NEW $60,000 ROAD FROM ANAHEIM TO KRAMER OILFIELD
A. A. Mills reported to the Board of Trade Monday evening that the proposition to secure a paved road into the new Chapman-Kramer oilfields looked very favorable, following inspection of the route with Supervisor Wm. Schumacher.
The supervisor said present road projects would use up available road building funds but with the new fiscal year starting July 1 he believed the Richfield road could be taken up immediately.
The proposed route is four miles long, starting due south from Richfield station to the Corona-rd, thence west along Corona-rd to Tucker's corner, from Tucker's corner west on La Palma-ave to Placentia-ave, giving a direct route from the new oilfields to Anaheim.
The proposed road will cost about $60,000.
Schumacher did not view with favor the proposition to pave just now from Placentia-ave to the corner of East and North-sts.

URGES WOMEN
TO AID LOAN
By MRS. A. S. BALDWIN,
Chairman Woman's Liberty Loan Committee of Twelfth Federation Reserve District.
This last call is truly a Victory Loan. What greater pride can men and women experience than in contributing to it? A Victory Bond will be worth more than its price expressed in dollars. Every one will be a badge testifying that the holder has helped his country to fulfill its pledge to those who have been spared as well as those who have made the supreme sacrifice.
We have at the present time about two million men in Europe who must be provided with all that is necessary to keep them in good spirits and condition; and when their work shall have been finished, they will be sold to Maslas upon a lease. A felony is charged.

country to fulfill its pledge to those who have been spared as well as those who have made the supreme sacrifice.
We have at the present time about two million men in Europe who must be provided with all that is necessary to keep them in good spirits and condition; and when their work shall have been finished, they must be brought home and demobilized. The Government must make good the contracts it has entered into for the construction of all war munitions, and for food supplies already bought.
Having responded to the Government's calls in the past, and having loaned our money ungrudgingly to hurry forward the men and supplies, and victory having come to us because of this, shall we hesitate for a moment to respond to the last call—the Victory Liberty Loan—when we can do so by pleading our credit, perhaps with some little personal inconvenience, sacrifice or small discomfort?
The credit and good faith of our country is at stake. We have won the war, and the cost is small compared with what has been won. The men of the West with red blood in their veins will not need to be appealed to, because they will subscribe to this last call of the Government as ungrudgingly as they did in the past. There are others, however, who may not be so keenly and conscientiously alive to the duty of responding to the Nation's call, and it is to those that the women must direct their most untiring efforts.
Two reasons for buying Victory Liberty Bonds:
1. To keep the bonds out of the hands of rich men.
2. To assure good times by letting the money the banks have go into industry. If the banks take the loan, interest rates go up and enterprise languages Then—hard times.

Chairman A. B. McCord of the Victory Loan committed repeats with interest an incident last Saturday at the county meeting at Santa Ana by Major, Couldston of Pasadona, just back from France. Says the major:
"A bunch of Yanks was stationed on a quiet sector where their trenches ran along a ridge but a short distance from the Huns. The Yanks had been told not to start anything, holding their fire until the Huns fired first. But the Yanks got tired of the quietness. They hurled volley after volley of epithets at the Huns, but there was nothing doing. Finally, they picked up a lot of boulders and pitched them over at the Huns. The boulders were an insult and they started fighting. That was all the Yanks wanted. They went over and mopped up the Hun trenches.
