Social and Personal Miss Vincente Doyle of Capistrano spent the week-end at her home here. Mr. A. A. Simpson and daughters, Irene and Alberta, of Indiana, Penn., who are spending the winter in So. California, were the week-end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Fiscuus, S. Los Angeles-st. Mrs. J. H. Cayce, Miss Blanche Fulwilder, Mrs. O. H. Renner and son Russell, Mr. and Mrs. Black and daughter Margaret; attended the serial exhibition at Arcadia, Saturday. Mrs. S. Parker of Hollywood, formerly of this city, is in town spending several days with friends. R. L. Gibson spent the week-end at San Diego with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Pletke of Santa Ana, were guests yesterday of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Edwards of E. Broadway. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Goble, of Victoria, who spent a couple of days with relatives and friends in this city, left yesterday afternoon to return home They visited the Orange Show at San Bernardino on the return trip, Miss Lulu Goble of Los Angeles; and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Clark, also were guests yesterday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Goble. Miss Mae Frahm returned this morning from Los Angeles, where she visited with her sister, Mrs. H. S. McGregor, since Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Volz and small son of Huntington Park, returned home today after visiting with Mrs. Volz's mother, Mrs. C. M. Kemp and family and also other relatives On Saturday the birthday of S.C. Brockwell went to Long Beach yesterday to remain several days with an old time friend, Jess Greenleaf. Mrs. C. A. Criss has returned from Corona where she spent several days with her relatives. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Jones entered Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Baker yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Leslie and family and Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Hillson motored to Arrowhead Hot Springs yesterday and also attended the Orange Show. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Koch and little daughter of Los Angeles spent yesterday with Mrs. Koch's mother, Mrs. McCoy. J. C. Smith and D. G. Steinkamp spent today at Lohg Beach. Mr. and Mrs. J. Lloyd Moore attended the Iowa picnic in Los Angeles Saturday. Fred Hudson former photographer here, but now of Long Beach, was a visitor in town Saturday. Mrs. A.B.Coffman returned to her home yesterday after being at the Sanitarium for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. H.A.Hawley and daughter, Miss Dorice, went to Los Angeles Saturday morning, remaining over Sunday with Mr.Hawley's parents, Mr. and Mrs.C.F.Hawley. Walter Hughes, of San Gabriel, returned to his home after a minor operation at the Sanitarium. Mrs.M.D.Brackney, of Orange, returned home Saturday after being at the Sanitarium for ten days. Lee Bounds returned home at Fullerton fro mthe Sanitarium and J.F.Spalding of Whittier, who has been there for a month following a major Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Schwarts and family motored to Laguna Beach yesterday for the day. They purchased a Ford Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Pritchard spent yesterday in Los Angeles. They were accompanied by Mrs. E. F. Diller and daughter, Miss Helen, who will make their home at the Pritchard home, Miss Helen will attend school. Mrs. Diller is an aunt of Mrs. Pritchard. Garden Grove GARDEN GROVE, Feb. 24—Special—E. G. Stillman and son of St. Louis, Mo., were guests at the J. A. Knapp home Monday. J. G. Allen and Ralph Graves attended the Bible Institute in Los Angeles Tuesday evening. Miss Marguerite Parks was a week end visitor at the homes of Seal Beach and Long Beach friends. Daniel Francis of Los Angeles has been visiting this week at the home of his brother, Rev. Geo. A. Francis. Mrs. T. E. Niles is a visitor this week in Los Angeles at the home of M. Fay are to be the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Sandman and daughter, Virginia, motored with Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Rognas of Hollywood, to San Diego last Saturday to visit over Saturday and Sunday. J. C. Hamnantree of St. Louis, Mo., is visiting his brother, James Hamnantree. He is so favorably impressed with Southern California that he expects to make his future home here. The Plus Ultra class of the Zion Evangelical church held the regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Henry Maler. Eleven members participated in the pleasant evening. The business session occupied the first part of the evening and was followed by a social time and music by Miss Finifred Rohrs. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the evening, carrying out a Washington's birthday motif. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Crane, Mrs. Mott and Mrs. G. A. Francis and family were those from Garden Grove who were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Mott of Santa Ana on Tuesday evening, the occasion being to celebrate the 62nd birthday anniversary of Mrs. Crane. Refreshments consisting of sandwiches, chocolate and Birthday cake were served at a late hour after which the guests departed, wishing Mrs. Crane many happy returns of the day. Mr. Berghofer owns a fine ten-acre orange ranch 2 1-2 miles north of town. E. M. Dozler was a Los Angeles visitor Wednesday. Mrs. F. B. Winters and little son were Santa Monica visitors last week at the home of her sister in law, Mrs. A. L. Griffin. C. A. Emerson, who has been at Santa Susana for several days, loowing after his ranch there, returned on Wednesday. George Hedstrom received his honorable discharge from the officers' training camp at San Pedro, Tuesday, and is now at home. The Tuesday Afternoon Club will meet Tuesday, Feb. 25th at the home of Mrs. H. C. Downes, for an all-day meeting. Mrs. Downes and Mrs. I. SAW ONE RANCH; DEEDED ANOTHER A Santa Ana real estate agent showed the wrong piece of property to a man concerned in a trade, and that is why an action to set aside the trade has been brought in the Superior court. Moses Fereday is the plaintiff who looked at one ten-acre piece and was deeded another. Burritt Wells is the defendant. The real estate man took Fereday to Corona and showed Fereday a piece of property that he thot was the piece owned by Wells. Fereday was satisfied. He made the trade and gave a deed to his property in Santa Ana and received a deed for a piece of property in Corona, but it was not the piece he had looked at. When he came to take possession of the ranch at Corona he thot was his ranch, the real owner had some objections. Fereday finally located his own property and he was not as well pleased with his trade as the thot he was. He says that the property for which he got a deed is worth fully $1000 less than the ten acres he had looked at. He asks the Superior court to order all deeds set aside and he asks judgment in the sum of $500. WANTS COMMISSION D. A. The complaint alleges that Blank instructed Grim to sell eighty acres of land at $190 an acre, and Grim says that he found a customer, Henry Desmond. Blank refuses to complete the deal. Grim alleges that he did his part, earned his commission and is entitled to it. PLEASANT AFFAIR A very pleasant affair of Thursday evening was the family dinner given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Wickett, E. Broadway. Places about the table were marked for Dr. and Mrs. D. C. Balfour and daughter, Jean, of Rochester, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Balfour, of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Dr. and Mrs. H. A. Johnston, Misses Lillis, Agnes and Jessie Johnston. SHOWER FOR MISS FRIEND In honor of Miss Nellee Friend, who will soon become the bride of Geo. K. Crawford, Miss Mildred Carter was hostess at a miscellaneous shower at her home 512 E. Center-st Friday evening. Sweet scented violets and streamers of white satin ribbon were used for decorations. The gifts were concealed in a large basket which was presented to the honoree, who was completely surprised. The gifts consisted of all kinds of useful and beautiful things. She was also presented with six beautiful hand-painted plates as a wedding gift. Dancing formed a pleasant pastime for the guests and late in the evening refreshments were served. D. 4. He came to this country in 1904. He has a wife and three children who will become citizens through his naturalization. Witnesses who have known him five years are Herman, Schlistra and T.
