Moral: Keep your savings in the bank
A fast profit is fine for investment capital. But savings are different. They need the complete protection and the steady rate of interest they get at a bank. Your savings won't make any flashy spurts or spectacular jumps, but they'll always be there when you need them. And in the long run you'll find you're ahead when you keep your savings where savings belong—in the bank.

Three Southern California businessmen were honored as leaders in Americanism Wednesday when Town Meetings for Freedom granted them the first annual Americanism awards after a luncheon attended by about 300 civic figures at Pike's Verdugo Oaks, Glendale.
Dr. Hubert Eaton, founder of Forest Lawn Memorial Park, was cited for his defense of individual liberties and his advocacy of Americanism in education through several school programs sponsored by Forest Lawn Foundation.
J. E. Hoeft, president of Glendale Federal Savings & Loan Association was commended for his sponsorship of the television series Probe, which treats world problems from the American viewpoint.
Walter Knott, founder of Knott's Berry Farm, Buena Park, earned his award for the work of his Freedom Center, which supplies speakers, motion pictures and printed material on Americanism to audiences throughout the nation.
Principal speaker at the luncheon ceremony was John Morley, foreign correspondent and world affairs expert. Americans, he said, need to become more alert to the gradual wearing away of their traditions from within as well as to the obvious threats from without.

For Patriotism
The award certificates were presented by Burton N. Arnds Jr., president of Town Meetings for Freedom. Paul Boyd, award committee chairman, introduced the winners, and Ben Roth, past president, was chairman of the luncheon.
Town Meetings for Freedom, Arnds said, aims to unite civic-minded organizations and individuals in an effort to preserve the American Way of life in politics, economics, ethics and morality. Town Meetings, he said, now includes about 50 clubs and scores of leaders in business, the professions, and public service and labor.
Award winners from state-wide competition sponsored by the Orange Empire Association of Camera Clubs can be seen in the big Photo Exhibition featured at the 1964 Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, July 14-19.
