed of Messrs.Warren and Perry Mathis, E.L.Hatcher and N.R.Phillips.Mrs.Paul V.Hester gave four numbers on the organ. Mr.F.T.Edmiston was chairman of the evening,giving a short talk which was responded to by Dr.Gelssinger.In behalf of the ladies of the church Mrs.E.L.Hatcher,president of the Ladies'Aid society,presented the pastor and his wife with a number of jars of fruit.In a few words,Mrs.Gelssinger thanked the ladies for the gift.The evening was then spent in visiting,and becoming better acquainted,easily with those who have recently united with the church. During the social hour frugal and wafers were served. GRAB BASKET ENTERTAINING Mrs.Geo.Nolan Jr.,and Mrs.W.LaMont were hostesses at a social gathering at the Colonial-apis Tuesday afternoon. A large grab basket was the main feature of the afternoon.Many of the guests drew blanks while Mrs.Collings,Mrs.W.W.Mickle,Mrs.Glen Black,Mrs.A.Wilkle and Mrs.C.Tompkins were exceedingly fortunate and succeeded in winning all th prizes. After much laughter and comment,the hostesses served daity refreshments.
