R. L. Gibson left last evening for Reno, Nevada, upon receiving word that his father had died after a very short illness.

Mrs. J. R. Kelley has returned to her home at Los Angeles after visiting with her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Gibbs.
Mrs. W. H. Spake of Pasadena came this afternoon to visit for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. L. Goble, and Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Thiebaud of Santa Ana.
Ensign S. W. Callaway, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Callaway of south Los Angeles-st, has arrived from Pensacola, Fla., having received his honorable discharge.
Mrs. F. E. Waite and daughter of Los Angeles are spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Waite of Melrose-st. F. E. Waite will spend the week-end at the home of his parents.
An eight and a half pound boy arrived Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Sellinger, north-east of town. It arrived on the birthday anniversary of little John Oris Sellinger.
Kenneth Nagle who has been working at the laboratory of the Standard Minerals Co., at Kingman, Ariz., is home for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Nagle.
Mr. Simon B. Fiscus of Wadsworth, Ohio who is wintering in Southern California, is the guest this week of his brother and family, Mr. Joe Fiscus, of S. Los Angeles-st. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fiscus and family motored to Los Angeles the early part of the week, bringing Mr. Fiscus with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy of Fullerton and Mrs. Ella Williams of East Center-st, motored to Los Angeles Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy returned the same evening, while Mrs. Williams remained over night

GIVES · DINNER FOR NEWLYWEDS
Mr. and Mrs. H. Burdorf of East Orangethorpe-ave, Fullerton, entertained on Wednesday evening with a prettily arranged dinner of eight courses in honor of Mrs. Burdorf's brother and his bride, Mr. and Mrs. William Cordes. The table centerpiece was made up of a miniature lake, bordered with fresias and violets and places around the board were marked for Mr. and Mrs. William Cordes, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cordes and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Humphrey, Misses Kate, Anna, Melinda and Alma Cordes, J. C. Cordes and the host and hostess.

The members of the O. & O. club wre pleasantly entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mauer Davis street, last evening. At the card games which formed a pleasant pastime, prizes were awarded to Mrs. Billy Lake, first, Mr. Bonnett, second, and Mr. Lake, booby. At a late hour a delicious two-course luncheon was served by the hostess, violets forming an attractive centerpiece for the table. The members present were Mr. and Mrs. Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Lake, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Bonnett, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schindler, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schindler, and the host and hostess.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Eddy of Hansen Station entertained with a dinner party last evening at 7:30 o'clock. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walters and son, Charles, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Hathaway, and Mrs. M. E. Canby. Special favors were given Mr. Hathaway and Mr. Walters.
