It was that same spirit that went with it to France, where a glorious service was rendered the fighting men. It was that same spirit that has made the Salvation Army a mighty big factor in helping the down-and-outs in California, as well as in every state in the Union. This spirit is to have its financial commendation next week in California. Orange-co has a part to take in that appreciation. It is to raise at least $5500 to carry on the work of the Salvation Army in Orange-co and to provide $2750 as Orange county's share in the state budget. Far more than $500 is to be raised, as much more as it is possible to raise, and whatever money over $5500 is raised is to be put into a building fund for a lot and building for the Salvation Army in Santa Ana. The drive for funds will take place next week. Preliminary to that drive, the following paragraphs may be read as giving an idea of some of the work some of the work that the Salvation Army does, of some of the work to be supported through next week's drive. The Salvation Army will make a drive for $822,000 in California the Fresh Soda 14¢ Crackers, lb. The best Bread in Anaheim, 24 oz. loaf -the bread is made from Moses Best Flour. MILES Original Cash Grocer 131 W CENTER ST. ANAHEIM Let Merit Decide The Salvation Army will make a drive for $822,000 in California the week of March 24 to 31 for home service work. This sum is necessary to maintain thirty-three centers where its work is being carried on in California, erect central Salvation Army buildings in San Francisco and Los Angeles, improve and extend the work at Lytton Home for Boys and Girls, take care of the two rescue and maternity homes it maintains, the industrial homes for men and homes for women, prison work, relief for the needy and other welfare acclivities. At the Lytton home for boys and girls maintained by the Salvation Army it became necessary to teach a nine year old boy to sleep in a bed. He had never known anything but the floor as a couch and frequently the attendants would find that he had crept out of bed and huddled up in a corner sound asleep. He is now learning to care for himself and is rapidly approaching normal. What is to become of the bartenders when prohibition goes into effect? The Salvation Army answers the question by throwing the entire force of its nation-wide employment bureau into action to secure jobs for these men, many of whom have been and tagenistic to the organization in the past. For years the Salvation Army has maintained rescue and maternity homes, woodyards and slum establishments which the human wreckage of the grog shop has filled with victims. Now with the coming of prohibition, the Salvation Army will reach out to rescue the jobless bar Let Merit Decide The Oakland Sensible Six is today, not only a leader among all cars in point of design and high grade service, but is the only Six of established worth and reputation and large production found among the medium priced cars—in fact, it is the only Six below $1100 in price at the factory. It is the only choice of buyers who want, at a moderate cost, a highly developed car of unusual performance abilities and the high relative value wrought by efficient manufacture on a large scale. Leads all the other cars in economy of gasoline tire and oil mileage. Have sold 19 Oakland Sensible Sixes since the holidays without a special salesman. Wickersheim Implement Co. Fullerton, Cal. Anaheim Salesroom, E. Center and Olive Sts. 2 1-2, 3 1-2 and 5-ton sizes J. A. Cullen, Agt. OF SERVICE LE OF WORK SERVATION ARMY Spirit of service for all has made the Salvation Army it is. It was that went with it to a glorious service was fighting men. It was that that made it a mighty big factor down-and-outs in California as in every state in to have its financial next week in California has a part to take in on. It is to raise at carry on the work of Army in Orange-co and 50 as Orange county's rate budget. Far more than be raised, as much impossible to raise, and pay over $5600 is raised into a building fund building for the Salvation Santa Ana. Our funds will take place to that drive, the foliage may be read as some of the work of the Salvation Army does, of work to be supported week's drive. On Army will make a 1000 in California the tender and place him in a position which he can fill with credit to himself and without humiliation to his family. In the Salvation Army headquarters in San Francisco where discharged soldiers are helped during the period from their discharge until they secure a job, a steady stream of men is passing through. Many are supplied with transportation to their home cities where jobs await them, others are given civilian clothes that they may enter upon jobs they have secured and still others are advanced small loans to tide them over a difficult period. Just as the Salvation Army lasses supplied hot coffee and doughnuts to the soldiers overseas so are the Salvation Army officers find-ing jobs and helping the soldiers here. Demands upon the home service work of the Salvation Army have reached a point which makes it necessary to utilize every minute of the time of the officers in relief and welfare work. To allow these workers to give their full time and to provide adequate funds for Salvation Army activities, the drive for funds will be made in California next week: That the Salvation Army's spirit of service knows no bounds is shown by the fact that sixty girls, who, during the past six years came under the care of the rescue home maintained by the organization in Los Angeles, found good husbands. Every girl leaving the estate track of until feet. This is just of the work of which is applied week of March. AUTO IS An automobile ego Wednesday abandoned, evic quarter of a mile the same night.
