News of Fullerton BICYCLE, LOCK AND CHAIN REMOVED O. V. Knowlton, who recently declared he had "put one over" on the thieves who stole his bicycle by putting a lock and chain on his new one, is not so sure now. Indeed, he is quite certain that someone has "put one over" on him. He left his "bike" chained and locked to an iron post near the city hall this morning. When he returned the post was still there but the "bike," lock and chain had all disappeared. Ed Thwing may be a good city marshal, but he couldn't find that "bike" in a year—no, for he would never think of looking in the judge's office for it. Judge French and Mont Jackson saw the bicycle there and thought of what a joke it would be to see Mr. Knowlton's grimaces, so there is the bike tagged. "Found at the railroad station at 10:30. Owner may have same on identification." LEGION WILL MEET TONIGHT The monthly meeting of the American Legion of Fullerton will be held tonight at 7:30 o'clock at the new legion club rooms over the Standard bank. BIBLE CLASS WILL HOLD "PEP" MEETING The teachers and officers of the Houser Bible class of Fullerton will hold a meeting tonight at the church parlors to discuss means of adding additional "pep" to their campaign for 500 members. They now have 335 members with an average attendance of about 150, which makes the class the largest in the state with the exception of Long Beach. Sunday 178 were present, and a special stunt was put on by C. O. Culp who dressed himself up as a representative from the competing class of Santa Ana and told what was going to happen to Fullerton—after the fashion of what happened to the football team. This consists of a brick building adjoining the present bank holdings on the north, now occupied by Wheeler & Co., has a meat market. Some months ago the property was purchased by E. R. Stillens and is now conveyed by Stillens and wife to the bank. For some time it has been evident the office space of the bank was inadequate to accommodate the growing volume of business. Owing to the construction of the present bank building it was found impractical to enlarge on the present lot. After consulting various architects, the best possible solution seemed the purchase of the building on the north and this directors have done. Plans are now being drawn for the construction of a safety deposit vault holding 500 or more steel boxes, a strictly up-to-date vault in every respect, with complete electrical burglar alarm system, and as near burglar proof as modern equipment will provide. The office and working space will be doubled and furniture and furnishings will be modern in every respect. Commodious lobbies will be possible, convenient and attractive to the public. Private booths for box renters, private consultation rooms and a good sized assembly room will be at the service of the public. MORE SEATS FOR RIALTO There are so many people going to the show in Fullerton that the Rialto theatre, the one playhouse in town, is being remodeled and accommodations made for 150 more people. Harry Leg Wilber, proprietor, stated this morning. Seventy-five upholstered wrist and was badly shaken up. He was taken to the Fullerton General hospital for treatment. The score on the girls' team was 15 to 10 in Fullerton's favor, and of the boys' team 28 to 11. WHITE NUT BREAD Three cups white flour, 3 level teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons sugar. Sift all these ingredients together. Add 1½ cups sweet milk, 1 tablespoon melted shortening, and ¼ cup English walnut meats; broken in rather coarse pieces. Mix all together, dressing the top with a paper dipped in melted shortening, after it is in a greaseed pan. Let rise 15 minutes, then bake in a slow oven for an hour. This is best baked in a covered pan; the round hinged pan which come for that purpose are ideal. Be thankful you are paying an income tax to Uncle Sam and not an indemnity to William Hohanzollern.
