VOTE FOR THE BONDS
(Huntington Beach News)
June 10 is the day when the voters of Orange-co will decide the fate of Newport harbor. The ballot will contain the proposition of issuing $500,900 worth of securities to be converted into cash for the improvement of the harbor at Newport Beach.
It is now generally conceded that the eventuality of this improvement will be of considerable benefit to every section of Orange-co, and that favorable expression has emanated from all parts of the county, especially through the Associated Chambers of Commerce of the county, otherwise the supervisors would not have called the election, which entails an appreciable item of expense.
Then it follows that if there is a prevailing opinion in the remoter districts of the county that this great improvement will be beneficial to the citizens at large, the development of Newport Bay will be especially advantageous to Huntington Beach and vicinity.
No argument is necessary to convince most persons that the improvement of a harbor materially advances the interests of a large area of contiguous territory. There can be no other result, which is evidenced by the fact that nearly all of the large cities of the world are either located at deep water harbors or on navigable rivers, water freight rates being primarily essential for the development and growth of commercial interests and manufacturing industries.
The old story of the proximity of San Pedro, about 20 miles away, being adequate for the requirements of this section of the state.

ona Park, La Habra, Yorba Linda,
etc., because the buildings in these
centers of population at this time are
sufficient to accommodate present
requirements.
This is probably true in most
cities today, but they will grow and
more stores will be required, and the
day will come when more harbor
room is required, and it is time to
start the improvement by the voters
of the county approving the bonds
for this purpose, which will open the
way for the Federal government to
recognize the Newport Harbor.
The citizens of Newport, Beach
have made a wonderful effort in voting bonds in the sum of $240,000 for
the construction of a jetty and dredging a channel, and their struggle
should be assisted by the county at
large, in order to assure government
assistance.
There appears to be no valid reason why any voter in Huntington Beach should not support the bonds,
and the indications are that there will
be but few who will fall to do so.
The development of a harbor at Newport Beach will add to the prosperity
of Huntington Beach.
Vote for the bonds.
There is quite a curiosity on display at Livesey's show window at
Santa Ana. George West of the Bixby ranch in the Santa Ana canyon,
brought in a pair of monkey-faced owls, birds which live in the ground,
cannot fly, although they have wings,
and which have faces remarkably
like a monkey's face.

You get all these new standards—all these advances—without any extra price.
Two years ago—when this model was started—the Mitchell employs a famous body designer. And this new Mitchell shows his own of the coming fine car design.
It is new in its low, straight lines. It is new in its color and finish. There are four coats of varnish instead of the usual two.
The motor is built by new exacting methods which save much ever waste. The crank shaft is twice balanced on new type balance-machines. The bearings are large—the operation smooth.
Come see it. It is evident everywhere that the demand this long will twice exceed the output. Thousands will be forced to be a lesser type of car.
