He described two award winning programs now available for use in secondary schools. One is a series of twelve booklets entitled "Industry and the American Economy," which is being used as supplementary material in some 4,800 schools across the country. The second is a series of ten half-hour films which describe "The American Business System" in easy to understand, down-to-earth, everyday terms. The film series has been prepared under an NAM grant and has been telecast over 70 education television stations across the country. It is now available for use in schools. Charles R. Kohlenberger, president of Kohlenberger Engineering Corp. of Fullerton, who was chairman of the meeting, said efforts would be made to ask school officials in Orange County to review both project here, he said, is to outstanding people who up and administer education programs de give high school team better grasp of economy. The program includes observance first hand of the operation of governmental processes through unit visitations, a study of the Bill of Rights, Constitution, and Declaration of Independence, participation in a national essay writing contest, and freedom campfires on July 18th. At the campfires, boys will dramatize famous events from our American past, pledge their support of the ideals that made our country great, and will be presented with replicas of Continental currency, the money that was used to pay General Washington's army during the Revolutionary War. Awards from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge will be given for the best Heritage essays by a Scout, a Cub, and an Explorer in the Council, and these winners will then compete for regional and national medals.
