PIANO PUPILS IN DELIGHTFUL RECITAL
The piano, pupils of Miss Stella A. Schwentker and Miss Edna L. Hochull were entertained with a delightful recital Saturday afternoon at the home of Miss Schwentker, 211 East Broadway.
A well arranged and enjoyable program of piano solos and duets were given with fourteen of the pupils participating. Their playing demonstrated their ability as performers and gave evidence of careful training on the part of their teachers.
An interesting musical story in which were blanks for the pupils to fill in with the titles of Spr fingtime pieces was greatly enjoyed, as well as were the clippings taken from musical magazines and read in turn by each pupil. Many good musical ideas were gained from these and jolly laughs were had over the jokes on music which were placed among the more serious clippings.
At the close of this most delightful afternoon refreshments of brick ice cream and wafers were served. Those of the two classes who were present are: Rose Butler, Louise Schneider, Elsie Warfield, Allene Terry, Nina Tobin, Ella Cook, Edith Kenney, Mildred Maerhan, Ruth Dahl, Norma Armburst, Maudie Mathews, Barbara Hunt, Frances Wild, Blanche Archer, Lillah Schulte, Stella Bastian, Rose Bever, Edna Schulte, Aurora Daniels, Doris Eells, Geraldine Cook, Esther Schmelzer, Ruth Reed, Edna Hochull, Grace Bleck, Doris Eden, Everett Schneid-

Mission Meeting
The Woman's Missionary society of the Presbyterian church met on Friday afternoon for the first meeting of the New Era year. Although the afternoon was stormy, there was a good attendance and a most interesting meeting was held. The session opened with devotionals led by Mrs. Hawley, who chose for her topic, "Intercession," reading John 17. Mrs. W. T. Wallop gave a splendid report of the Los Angeles Executive. This was followed by a report from Mrs. Z. Bruce of the annual meeting of the Los Angeles Presbyterial which met at Long Beach. Miss Raymond read an interesting paper on evangelizing the foreigner in our country. A budget of $800 for missionary and extension work was made out. Altogether the afternoon was a most pleasant one and enjoyed by all.
