Though the demand for molybdenum has been temporarily affected by the cancellation of war contracts, there undoubtedly will be an ever increasing demand for this useful metal in the peaceful arts.

Mine Equipment and Buildings
The main working shaft is equipped with a 45 ft. head frame; 40 h. p. hoist; 80 h. p. engine belted to a 400 ft. Ingersoll-Rand air compressor, and a 25 h. p. engine belted to an electric generator for lighting and operating two direct-connected motor-driven triplex pumps and one Buffalo blower for mine ventilation.
At the mine is located a large hoist and compressor house, blacksmith shop, timber framing shed, besides a large well-appointed change room for the convenience of the men.
One of the molybdenum mines of the southwest, the development of which has proven up a large body of milling molybdenite ore, has just placed in commission its new 50-ton plant and has begun to deliver on a contract which will keep the mill busy for some time to come.
The mine belonging to the Standard Minerals Company is controlled by Southern California people and is situated south of Kingman, Ariz., in the Huadalp Mountains.
In August, 1918, the company decided that sufficient ore had been developed to warrant the building of a mill for the extraction of molybdenite, the most valuable constituent in the ore. The metallurgical process was worked out by Roy L. Cornell, the resident engineer; the contract for designing and erecting the mill was given to Wellman-Lewis Company and the machinery was furnished by Collins & Webb, both Los Angeles firms.
Mill excavation was started Aug. last and the mill placed in operation Dec. 16, 1918; a very creditable record, considering the difficulty at that time in securing labor and supplies.
Mine Development
The mine is developed to a depth of 350 feet by a double compartment shaft. The ore bodies are on the 200 and 300 ft. levels, where several hundred feet of cross-cut and drifts have exposed a large tonnage of ore carrying one per cent molybdenum. The working shaft is carried 50 ft. below the third level to provide room for the electric-driven pump, which raises the water to reservoir on the second level, where another electric-driven pump raises it to a tank placed on the hill above the mill and ped with a 45 ft. head frame; 40 h. p. hoist, 80 h. p. engine belted to a 400 ft.
The blacksmith shop is equipped with a pneumatic drill sharpener.
Mill Buildings—Cruching Plant and Sampler
The ore is trammed trot mthe shaft bins to the ore bin at the crucher, where it passes through a Wheeling crusher to a belt conveyor and thence to a sampler at the mill bin. The crusher and sampler are driven by a 20 h. p. gas engine.
The ore is discharged from the belt conveyor into a Vizen sampler, which makes a one-twentieth cut. The reject is dropped into the mill bin, and the sampler cut is run on a platform for further quartering.
Two units of 50 tons each are provided for in the mill building, which is divided into ball mill floor, flotation and filter floors. In the mill building and crushing plant, all walls and floors are of concrete. The buildings are of the usual post and bent frame, with sorrugated roof and side walls.
Mill Machinery
All mill machinery is of the most modern to be had, and consists of the following: 18" x 8' pan feeder; 5 x 4 Standard ball mill; Simplex Dorr classifier; two K. & K. flotation machines, one for rougher and the other for cleaning concentrates from first machine; diaphragm pump for elevating concentrates to thickener; 24' x 8' Dorr thickener; Drag classifier to dewater tailings from second flotation machine; 5' x 4' Oliver filter for filtering an ddrying concentrates, 6" x 4" triplex pump for returning
