FARM ADVISORS OF STATE WILL VISIT THIS CITY MONDAY If the members of the agricultural expedition hold out long enough the farm advisors of the state and many of their assistants will pay Southern California a visit during their observation tour following the annual conference at Davis, which began Mar. 17. State Leader Crocheron has laid out a strenuous itinerary for the advisors. After the Davis conference the agriculturalists left in automobiles for Berkeley, where they will stay two days. They then leave on their tour of observation, visiting Salinas, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, San Fernando Valley, La Canada and Glendale, Arcadia, El Monte and Whittler, arriving in Orange-co Monday, March 31, the itinerary in this country being as follows: 5:00 P.M.—Arrive at Anaheim, with headquarters at the Valencia Hotel. 6:00 P.M.—Leave for Fullerton, taking supper at the Fullerton Club. 8:00 P.M.—Attend Farm Bureau Center meeting at Fullerton High school auditorium, where Harold Wahlberg, Orange-co Advisor, will talk on the activities of the Farm Bureau in Orange-co. A.D. Shamel and G. Harold Powell will be the principal speakers of the evening, and they have a message that is of vital importance to all farmers and horticulturists. 10:00 P.M.—Return to Anaheim for over night. PLEASANT AFFAIR A charming affair of Tuesday evening was the dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. John Johnston of Damon-at, for a few of their most intimate friends. Roses, gracefully arranged formed an attractive center piece for the table and those seated around the board were: Mr. and Mrs. J. Cayce, and Miss Blanch Fulwider, Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Renner and son Russell, Mrs. R.H. Seale, Miss Faye Kern, James and Johnnie Johnston and the host and hostess. ATHLETIC CARNIVAL FOR WELCOME DAY An athletic carnival at Orange high school grounds is now proposed as a Welcome Day program for Saturday, April 5, instead of a picnic at the county park, in conjunction with other cities of the county, as was first suggested. This change in the program of entertainment for Welcome Day was decided upon since it is feared that a picnic at the county park would endanger the success of the Community Memorial bond election April 5. The tentative program for Welcome Day calls for athletic competitions of all kinds and with the participants of all ages. The big event will probably be a baseball game between the soldiers and sailors. No extensive program of speeches is planned. At noon a community luncheon will be served with the service men as the guests of honor. Prof. Sherwood of the Grammar school announces that the domestic science room of the Center meeting at Fullerton High school auditorium, where Harold Wahlberg, Orange-co Advisor, will talk on the activities of the Farm Bureau in Orange-co. A. D. Shamel and G. Harold Powell will be the principal speakers of the evening, and they have a message that is of vital importance to all farmers and horticulturists. 10:00 P. M.—Return to Anaheim for over night. 8:00 A. M.—Leave for Orange-co Park, via 40-mile route firts, passing thru the truck, sugar beet, walnut and citrus sections of the country. 8:45 A. M.—Arrive at Smeltzer and inspect Farm Bureau artesian well project and drainage district. 9:50 A. M.—Arrive at Tustin and attend spraying demonstration in the walnut orchard of P. T. Adams. This feature will be conducted by Prof. Ralph E. Smith, of the U. of C. 10:40 A.M.—Visit Lemon Heights. 11:10 A. M.—Arrive at Orange for inspection of orange packing house. 12:00 M.—Arrive at Orange County Park, where a barbecue will be served with all Orange-co as hosts. 1:00 P. M.—Leave for Redlands passing through a portion of Orange Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. RANCHERS FEELING FINE AFTER RAINS The recent glorious rains have created a feeling of optimism among ranchers and people in general, reports George Dunton, Ford and Fordson agent. "The ranchers now realize they are assured of another fine crop, and are more than ready to go ahead with expenditures for improvements" says Mr. Dunton. "We sold four Fordson tractors and three Ford autos last week and the first two days this week we sold a tractor and auto each day.
