BUILDING BOOM ON WAY AT PLACENTIA
PLACENTIA, Mar. 10 — Special — Placentia is a little slow in starting after-war construction, but it is coming. Houses are not to be had, and rents are going up, and when rent begin to yield profitable returns building always revives. Andrew Koch is getting out plans for a new home on his ranch out Richfield way and will probably start work within two or three weeks. Nels Johnson is preparing to build a five or six room house on Chapman avenue, and is taking trees out of his orchard to make rom for it. Two or three others are "figgering."
Two ranches, one in Placentia and one in the Yorba Linda district, changed hands last week. M. Epson sold his five acres of Valencias on Bradford-ave to Robert McKee of Whittler for $15,000. Edward Simmons sold 9 acres, mostly Valencias, to S. S. Collins of Santa Ana. The consideration is said to be a little less than $2000 an acre.

In a town where all the houses are occupied, one move calls for two or three more. W. H. Everett has moved to Fullerton, to be near relatives, but will continue to as manager of the "corner" store. J. D. Rouse has gone into the house which he vacated and Eugene Bercot followed Mr. Rouse into the Walcher home, which he purchased some time ago.
L. H. Higgins has put white chairs in his barber shop and is having the shelves and fixtures done over in white enamel. It promises to look neat and tidy when the work is done.
Mrs. A. J. Robinson spent Tuesday in Los Angeles with friends.
Navies are going out of Placentia pretty lively now, shipments averaging about five carloads a day. The water testers are working satisfactorily, the percentage of rejections running from one to ten.

The Parent-Teacher Association met Friday at 3 o'clock, at the school house. Mrs. Morris of Santa Ana was present and addressed the meeting, and for about 35 years a resident of Yorba, died at the home of his son, Max Bayha, in Los Angeles, Tuesday morning. He has been spending most of his time, lately, in Los Angeles, having two daughters, Mrs. Maussneet and Mrs. Morlock, as well as a son living in that city. Another daughter, Miss Hermina, resides at Yorba.
Last Year B. C. Baxter donated a young pig to the Red Cross and it was sold at auction to C. C. Chapman, who turned it over to Mr. Baxter to be grown a little bigger and sold again. Last week this pig, which was a lady pig, gave birth to a lot of little piglets, and the Red Cross now owns a pretty respectable stock farm. As soon as the little fellows are old enough to be adopted into good homes, Mr. Baxter will have another sale.
COURT HOUSE BRIEFSE
M. Kato, Buena Park farmer, has advised Sheriff Jackson that two brown mules have strayed away or were stolen from his place Wednesday night. The animals belong to C. M. McCain of Santa Ana; Kato having them under a lease.
A Ford machine stolen at Long Beach Wednesday night was found at Stanton.
Mrs. Lhana Thomas of Anaheim had her Buick automobile stolen in Los Angeles Thursday night.
Administrators were appointed as follows: Cella D. Vaill for estate of Edward Vaill, deceased; Martha C. Beattle for estate of Franklin T. Beattle, deceased; Lillian A. Graves for estate of C. S. Graves, deceased; Virgil Preatt for estate of Teresa Preatt, deceased.

A horse which Charles Taylor was riding Tuesday afternoon slipped and fell on Crowther-ave. Charles landed on his right eye, with the horse on his leg. He was badly scratched and bruised, but got out without any broken bones.

SAILING FOR HOME
M. O. Robertson of West Anaheim has received word that his son, C. H. Robertson, who has held an important position as lecturer for the Y. M. C. A. in Russia, Siberia for a number of months, will sail for home from Shanghai about April 1. A cable started from Vladisvostock Feb. 24 to Y. M. C. A. headquarters in New York was telephone to his wife in Chicago who wrote to the father here.
Another son, Major R. R. Robertson, writing from France, Feb. 10, stated that he would probably start for home that week.
YEOMAN GIVE DANCE
The Yeoman Lodge will give one of their popular dances in the Odd Fellows' hall this evening. It will be a shirt waist dance, and prizes will be given for the gentleman wearing the gayest shirt and the lady wearing the gayest shirt waist. Faber's Universal orchestra will furnish the music and a good time is secured.
