SPECIAL SERVICES SUNDAY MORN IN OLINDA CHURCHES OLINDA, April 18.—Special—The Olinda M. E. church will hold special Easter services for the children at 11 a.m., on Sunday. Kent will preach a special Easter sermon. The Olinda Nazarene church will have an Easter program from 10 to 11 Sunday morning. At 11 o'clock Rev. Elliott will preach a special Easter sermon. Come one and all. Rev. J. M. Elliott and wife of Olinda, and Mrs. Elliott's brother, N. T. Contrill of Colorado, who is visiting them, motored to Riverside on Wednesday, by the way of Santa Ana canyon. Today they will visit Redondo Beach. On Saturday they will talk Mr. Contrill to Los Angeles from where in a few days he will return to Colorado. The Olinda P. T. A. held a very interesting meeting on Thursday. Professor from the Fullerton Junior high school gave a very interesting talk. Mrs. Clark and Miss Clark of Los Angeles, mother and sister of Miss Clark, kindergarten teacher played a piano and violin solo. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miranda Olinda were shopping in Anaheli Thursday. Quite a number of ladies attended the Daughter's tea at Mrs. Palmer of Placentia on Wednesday. Among those from Olinda were Mrs. Charlie Williams, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Miranda. Mrs. Nelson returned to her home at the Columbia Boarding House Thursday after spending ten days her home in Bellflower. She is feeling quite well again. Mrs. Henry Connor of the Columbia lease is on the sick list. Mrs. Annie Barkey of Paso Robles who has been visiting her brother Rev. Kent and family of Olinda went to Pasadena today to visit. C. P. Scott and wife of the Columbia lease went to Santa Paula Friday. They will return Monday. Mr. Grace Jackson will care for their children while they are away. Mr. Dug Rose and Mr. Joe Yaege were business visitors in Santa Ana Friday. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Smith of Anderson, Cal., banker of wide experience, is the controlling spirit in the enterprise, and he will identify himself with the client and become a permanent fixture which assertion is made because his substantial purchase already made of the McDermont building on the southwest corner of Spadra road and Amerige avenue; occupied by Dreyer & Thompson with the Central garage. The occupants are to vacate on the 1st of July. Mr. Smith will immediately thereafter have the building remodeled or rebuilt, which will take fully 60 days. SEES BROTHERS FIRST TIME IN 30 YEARS H. F. Bishop entertained the Woman's Club Thursday afternoon, there being a large number of members present. After an interesting business meeting, Mrs. J. R. Schofield gave an able talk on civic improvement and Miss Lida Scott of Riverside gave an interesting talk on "Life in Washington, D.C. as seen by a War Worker." The Boy Scouts with their scout master, Rev. J. E. Fisher, will be entertained at the home of C. E. Ritter this evening. The Buena Park Farm Center will meet at the school hall Monday evening. W. E. Page returned to the Park this week after a several weeks' visit at his old-home in Missouri. The Fireman's Ball which took place in the Masonic hall Wednesday evening was enjoyed by a large crowd and the Jazz orchestra from Anaheim furnished the music. At a late hour refreshments were served in the banquet room, by members of the fire department. The Stereopticon views and lecture by Rev. J. E. Fisher Sunday evening were enjoyed by a good audience. The tank house and adjoining barn on the Elli P. Fay ranch were totally destroyed by fire one night this week.
