FULLERTON TREATS FIREMEN BETTER Fullerton is to treat its volunteer firemen better. Trustee Davis reported that the city is having trouble in keeping the boys interested in the work, as they receive but $1 a month for practice, and must be at the practice every month to receive the dollar. They also received $2 when performing at a regular fire, regardless of how many suits of clothes may be spoiled. It was decided to give the boys $2 each per month for fire practice, $2 for answering a false alarm and $5 when fighting a real fire. The company when complete has 25 members. ANAHEIM MANN SELLS TWO DODGE MOTORS Chas. H. Mann reports the sale of two Dodge cars this week. One, a commercial car, was delivered to the Los Alamitos Sugar Company, and the other, a touring car, was sold to J. K. Langdon of this city. Mr. Mann says that he could sell several more if there was any way of getting these popular cars, but with the limited number that he can now secure the public will have to wait patiently until he can get back to a pre-war basis of doing business. In another column of this issue of the Plain Dealer, Mr. Mann is also calling the attention of Plain Dealer readers to the fact that he is the largest tire and auto accessory dealer in Orange-co, and invites the people to come and see. Mr. Mann says that he cannot understand why people will go out of Anaheim to buy articles which are carried right here, and in numerous instances, sold for less money by the local dealer. This thought is right in line with the expressions of many Anaheim business men encouraging the spending of Anaheim money in Anaheim. Charlie Mann is one of the oldest auto men in the county, has established a reputation for square dealing, and solicits your business on a basis of giving the customer full value in ever transaction he makes. There were 124 guests seated at the excellent dinner served in the large old rose and gray banquet hall. Short toasts were given by officials of the county and state associations. A feature of the entertainment was cabaret performances between the tables. Following the dinner, there was dancing, music being furnished by Fellinge's orchestra. Chas. H PAYING BIG BONUSES FOR NEW OIL LANDS There seems to be no abatement in the active demand for prospective oil-bearing lands in the vicinity of the C. C. Chapman gusher. Bonuses for lands within two and three miles of this well run all the way from $100 to $2000 per acre. Word comes that the old Nat Goodwin ranch, consisting of 90 acres improved principally with Valenclas, now the property of William Loftus, the well-know oil pioneer and J. P. O'Brien, which is within a mile of the Chapman well, has been sold to one of the big producing companies for the sum of $450,000. The identity of the company is not known, but it is thought to be the Amalgamated. As orange groves in that vicinity range in price from $2500 to $3500 per acre, it would appear that about $2000 an acre is given in this transaction for the oil prospect. LUNCHEON COMPLIEMENT TO MRS.
