CYPRESS ENJOYING FARM CENTER MTGS. CYPRESS, Jan. 18.—(Special.)—The Farm Center meetings at the school house the second Thursdays of each month are becoming famous. Every one enjoys them. Last Thursday was no exception. There was a good turn out, a good program and a great pie feast. After the regular opening services there was much discussion of the pig club. The committee appointed to assist Mr. Waters in the formation of such a club had been discharged at the previous meeting. Mr. Waters has the club under way but asked for help in keeping it going. The chair appointed Mesdames Jones, Johns, Alplanalp, Preston, Dugan and Cox to assist in the club work. The drainage committee reported that the work of the district was at a standstill while attorneys were arranging the legal matters with the Bixby and Helman interests concerning the outlet. Prof. L. B. Smith of the College of Agriculture spoke at length on "The Farm Center Builds the Community and Raises Farm Values." Chairman Bowman volunteered to place $100 in the Buena Park bank to finance the Pig Club. O. P. Bunyard offered his services in the transporting of Club members to the different farms or wherever it was necessary for the youngsters to go in the study of hog raising. The election of officers was disposed of in short order; a motion that the present officers hold over for another year carried. Mr. Bowman was reappointed director of the Farm Bureau and C. S. Cox vice director. Mrs. C. S. Cox with a second of H. H. Covell presented the following motion: "Move that the Cypress Farm Center request the Board of Directors of the Farm Bureau, to consider the Bessica F. Raiche, M. D. Specializing Obstetrics and Diseases of Women feasibility of cooperative buying for members of the Farm Bureau, such things as farming implements, fertilizers, seeds and such staple groceries as sugar, flour, soap, cured meats and other things." After the business of the evening came the social hour, in which the fun of a pie auction was the main feature. A Booster Campaign for membership has started with the following committee in charge: Joe Ritter and C. L. Spraker, O. P. Bunyard and Mr. Gatgens, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Chandler. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Morris was entered and thoroughly searched one night last week. The Morrises spent the evening with their son, T. R. Morris, and on returning home found everything toys-turvey. There was nothing missing only two pairs of Mr. Morris' trousers. There were three gold watches and some small change that the burglars did not appear to want. There is no clew as to who the trespassers were. Miss Ruth Worrel of Indianapolis is a guest at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Flora Cox. Miss Worrel is a Red Cross nurse and spent a year in the service of her country at Camp Mills. Albert Young is on the disabled list as a result of a run in with his Henry Ford one cold morning. The Henry kicked back and broke Albert's right wrist. The broken members is mending nicely. The trial of Mr. and Mrs. C. Ghyssels on a felony charge takes place in Santa Ana on the 17th. Mr. and Mrs. Ghyssels did much to disfigure the appearance of Clarence Gorthy one day last week. Mr. Gorthy says the Ghyssels would have made their threats of murdering him good if it had not been for the interference of Mrs. Gorthy. There has been bad blood between the two for over a year over water right, and it culminated in the fight in which Mr. Gorothy was badly worsened. Mrs. Martha Pond of Morgan Hill is visiting a few days at the C. S. Cox home. Mrs. Pond is spending the winter in Southern Calif., with relations at Long Beach and Los Angeles. The Centralla school baseball team came over to Cypress Friday afternoon and tasted victory and defeat.
