VISIT COUNTY PARK A jolly bunch of Juniors from the Methodist church motored to Orange County Park Saturday for a picnic. FARM CENTER HEARS REPORT OF STATE CONFERENCE BUENA PARK, April 23.—Spcial The Buena Park Farm Center met on Monday evening at the School hall. A fine and appreciative company were present and listened attentively to the very interesting and instructive reports of the delegates to the state conference held at Davis and Berkeley. Mr. Campbell of Orange, reported the tour of the conference delegates from Berkeley to San Luis Obispo and also the trip thru Orange-co. Mr. Smiley of Santa Ana, reported the remainder of the tour, mentioning the various demonstrations and entertainments in all of which Orange-co easily took the lead. Mr. Larson one of the two government experts who have been assigned to investigate and study methods of exterminating the bean weevil was present and gave an interesting talk on what progress had been made and plans for future study. Dr. Schofield, the director from this Center reported the last county directors' meeting and presented the constitution and by-laws for a State Federation of Farm Bureau which had been approved by the conference delegates and referred to the various County Farm Bureau and Centers for approval. The constitution and by-laws were unanimously approved. Mr. Wahlberg, county farm advisor, spoke of plans for the programs for the year and asked for a program committee to confer with him to plan a definite line of work. Special attention was called to the Annaul Farm Bureau Picnic which will be held at Orange County Park Saturday, May 3. Everybody is welcome and asked to bring well-filled baskets. The County Bureau will furnish coffee. YEOMAN ADOPTION SUPPER SUCCESS The Yeoman class adoption and supper which was held in the Odd Fellows Hall Monday evening was a grand success in every detail. Two hundred people were served at the dinner which was in cafateria style. The dinner was in charge of Miss Margaret Junge, assisted by 12 ladies with Mr. J. E. Stroup as chef. Immediately following the dinner the guests adjourned to the lodge rooms where the work was exemplified to 83 candidates, 54 being from Anaheim, the rest from Long Beach, Whittier and Orange. The initiatory work was put on by the Anaheim degree team composed of ladies only, with J. S. Freeman as captain. At the close of the initiation ceremonies, District Manager Freeman presented the Homestead of Anaheim with the first quarter prize banner, which was given for the largest number of members for the first quarter. Following this was a splendid program by the different homesteads. A rube quartet from Long Beach furnished some very good music, a reading by Mr. Vestal of Whittier, solo by Mr. Cutchshall Spanish dance by Miss Antonia Friend of Anaheim. This was followed by speeches from prominent Yeoman, with Judge J. S. Howard as toastmaster, W. J. Elliott state manager of Sacramento, W. R. Shirley, chairman of board of directors of Muskogee, Okla., Mrs. Atha K. Johnston of Los Angeles, supreme overseer. The closing address was made by Mr. Allen of Brawley, vice-supreme delegate. After the program dancing was enjoyed, the music being furnished chestra. The next quartet will be held in Los Angeles and 150 are expected at this time. A large audience enjoyed the Easter services at the Methodist church Sunday evening. The church was most attractively decorated with simlax, lilies and roses. Rev. Flisher gave many beautiful thoughts which will linger with the people. Mr. and Mrs. R. Schofield of Long Beach spent Sunday at the home of Dr. J. R. Schofield. Mrs. A. E. Smothers and little daughter returned Friday after a week's visit with friends in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Miss Blanch Sawyer who lived in the Park several years ago will be married this evening to Mr. Elmer Sherwood of Placentia. The young couple will spend their honeymoon in Utah visiting the bride's parents. They expect to return to California to make their home near Placentia. The ladies of the Methodist church will meet Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the church rooms. The Boy Scouts will meet Friday at the usual meeting place. Mr. and Mrs. Oran House and little daughter from Whittier spent Easter at the home of Mrs. House's mother, Mrs. B. F. Gerkey. Lient. I. D. Jaynes is spending the week with home folks and shaking hands with old friends. Friday being a holiday, Miss Ruby Roth spent Friday and Saturday at her home in Redlands, returning to the Park to help with the Easter services here. There will be a lecture Wednesday evening at the Methodist church by Charles Booth. Everyone is cordially invited. Rev. J. E. Flisher with Dr. Schofield and family motored to the Easter sunrise services at Yorba Linda Sunday morning. Mrs. J. W. Wilson, Mrs. H. H. Haggarty and Miss Alice Ingram were hostesses to their Sunday school classes at the home of Mrs. Wilson Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Games were enjoyed and delicious refreshments were served to the happy youngsters.
