MASQUERADE DANCE FRIDAY EVE. VERY ENJOYABLE AFFAIR YORBA LINDA, April 7—Special —The masquerade dance given by the dancing club on Friday evening at Ley hall was a very enjoyable affair. The costumes were varied and most interesting, and created a great deal of amusement. An exceptionally handsome Chinese court costume, worn by Mrs. Bosworth, was awarded first ladies prize. Miss Mabrey in a stylishly tailored spring suit cut from gunny sacks won the second prize, and Mr. R. A. Madsen was given the first gentlemen prize. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Walker and son, and their guest, Miss Helen Taylor of San Diego, motored up from San Pedro Saturday and spent the week-end at their ranch. The track meet Thursday evening was especially well attended. About three hundred people gathered to see the single men beat the married men. The events were well entered and enthusiastically received by the crowd. The married men showed particular excellence in the jumping event, and considering that they had all experienced quite a taste of married life, it was not to be wondered at. The events included a fifty yard dash, hundred yard dash, two hundred yard dash, high jump, standing jump, shot put and pole vault. The events included a fifty yard dash, hundred yard dash, two hundred yard dash, high jump, standing jump, shot out and pole vault. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Runnells and Family of Tustin were visiting old friends and neighbors in Yorba Linda Sunday afternoon. Miss Mahrey of Los Angeles has been visiting her sisters, Mrs. Swain and Mrs. Covington for the past week. Miss Katherine Quirk spent the week-end in Los Angeles. Ross Knight and family motored to Long Beach Sunday to visit relatives. Mrs. Mary Allman, Mrs. Lucy Quigley, Mrs. Gardner, Miss Maddox, and Geo. Quigley motored to Riverside on Sunday. Mrs. Max Schneider of Hollywood was called to Yorba Linda Saturday by the serious illness of her brother's baby daughter, little Jean DeWitt. The small patient is having a very hard battle with a severe case of double pneumonia, and although she is not yet out of danger the outlook is much more encouraging this morning. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Drury who motored from Goodrich, Ind., have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Drake. Mrs. Rose Mahony of Whittier was a week-end guest at the Drake home. Mrs. E. N. Gage came from Los Angeles to attend the masquerade dance and was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Selover Friday night. Mrs. Vasco Mills and daughter Miss Geraldine of Orchardate, were visiting in Yorba Linda on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Andrada are visiting Mr. and Mrs. William Fassel. On Friday night the party went grunnion fishing, and Sunday was spent enjoying angling at Laguna Beach. Miss Olive Walton was looking up old friends in Yorba Linda on Saturday. Her sister, Miss Mary Walton returned to the city with her. While going home from the hardware store Saturday night Mr. Chas Selover lost a money pouch containing checks and $70 in money. Look for the Eyes on the Window. The most vital essential in any tractor Take, for example, two tractors guaranteed to miles per hour while pulling two 14-inch boots they were equally good in material and ww first sight one would be as good a buy as the tractor pulls its rated capacity only where such that there is no slippage of the drive ground. How much does each one slip—in slippery clay—in soft, well cultivated ground? Drive wheels of a certain size have to number of revolutions to cover 2 1-3 miles, that number of revolutions will actually travel distance if there is no slippage. But when number of revolutions to travel 2 1-3 miles he and, due to wheel slippage, a distance short have been traveled, the tractor has done as consumed as much fuel and oil as if it had plowed distance. Do not confuse work done by the amount of plowing done. A tractor must get out of a hole as would plow of the field. The amount of loss by wheel on poor footing from one-fourth to three feet should be traveled. This means that one-fourth of the money spent in gasoline and produces no plowed ground! FAGEOL TRACTION Three things are responsible for the efficiency of Fageol Tractors; the positive tractor Grouser Wheels—the solid live drive axle open Individual Clutches in each drive wheel—a of moving parts from dust. Received a Shipment for the money. The F. 207 North Los Angeles St. The Orange County Plain Dealer, Anaheim, Calif. FAGEO WALKING TRANSFER Walks Right Along and Runs Where You Want It Guarantees Positive Fraction DRIVE WHEELS AND GROUSERS In the Fageol, actual contact with the ground is obtained by gearing the drive wheels