SURPRISE BIRTHDAY SHOWER
Mrs. R. E. Campbell, of Zeyn-st,
was hostess last evening to the members of the Chat 'N Seau Club. Aside
from the evening of fancy work and
music, one of the members, Miss
Frances Schumacher, was honored
with a surprise birthday shower.
Miss Schumacher did not arrive
until late in the evening, and while
all were busy, chatting and sewing,
Mr. Campbell entered the room with
an armful of daintily wrapped packages and deposited them on the honored guest's lap.
She was so overcome, for a minute,
she could not speak, then recovering
herself, she opened the packages,
which were found to contain many
very pretty gifts, which will be added to those already in the "Hope
Chest" for an event, which Dame Rumor says, is not so very far distant.
Late in the evening the hostess
served chocolate and daltony individual
cakes, while a little later a beautiful birthday cake, iceed in pink and
white was brot in, and presented to
Miss Schumacher, who cut it, and
served it to the guests. The merry
crowd dispersed at eleven o'clock declaring they had spent a most enjoyable evening.
Those present were Misses Lillian
Degryse, Ruth Boyd, Frances Schumacher, Florence Hammill, Viola Eliiott,
Hazel Withee, Sylvia May Dumas, Mesdames Voss Herrington, J.
Lloyd Moore, Norbert Anderson, H.
K. Boyd and the hostess.
