How long has it been since you've been back to school
It's true, times have changed since many of us were last in school . . . architecture, modern methods of education and the students themselves have changed. A solid education has never been so important to the youngsters living in your neighborhood!
Young families look for superior educational opportunities and other civic improvements when they consider buying a home in your community. Good school facilities improve your community's worth and help keep your property's value high.
Most new schools are financial municipal bonds. These bonds long period to keep taxes at rates are decided by competitive assurance that your community interest rates on their bonds.

KEEPING UP WITH JONES
By ILA JONES
CONTRARY to a popular belief that all newspaper people are cynics, the general public should have had first-row seats at a party given for the press. As one gal put it at such a gathering of the fourth estate the other day, "The best thing about these press parties is that I get to see a bunch of my friends that I never have time to see any other way!" A plug to our hosts on a couple occasions would read: Thanks, Charter House Hotel.

Having covered a couple assignments involving the political scene, I wish I could be in 'Frisco this week for the BIG event . . . the nominating of the Republican Presidential candidate! ways courteous. Good bunch men to have around. And speaking of police. If police in United States stop you when driving, about all you have come up with is your driver license. Not so in Paris, report the National Automobile Club. If police there stop you, you have to come up with registration book, driving license, rota tax license, parking disc., insurance certificate, radio tax ceipt, and certificate showing that your car has been modified to prevent interference with television. C'est la vie, c'est guerre!

IT BEEN BACK TO SCHOOL?
New schools are financed through the sale of all bonds. These bonds distribute the cost over a good to keep taxes at a reasonable level. Interest is decided by competitive bidding... added that your community will get the lowest incomes on their bonds.
America and its associated dealers bid on all California state and municipal bonds... show your interest by voting in all municipal elections for community improvements.

POSSIBLY it is fatigue that is causing the discontent among the members of the City Council. Gentlemen, please, let's have less words and more action, there is too much at stake for the No. 1 city in the nation... and there couldn't possibly be a money problem... salaries, that is... you just got a raise.
SPEAKING of that raise, Councilman, Fred Krien, has figured out by the time the taxes are paid, social security stopped and other advantages come out of the new salary, the councilmen will probably be losing money or just breaking even. Reminds me of the Anaheim police officer who won $140,000 and will pay $100,000 to the state and federal governments. No matter how you see it, "Big Daddy who takes care of us all" will get it all eventually.
WHAT'S that they say about the early bird? Well Mary Phillips of 2510 Paladin Avenue can tell you roosters. Seems she won a little nest-egg from KFWB radio. Something about postcards and calling the station in five minutes. Sounds like great sport if you have the time.
Have you ever noticed the cops (in respect) at the scene of an accident... the Anaheim police are definite but al-

What's doing?
We all like to reminisce about "the good old days." But, it's easy to overlook how much cranking it took to get those good old days started. I mean, we cranked the car, the clothes wringer, the gramophone, and the telephone. Not so today. Take the telephone, for instance: Now you can call almost anywhere in the United States with just the spin of a dial. And it costs less, too. Back in 1920 a 3-minute daytime coast-to-coast call cost $16.50. Today the cost is only $2.25, plus tax, for the same station-to-station call. At night it's even less. Yes, times change. And so does the telephone, because telephone people are constantly improving it and the service it brings.

Do such exotic sounding places as Tatu, Jamul, Moapa, and Beowawe figure in your vacation plans this year? They could, for they're actually towns in California and Nevada. Towns that you might be driving through. But it's hard to tell from a road map what's really up ahead in the way of accommodations. So, no matter where you plan to stop overnight, it's a good idea to phone ahead for reservations. It only takes a minute or so. And it can make the end of a long day on the road a lot more enjoyable.
Global TV becomes more of a reality all the time. Last April the Bell System's Telstar II was used to relay the first live TV broadcast, a 20-minute report on preparations for the 1964 Olympic Games, from Japan to France.
HOW NOT TO BE CHARGED FOR DIALING A WRONG NUMBER OUT OF TOWN.
Here's something that's important to know about Direct Distance Dialing service: If you reach a wrong number, just ask the person who answers for the name of his city. Then hang up and dial the operator and tell her. She'll see that you're not charged for the call.