to the soil, by means of legs or Grousers, deep enough to reach ground solid enough for positive traction. The drive wheels are two 28-inch drums fitted with two rows of Grousers, sixteen in each row. Each Grouser is a hollow wedge, 10 inches long and 2 1-4 inches across the driving face. The entire weight of the rear end is sustained in three Grousers. Due to their penetration, they provide traction even in loose soil. There being four rows of Grousers on the two wheels, it follows that in hard soil there are always eight points in contact with the ground and when the soil is loose and the penetration deeper, there are from twelve to sixteen points in the ground with a weight on the rear wheels of over two thousand pounds. With a penetration of six inches, the actual area at right angles to the surface of the ground available for pulling the load is 170 square inches. CLUTCH AND SOLID AXLE In order to utilize fully and allow immediate control of the traction of the Grouser wheels, a solid live drive axle, operating through clutches, is used, insuring that both wheels will turn no matter what the conditions of footing either wheel may encounter. The wheel with the firmest footing pulls the load. A solid axle is a positive guarantee against one wheel slipping and absorbing the power while the other remains idle. In the drum of each wheel is a powerful clutch controlled by its own pedal, allowing individual manipulation of either wheel. The Fageol Tractor can be operated on a side hill without sliding down hill, any tendency to slide being counteracted by easing out the uphill clutch, throwing all the power to the down-hill drive wheel, which holds the tractor up the slope. This manipulation is instantly possible in going diagonally across gullies and over ditch banks. A turning radius of but seven feet is possible by releasing all the power to the outside wheel, bringing the tractor around quickly without loss of power, thereby making easy operation in tight places among trees. The shape of the Grousers has been worked out by many experiments. The tractor travels and rides on the Grousers. Since each Grouser is a wedge it is not possible In essential in any tractor is Traction! tractors guaranteed to travel at 21-3 mills. If used in material and workmanship, at least a good buy as the other. But a capacity only where the footing is slippage of the drive wheels on the hoes each one slip—in sand?—on wet well cultivated ground? A certain size have to make a certain to cover 21-3 miles, and in making operations will actually travel the whole slippage. But when the necessary to travel 21-3 miles have been made, a distance short of 21-3 miles the tractor has done as much work and oil as if it had plowed the whole use work done by the tractor with done. A tractor may do as much whole as would plow a whole round count of loss by wheel slippage varies one-fourth to three fourths of what this means that one-fourth to three percent in gasoline and oil and repairs found! ECOL TRACTION Responsible for the efficiency and economics; the positive traction of FAGEOL solid live drive axle operating through each drive wheel—and protection must. The shape of the Grousers has been worked out by many experiments. The tractor travels and rides on the Grousers. Since each Grouser is a wedge, it is not possible for the drive wheels to sink deeply even in loose sand. Their shape is such that they withdraw from the soil without lifting it, so that there is no tendency to dig in. On the contrary, there is a positive tendency to dig out, due to the angle at which the Grousers enter the soil. The two rows of Grousers are staggered in relation to each other so that in revolving there is practically no jolt as the Grousers strike the ground. The points follow each other so closely, as the wheels revolve, that the driver has a pleasant ride. The Grousers are interchangeable and in case of injury are easily replaced by removing two bolts. ECONOMY The Grousered wheel and the solid axle with individual clutches for each drive wheel deliver a remarkable percentage of the power developed by the motor to the implement drawn. Not having to develop an excess of power to take care of traction losses, it is possible to use a relatively small motor in comparison to the work a FAGEOL Tractor is capable of doing. Lightness of the whole tractor is a result, and therefore, oil and fuel economy. The final economy is achieved by protection of the whole tractor against dust. The FAGEol does its work with little attention, easily and economically. To far seeing men who buy farm machinery built for efficiency and not for a price, the FAGEOL Tractor, with positive traction, will appeal. Shipment of FAGEOL Tractors today. Come and see them.
