VISIT CAMP BALDY Among those enjoying a trip to Camp Baldy Sunday were the following: Mr. and Mrs. H. Allen, Misses Amanda Frahm, Nannie Riley, Milfred Carter, Marle Schacht, Frances Gordon, Frances Rich, Sarah Devrell, Alma Cordes, Bertha Schrader, and Messrs. Bernard Pobst, Harry Jabbs, Edwin Frahm, Clarence Dickerson, Clayton Webb, Ralph Wilcox, Albert Frahm, Lewis Boon, John Meredith, Paul Yorde. VISITS RELATIVES Sergt. Albert E. Ford, nephew of Mrs. C. A. Reeks', arrived last evening for a two weeks' visit with relatives here and at Garden Grove before going to his home in Oakland. He has been in the aviation camp in Texas for the past year and a half. Mrs. C. A. Reeks, Miss Gladys Harold and Frank Reeks and Mr. and Mrs. Rolfe of Garden Grove, grandparents of Sergt. Ford; motored to Los Angeles to meet him. Robert Nagel, brother of A. Nagel, who has spent the past four months here, left this afternoon over the Santa Fe for his home in Kansas City. Mr. Nagel likes California very much, having visited many of the beauty spots of this part of the state. ORANGE MAN BUYS CARROLL RESIDENCE The fine, West Anaheim Carroll home has been purchased by J. L. Hunton of Orange. The consideration is given as $25,000. It was owned by Chas. Carroll and Mrs. Mary Wallace. The residence, which was erected nine years ago by Timothy Carroll, has 12 rooms and is one of the finest in the Anaheim district. With the home goes eight acres, seven of which are in Valencias about eight years old. Mr. Hunton will move onto the place in about one month. Mrs. Wallace said today she had not decided as to her plans for another home. P. T ASSN. MEETS The regular meeting of the Parent-Teacher's Association will be held in the Fremont school on Tuesday afternoon, April 1st. The program will be most interesting and will consist of a talk by Mrs. J. N. Anderson of Santa Ana, chairman of legislative committee, 4th district Congress of Mothers; also a talk by Mrs. Earl Morris, chairman of Education of the Fourth district. Miss Byam of the high school faculty will give a reading, a piano solo by Bethel Humphrey, piano solo by Ethel Grace York, and a piano duet by Agnes and Jessie Johnston. He went over last June and has seen service in some of the biggest battles of the war. He fought for three weeks in the Argonne Forest. He was gassed in October, and was in a hospital for three months. He is now in the Greenwood Hospital, New York City. Hugh attended the local high school and was one of the first three boys from the Anaheim high school to enlist after war was declared. He has a host of friends here who will be glad to know that he has arrived in this country. KATELLA DISTRICT URGES ELECTION OF HERBERT F. CLARK Anaheim Union high school district will vote Friday, March 28, to elect two members to the Board of trustees. Katella school patrons have never had a representative on the school board, altho the Katella district has always been promised that "the next time" it would be given the desired representation, while Loara district has had two representatives on the board for a number of terms. Katella patrons, therefore, appeal to the voters of the Anaheim Union high school district to vote Friday for Herbert F. Clark for trustee. Mr. Clark is eminently fitted by practical educational experience to make a most valuable addition to the board and a trustee whose influence for betterment of school affairs would be felt throughout the district. As to his educational qualifications—he is a graduate of the State Normal school at Emiporia, Kan. He attended the Normal University at Normal, Ill., and the State Normal school at DeKalb, Ill. He received his A.B. degree from the University of Southern California since which time he has done post-graduate work at the same institution. As to practical school experience—he has been principal and superintendent of schools in Kansas; was two years on the faculty of the State Normal school at DeKalb, Ill.; for five years he was supervising principal of Hollywood grammar schools; at the present time he is teacher of history and vocation at Sentous Intermediate school, Los Angeles. Mr. Clark is a resident of Katella district and president of the Katella War Savings society. He has one boy in service in France, one in Anaheim high school and one in Katella grammar school. He is particularly interested in the administrative phase of school work and will work to make the high school a greater factor in the life of the community.
